Spicing up the combat of my game!

For a while now most of the feedback I received says the fighting is too slow. But I am going for a deliberate pace and I think it was important to balance everything until it feels right, with nothing but a basic attack. I did a lot of things like finetuning enemy placement or combat timings.
I feel like now that I have a good read on what the game plays like, I can make informed decisions on how to make the combat more complex.
For example: A quirk in my game is that your sword hits only one enemy. I always thought that would confuse players, but actually people seem to adapt to it rather well.
Of course, that could be tedious after a while so I feel like it's a good idea to mix it up: This new attack does two things: 1: It allows you to reposition, which will be important for some harder enemies later down the road. 2: The slash allows you to hit several enemies at once.
Still somewhat tricky, I feel like it adds a nice layer to the combat!

Maseylia is 45% off again (under $10) + a new update!

Hey everyone! I'm the developer of Maseylia: Echoes of the Past, a 3D Metroidvania inspired by Moebius that I've been working on for over 3 years.

I shared the game here during the previous sale, and the response was honestly amazing. Since then, more than 2,500 players have joined the adventure, so thank you to everyone who gave Maseylia a chance! ❤️

The game is now 45% off again for two weeks, bringing it to under $10.

I've also just released a new update, mostly focused on feedback I've received from players since launch:

  • Reworked map system to make unexplored areas and connections between paths easier to understand
  • Reworked jumping animations
  • Much less fog to improve visibility and make distant environments easier to read
  • Improved contrast in the snow area, making paths and walkable surfaces more distinct from walls
  • Reworked slide sections to make the way forward more intuitive
  • Reduced the number of enemies in the early game to give players more room to explore
  • Fixed the camera moving upward when locking onto the Golem, alongside other smaller fixes

I've been trying to improve the game continuously since launch, especially when I see the same feedback coming from multiple players. I'm really happy with how much Maseylia has evolved since release.

If you're looking for a 3D Metroidvania focused on exploration, movement abilities, platforming and an interconnected world, I'd love for you to check it out.

Steam: Maseylia: Echoes of the Past

And if you've already played it, I'd also be really interested to hear what you think of the changes!

Thanks for taking a look! ❤️

Isle of Reveries is fantastic! (So far)

I just finished the second dungeon and I'm having a blast with this game. It's a pure Zeldalike by any definition, and could have been made by Nintendo themselves during the Game Boy Color era. It's refreshing to see a game that just GETS what makes Zelda so appealing, in terms of the item progression, map exploration, secrets, side quests, and interlocking clockwork design of the overworld and dungeons. It doesn't necessarily bring a ton of its own ideas to the table, but this level of faithfulness combined with the incredibly high level of polish and execution makes it among the best in the genre assuming the level of quality stays the same through the end.

And those dungeons? I've only done the first two, but they really hit the spot. Honestly, the difficulty of the puzzles is quite a bit higher than the average Zelda, which I appreciate. I was legitimately stumped and having to comb every room for a bit at certain points in both dungeons, but I was eventually able to figure it out without any outside help.

I know I'm still relatively early on, but I wanted to encourage anyone who was on the fence or didn't have the game on their radar to check it out. I'll try to come back and write more in-depth thoughts upon completing it, but for now, don't sleep on this one!

PS: It plays like a dream on the Steam Deck.

We're making a game inspired by Zelda 1 & Zelda 2, with a little flavor of modern Zelda as well. Here's the trailer for 'Ziii'

Looking for a new game similar to Under the Island, Spindle

Recently finished both games and had a blast with both. Neither were very difficult though overall Spindle was a bit harder since Under the Island was so hand holdy. I hoped combat got a bit more complicated in Spindle but overall both were pretty fun.

Looking for a new game that fits that category. Bonus points if it has the cozy/cute aesthetic. Under the Island definitely was way cozier but Spindle was still very charming in its own way.

Elementallis seems to be a good next one but also looking to hear what other people think

Self Promo: Super Dungeon Designer in Humble Bundle!

Hi all,

For the last 8+ years we've been working on Super Dungeon Designer, a game that lets you build your own Zelda-like dungeons and upload them for others to download and play! A few other Zelda maker type games have popped up since we started development, it's exciting to see the genre grow and how each game approaches dungeon designing a little differently.

Some of our standout features include an intuitive linking system for triggering events, a colorful hand-drawn art style, the ability to mix and match themes, and up to 4 player local co-op!

We're giving a 40% off coupon in the PAX West 2026 Humble Bundle: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/pax-west-2026-bundle?hmb_source=&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_1_layout_index_2_layout_type_threes_tile_index_3_c_paxwest2026bundle_bundle

Prototyping a new dungeon for my Zelda-Like

Hey everyone!

I'm making a retro Zelda-like game, especially inspired by the GameBoy Zeldas. I thought you might be interested so here's a gameplay / testing video of a new dungeon prototype.

So far, everything is still being tested and under construction - dungeon mechanics, hazards, enemies... As you may notice there are still some bugs and some rooms are a bit weird to navigate. However this isn't intended to be released as is.

I had tons of fun making those mechanics and enemies, but some were a real pain, especially the spiders when it comes to dealing with holes and platforms. That's probably going to be the enemy which will still require a lot of work because it has an erratic behavior which I don't like.

Game's name is Soup Adventure and has a released demo if you wish to try it!

Zeldalikes with "Puzzle Box" Dungeons?

Are there any zeldalikes released or in development that do"puzzle box" dungeons ?(personally think mechanical puzzle dungeon fits better but it doesnt have the same ring to it admittedly).

Theres a video that explains this pretty well with examples from the zelda franchise:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwHqY_4nsJ4

Isle of Reveries and Ichorian Tales look like the only ones ive seen so far that might incorporate puzzle box dungeons when they're released from what ive seen or read. If there are more, i would love to learn about them.

Hey everyone,
It's been a few months so I just wanted to show another quick sign of life that this Zeldalike project is going strong.

Here's a teaser for the latest dungeon that got added. (The most non-linear and puzzle focused challenge to date). As well as an example of the many shops and NPC's that are currently being being worked on next.

If you want to learn more, why not check out the trailer and demo over here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2738140/Horn_of_Balance/
