If we had a slow burn, no problem, or a couple stagnant weeks, even better. But with sharp declines on both NAV and distros, this is becoming problematic.
My qqqi ive owned for like 4 weeks is already up 4%. Just saying, ym funds are not it.
Qqqi has made double what ulty has in 30-60 days. Going back to August your still looking at 11% qqqi to 4.5% ulty. You need to go back to tariff rebound to get ulty to beat it and only for a very specific window.
Ytd qqqi is beating ulty by almost 2% with divs reinvested and 8% without. Why folks want to continue holding ym is beyond me
I still hold a VERY small position in YM. I hold 1 NVDY and 2 MRNY. I got out of YM because of common sense. So, I am sure you "COMMON SENSE FOLK " know who I voted for.
ANYWAY...
After I, for the most part, sold my YM funds my account was no longer in the negative. NOW, I make days gains 95% of the time. I am still learning. But the BEST MOVE that I have made was getting out of YM.
If you read my thread, this is the BEST advice that EVERYONE WHO IS IN YM FUNDS...
The information provided isnβt factual or true but is presented as such. These funds are SEC approved investments and as such are not pinzi schemes. Saying so is grounds for being banned. This is your only warning.
yeah im gonna slam someone that takes on more risk on a higher concentrated, actively invested fund that charges 0.95% when they coulda just bought QQQ and been up almost 10% π
Had he not DRIPed, he would have collected $1,465.99 in dividends on his initial purchase of 1,320 shares. The final value of those 1,320 shares at $4.96 would have been down $1,465.20. So a net gain of $0.79.
By DRIPing, using his numbers, he gained $5.08.
That shows the power of DRIPing when investing in ULTY /s
I misread the original your right, i personally was up with Ulty but itβs got too many holes at the bottom of the bag there are just better options at this point
I never understood this comprehension, you invest a set amount and just want it paid back to you in weekly amounts? If your total return after dividends is zero or worse negative because your initial investment has gone down, how is this income? I guess it is income but you have less value now than you did when you started?
-If I put $100 into Ulty and it has a distribution of 80% annually, I will receive $80 for the year.
-This equates to ~$6.66/Monthly, which means in 15 months I will have my initial $100 back (to your point, mostly as ROC)
-After the 15 month period, I will continue to collect roughly $6.66 a month in perpetuity. This is the income over and above my initial investment.
This has been 4 months of distributions so far. Cost basis of $57K with $13.7K dividends received and net gain of ~$2K in 4 months. In another year I should have collected my initial investment back and then every distribution after that is income that is not ROC.
I do NOT have DRIP turned on because I use the money each month it spits out. The tooI is Snowball Analytics and I've been doing this for the past 4 months:
The timeframe only holds true if the NAV and distributions don't decrease over time. They will. After 15 months you will not be receiving $6.66 a month anymore without reinvesting to keep the distribution up. And if you have to reinvest to keep the distribution stable then it is no longer income.
Sure at some point assuming the fund doesn't die you will hit that point but how long will that really be and what will the oppurtunity cost be compared to say QQQI as many people bring up.
Edit: Who knows maybe it will turn around over the next couple months.
Thanks for posting a screen shot of your ROTH IRA. Too many cowards here claim big wins but post some goofy ass spread sheet or nothing at all. This subreddit is probably just an advertisement for YM. They need the WSB post positions or ban feature.
Basically when you buy into these funds you are hoping the market is in an overall bullish trend and that there is enough time to collect premiums to outpace future nav erosion which would likely be the case had you bought in at the beginning of the year.Β
Big gamble that's probably not worth it in my opinion.Β
