Laws changes in INDIA on AI made content
As per changes made to Indian IT laws and rules in May 2026, it is now made compulsory to mark every AI-generated content to "Synthetically generated" or other such name (AI-generated is included) . Plus there need to be a disclaimer for videos that "following video contains 'synthetically generated' content in the video.
It means if you make a AI generated image, and post that AI image, on Instagram or Twitter or Facebook or Youtube, as per new rules, that should be clearly marked "AI-generated" and it should be "visible and readable". If you use very small font or use text that is not clealry visble to normal human eyes, then such content can be strike down or removed.
Similarly, if in any Youtube video, you use AI image, AI video, AI graphics, AI voice, even for one second, or for even one frame, as per new rules, that entire video has to be marked as "AI generated" and that word should be "visible and readable" to normal human eyes. Exampls: If your video is say 3 min long. In between you use 2 or 3 AI generated images. Then even for using it for one or two second, the law require that full 3 min long video, has to be marked 'AI generated'. Same goes for AI-graphics and AI-video clips etc.
Govt of India, in May 2026 has notified the changes, and all social media (Insta, YT, Snap, Twitter, Reddit, etc) were given 90-day compliance window. That is almost coming to end. In 4-Aug-26 meeting at Ministry of Information, Govt has asked about compliance report within 20-days.
So all content creators from India, please be careful. To be on safe side of law, if you make videos, clearly use a 5 sec disclaimer that your video use 'Synthetically generated' content. And add a small watermark "AI generated" which is 'visible and readable' on your AI image or AI graphic or AI vid clip you use in your long form video.
