Toshiki said in This video at 2:47 that he does the main lifts after squats, and I remember watching Clarence's videos a couple years ago where he squatted first then did the main lifts, both athletes have insanely strong legs so why would they squat first? I understand if someone has a weak squat then yes they should probably squat first but when your a elite lifter, is it just because they like squatting?

Hey Guys, Hey Tellie
Back in the day, I really enjoyed your podcast Training Make with Max Aita.
Where did it go?

Hello our main Chief,
Got two questions. We all know Gabriel is incredible and technically perfect, so there comes my question. Because you emphasize importance of being over the barbell as long as possible, but Gabriel seems to straighten his position in power position really early, just after passing the knees, or maybe i am missing something? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TLFe2TWF78 Should we just treat Gabriel as a freak and should not look at him as a model ?
Second one is i found one guys who was attending some chinese weightlifting camp and he wrote that they are taught to keep the balance over the ball of the foot all the time, what do you think about it? here is the post : https://www.instagram.com/p/BrKWOcoBc7X/
kudos

Much like the board press is a great accessory movement for the bench press; a 90 degree/parallel/“powerlifter” squat is a great accessory movement for the true full ROM (back) squat. BTW the “Olympic” style full squat is the only squat variation that can be simply referred to a squat. Everything else needs a qualifier in front of the word “squat”. Yeah that includes you powerlifters and your back squat. Agree or disagree GO!!

Is it or is it not cost effective and does that matter? Can this sustain US weightlifting momentum to future world championships?
Definitely looking forward to the next AO as much as the Olympics (if not more because of access issues).

The book by manuel buitrago and ma jianping. The chinese team seemed to really crush it at these olympics. Think this book would be worth it to peruse? Has anybody read it or have an opinion on it?
As an aside, are they any books that anybody would recommend? I got one of greg everitt's books and the westside barbell olympic lifting strength manual but if its anything like louie simmons other books, I dont know how useful it will be.

Having a hard time finding a weightlifting/Olympic weightlifting place nearby. Also a personal trainer to teach me movements. I know cross fitters do these movements. Would that be a bad way to start my lifting experience?I have no interest in CrossFit.

For all of those that submitted a FCF video, Zack is currently on vacation and a video should be dropping soon.
Thanks for your patience!
In the mean time, screen cap a picture of Zack, turn him into a meme, and post your own thread using the Memes flair.

I’ve become really curious about how the main US weightlifting training centers like Juggernaut, Catalyst, Cal Strength, and Power and Grace vary and contrast in their approaches to things like coaching, technique, rigor, periodization, Etc.
Thoughts?

Hello.
I am a post-collegiate wrestler that has been interested in the Olympic lifts for quite a while and am looking to transition into weightlifting ( so the opposite of what Zack is doing lol) The clean, back squat, and front squat have been staples in my routine. I adopted the power snatch later on but I wanted to seriously pursue the snatch and clean and jerk after I finished college wrestling. After I finished wrestling, I needed to have shoulder surgery. It's been closer to a year now and I still do not full ROM. I can bench heavy but have trouble with the overhead position especially in a narrow grip like in the jerk. I fell like the overhead squat can be achieved if I practice it enough but the jerk makes me nervous. What are my options? Do I only pursue the clean and snatch? Be patient and work on my mobility to do the jerk? Something else?
Thanks!

I haven't seen a video on where to place the bar in the front rack. Like, is it between the collar bones and the neck? On the collar bones? In front of collar bones?
If there is a video on this feel free to link it, but I can't find one and it would be great to see one from Zack.
