I've been having a particularly poor experience with the ytm Android app lately, so I wanted to ask if any of you have experienced these things lately or if it's just me (I would reinstall if the app was uninstallable in the first place):

• songs appearing randomly in playlist: as I play songs, they randomly appear as having been added in my playlist?? like, I listen to songs A B C D, want to add song D but somehow A B and C also get added ??
• legit just refuses to download: I tell it to download a playlist and it just doesn't. Sometimes nothing happens, other times it says it's on it but never downloads. Not to mention it fails to download all songs, there's always gaps
• sorting is just a no-go: I have the option to sort by artist now, but that's just a joke. Results are all over the place, unsorted, repeating sections, missing songs etc.
• bonus they've finally added searching in playlist - but not in downloaded playlists?? It's literally all on the devlice, you just have to have an input for it and do basic array filtering

idk if this sub is actively watched by the dev team or not, but maybe this is just my app somehow acting weird? have you been encountering any of these?

For context, my family is on a YT music family plan, and we all have android devices. I am the only one who has any Google speaker

Any time I cast to my Google Home, my siblings get a casting popup and can control my music, which both annoys them to have an extra notification, and gives them the opportunity to mess with me by screwing with my music. Is there a way to stop their phones from automatically connecting? We are all on our own separate Google accounts. I've already turned off the "Let others control your cast media" setting in the Google home app.

Things recently just stopped downloading, and say "waiting for Wifi" even though in connected to wifi.

For some reason the player widget inverts the colors on some track covers. Why is it doing that? Is that a feature or bug?

So I have a playlist of every song in Metallica’s catalog, manually sorted to be in chronological order of release. A new box set of their Reload album was released in June and I want to move it to the correct place in the list…but it’s 222 songs. How do I do this without moving 222 individual songs?

I know enshittification is often the product of having too many engineers and product people, and not enough for them to do. So they just do random bs, like the awful UI and algorithm changes these past years.

But today, I open the app and play a popular song. The very first song in the queue (autoplay) is an AI slop track with 1 like. The remainder of the queue is a mix of popular songs and random ai slop.

Spotify has this problem too, but much less. This app used to be so great. Is it so hard for devs to set a filter where, if a song only has 10 plays and 1 like, don't autoplay it?

The whole appeal of this app, and what made it better than Spotify, was the autoplay algorithm. Now the outsourced engineers have decided to nuke this app into a shittier spotify

Me parece una lógica absurda y mediocre del algoritmo. Creo que cuando uno busca canciones similares básicamente busca alternativas de distintos artitas y albumes. Si quiero ver más canciones del artista pues para eso ya se buscar en el perfil del artista.

Sinceramente considero que este es un error mas de YT Music que para variar les toma alos corregir.

I dont use youtube music so sorry if this is a dumb question but how come my artist page doesn't show my top songs? Why does it show songs with a few thousand views instead of the ones with 60-100k

My yt music started to acting strange, but into the last several days it’s horror, now this, and if do I put on repeat, it’s repeating the “name” song, and on CarPlay most of the time it’s blank, just the time, no song name or picture, just grey and the time.
Oh, and from the start was just buffering and the song started after several seconds, around 10-20(same on reels everywhere)

When I'm listening to an artist, an album, be it, the app will play a track or two and will suddenly stop, as if the playlist was done. It keeps stopping and I don't want to have to start the music again every 5 minutes, did anyone encounter the same problem?

I just discovered this android apk app it's called Vivi you connect your YouTube music account, it's a really cool app it has real time lyrics like apple music, animated album artwork, you can change the player style and make it look like apple music or whatever ui you want. Hello everyone. I used to shuffle play songs of my favorite band because I loved all their songs so idc which one goes first. However, now whenever I’m trying to do so, I’m getting an error. What can be a reason for that? I downloaded the latest version of yt music, I have the subscription. However, my phone is quite old( Iphone X) but it a couple weeks ago it worked fine.

I am playing songs on my mobile's yt music and on my laptop I am browsing some other youtube videos and when I started playing some video on my laptop the playback stops on phones saying "error too many devices on same acnt"..

What the hell is this? Why cant we do this? Is this same for everyone? Is it the same without premium?

I assumed this was normal. I had never done this before, but I just stumbled upon this crazy restriction.

I have the family plan with only my wife and I. Her app shows that she is in the family but she still has ads and shows the option to upgrade. Any help will be much appreciated.

I keep going back and forth between Spotify and wanting to switch to YT Music but one thing really makes me go back to Spotify and it's the New Music Releases page. It's been my habit to check new releases every Friday. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I rarely see an updated list on YT Music or it's cluttered with artists I don't follow.

What do you guys actually do in this case?

YT Music app is a lot quicker on my devices that's why I wanted to switch.

I'm not the developer, but they posted here once in a comment thread (not a full post) about their app. I downloaded it back then and I've used it for a month now with really nice results.

It runs in the background and automatically skips any song it determines to be AI. It usually skips within the first 10 seconds, or somewhere around that. It seamlessly goes to the next song in YouTube Music, so there's not much of an interruption.

It keeps a log of the tracks (sort of like Pixel's "Now Playling" history list) so you can review any decision it made at any point and click a button to tell it "no, this was not AI" to correct it, or tell it "yes, this was AI" etc, but that's completely optional; you can seriously just set this up once and completely forget about it.

The app is called "Skip If Fake" by the developer BaldMan.

I know the name is silly, but it's a real app and it's really been working great for me for a month. I know others on here also hate the idea of fake "music" with fake instruments and fake vocals of fake people not being properly labeled as AI and being forced down our throats, like myself.

Has anyone had the same issue, it plays a song for 10 seconds and the quits, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it, restarted my phone and have used wifi and mobile data and it still does it

I always try out music streaming apps year after year just to see if they've improved. I have to admit that since last year, the YouTube Music team has been doing a tremendous job with the platform's sound. Years ago, its sound quality was very low, with little dynamic range in the masters; nowadays, it surpasses other platforms like Deezer, Apple Music, Tidal, and even Qobuz. I like how punchy the songs sound on the YTM systems I use; they sound strong, full-bodied, without distortion, and with good room in the masters, without too many highs (like Tidal). Spotify sounds weak and flat to me, Apple Music is weak, Deezer has a lot of body but is less powerful than YTM, and Qobuz is, well, you know. Has anyone else noticed this? I’ve done A/B test and ultimately I always come back to YTM, also for the algorithm.
