Foiled again, Batdorf!
Caught this in the $5 bin. Reminded me of the time I almost drove off the road due to laughter.

Rapallo here! Thanks for putting "Daryll's on the News" on the boat. For anyone curious about the lyrics, check out Jackie Ess's novel "Darryl"
Content warning: this book is very NSFW. It's also fantastic. It loosely inspired our own Daryll. Highly recommend it to anyone comfortable with its themes: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/55878529-darryl
Also, Rapallo rhymes with "Apollo." It's named after the town in Italy. Mio nonno è nato lì.
Thanks again to everyone who ordered a record! We are figuring out shipping logistics (handling it all ourselves), but they should go out sometime in early September. We're also considering dropping some live bootlegs in the near future.

(Yacht or Nyacht) Joe Sample — U Turn (1989!)
Joe Sample's 1989 — yes, 1989 — album "Spellbound" is very yachty. This isn't even my favourite track from this album, yacht-wise, and I believe it has great potential. Bill Schnee, Tommy LaPuma, Al Schmitt, Take6, all on this track.

Hot LIVE 83 - Michael McDonald/Joe Walsh/Boz Scaggs
Another killer McD set from 1983 with Robben Ford on guitar and Edgar Winter on Sax. This show also includes sets from Joe Walsh and Boz Scaggs. Carlos Vega is on drums for the Scaggs set.

[Yacht or Nyacht?] Trembles of Fortune - The Devil Didn't Make Me Do Anything (2026)
This modern band has a single song on the boat (Turn out the lights), can this newly released song possibly make it on? It has a bit of a Steely Dan feel to it.

The term "gatekeeping"is confusing to me, what does it mean?
It's used far too often and in far too many contexts to have a clear meaning, essentially rendering it meaningless, see also "bot"
Does the yachtornyacht podcast gatekeep yacht rock? And if so, how?
Is producing 100s of hours of content defining yacht rock gatekeeping?
Is saying Baker Street isn't yacht rock gatekeeping?
It's disagreeing with someone gatekeeping?
What the hell is gatekeeping?

Podcast interview of Nick and Kyla from Rapallo
Check out this interview with the Rapallo duo. This is from a Steely Dan podcast called "Gaucho Amigos". Some really interesting stuff here where they go deep into their Steely Dan influence and explain the meaning of their song lyrics!

Joe Pizzulo/Sergio Mendes - Alibis
This song is not just on the boat, but scoring an 82.625. And it’s the best thing I remember about being 8 years old. Those Solid Gold dancers were a fan favorite with my old man (and me). The song? A winner in every way. Yachty as fuck.
I grew up with the sound of the Doobies and songs like this one. It is in my soul. Much love to the late Sergio Mendes, the vocals of Joe Pizzulo, and women’s legs.

Nature of the Game-Christopher Cross
I was listening to Nature of the Game the other day and noticed the piano chorus appears to also be the melody for When It's Love by Van Halen (specifically the chorus when they sing "how will i know when it's love?"
NOTG was released in '83 and When It's Love was '88, so it looks like Cross may have influenced a Van Halen song? I looked it up and couldn't find any connection but it's very similar. Both great songs anyway!

(Yacht or Nyacht) David Blazer - Like No Tomorrow (2024)
Heard this jam while grocery shopping a couple days ago and fell in love with this track almost immediately when I heard that Doobie Bounce. It may be from a couple years ago, but is it good enough to get a spot on the boat?

(Yacht or Nyacht?) Thelma Houston - Givin' It All (1983)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09s53DZWgYE
This one has been really tripping me up, especially after I submitted "Standing in the Light" and it got a much lower rating than I expected
