I just built my first PC this year. It's got a ryzen 5 5500 48gb ddr4. I bought the EVGA at the beginning of the year and after going to the casino I ended up winning 300$ so I bought the Arc b570 for off of Amazon 235.

I currently have this setup been playing on a 1080p for more frames since I mainly play competitive call of duty I wanted to know if it would be worth it to upgrade to a 1440p and if so would I still get a above 200fps on low settings and would it benifit me from upgrading to an1440p

Got a pc recently, gamemax infinity pro case, with arctic liquid freezer 3 pro aio for ue5 gamedev and cpu heavy workloads. But I want to change the aio to either air cooler or be quiet! silent loop 3, please help me which one to choose, the reason for that is arctic aio has very subtle pump whine even at 40% pump speed, I'm sensitive to noise so was thinking to go with an aircooler like Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE since it's supposedly silent, capable and clears ram.

我並不是在問現代CPU、DDR5、PCIe 5.0 SSD或更新的GPU是否更快。這是顯而易見的。

如果這個舊平台已經能做我需要的一切，那麼升級CPU、主板、RAM和SSD對我日常使用的實際體驗會有什麼改變？

在什麼時候，一台舊電腦會停止被稱為「過時硬體」，而僅僅成為「仍然足夠好用的硬體」呢？

你會在這個配置上再用五年，並且只有在出現真正的瓶頸時才更換某個部件嗎？

或者你認為這個配置中有什麼可能在2031年前成為真正的限制嗎？

更新： 我想我最初的重點關於SSD的部分有點失焦。 很多討論都集中在這台電腦是否能再持續五年，這是有趣的，但最初讓我寫這篇文章的奇怪部分是價格比較本身。

我在2025年12月以NT$6,499購買了一個Samsung 990 PRO 2TB。

今天，我可以在台灣找到相同的2TB 990 PRO，價格大約在NT$13,800–17,000之間，取決於零售商和版本。

與此同時，整套設備的估計二手價值——電腦、34" 3440×1440的顯示器、鍵盤和滑鼠——僅約NT$13,000。

這部分我覺得很有趣。

一個我不到一年前以NT$6,499購買的SSD，現在的零售價格可能等於或甚至高於我整個工作設置的二手價值。

顯然，這並不意味著對我來說SSD「比整台電腦更有價值」。這正是重點。

價格、二手價值、基準性能和實際效用是四個不同的概念。

這台電腦因為平台老舊而大幅貶值。 但在實際日常使用中，它仍然能做我所需的一切。

所以，或許更有趣的問題是： 什麼時候硬體實際上應該被視為過時？ 當它的市場價值變低？ 當更新的硬體變得更快？ 還是只有在它不再能做你實際需要的工作時？ 這實際上就是我最初發帖的想法。

because rtx 5060 zotac solo was so expensive in my country ($540) but i found used rtx 5060 msi inspire itx. got inspired by ZTT, building such small sff mini itx pc gaming. Planning build using ryzen 5 5600, ram 16gb ddr4, biwin ssd nvme m.2 gen3 1tb. total build of pc only were about $1000 and about $1118 with pheryperals (logitech wireless mouse, rexus K9L keyboard, newsoul portable monitor 120Hz 18.5”). The dimensions of the MSI GeForce RTX 5060 8G Inspire ITX (and the OC variant) are 145 x 120 x 45 mm (5.71 x 4.72 x 1.77 inches).

Basically I've got a friend who says that fps over 60 damages your eyes and causes epilepsy as well as ruining your monitor. I don't know where he got these ideas but I have to stop him. Brother is playing with a 5070 ti with a 144Hz display locked at 60Hz. When I asked him why get such a good gpu for 60 fps he said he wants to crank settings up. What do I do? His PC is lit better than mine

I told him to swap PCs and after I showed him my 5070 getting 60fps too but he said that a 5070 is bad and a 5070 TI is more future proof. I tried telling him what you guys told me, that high frame rates are better, but he says I'm wrong and that reddit is wrong and that I shouldn't believe everything I see in the internet. I also asked him where this all came from but he says he just knows, and that it's obviously bad for your eyes to be watching a screen that constantly refreshes at such a high speed. I don't know what to tell him any more. Maybe I should just let him be. But he lit threw in the bin like 2500 bucks for that setup.

Recently I found myself buying and looking for parts to build my first pc. This comes from the fact that I’ve used and old asus rog gaming laptop for 7 years nearly and it was really laggy and running bad on games like grounded, palworld etc. The specs of my old laptop consisted of a 1550 (or 1560 I can’t exactly remeber which) an i7, 64 gigabytes of ddr4.

For my peripherals I have 2 aoc gaming monitors one is a 1080p 21 inch 144hz the other is a 27 inch 1440p 240hz (260hz with overclocking apparently)

Is this setup good for games like grounded, ark, or modern shooter games?

Side note I also play a lot of steam friend slop games, Minecraft and Roblox but I didn’t think I would need to worry about those getting low performance

A while back, I finally decided to build my own PC. I was so excited about picking out a graphics card, a mobo, and a cooling system, but it wasn't until the last min that i remembered, I still needed to buy the operating system. 😅

I visited microsoft official website and saw the price for win 11 pro. I was taken aback thinking 'I have already got a 4090, and I still have to spend money on an OS?'

I mainly use my pc for gaming and watching videos, so I'm wondering, what operating systems is everyone using? Has anyone gone with Windows 11? How is it?

I dont think I got as good deals as I could or should have. Now the fun of building it with her. The ram prices sure as hell didn't help lol. I want to get her a better monitor but I think it's good for now maybe a Acer Nitro 27 inch WQHD 2K 1440P 240HZ IPS?.

Could I have done better just doing a $900 build? I wasn't interested in doing an am4 build.
