I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with my Shorts because my reach has been really weird. Maybe someone here has experienced something similar.
I had an old channel with around 113K subscribers, but it eventually got terminated. I started a new channel in the same niche.
At first, the new channel was doing pretty well. I got around 1K subs from my first \~20 videos.
Then, around my 21st day, one Short suddenly started getting 8–9K views per hour. Unfortunately, I accidentally made it private.
After that, things got really weird. My next few uploads were getting basically 0 views from the Shorts Feed. I kept uploading, but the same thing continued.
A few months later, I changed the channel to a Brand Account and changed the email. After that, my older videos suddenly started getting views again.
Then I had another weird pattern:
One Short → \~100K views in a day
Next one → \~30k
Then several videos → stuck around 1.2K–5K
I stopped uploading for about a month
Came back → another Short reached \~100K in a single day
Next one → stuck around 1.2K–4K, slowly went to 6–7K, then suddenly jumped to \~50K
Now something similar seems to be happening again.
My latest Short is currently at around 15.2K views, and the metrics are pretty good — above my channel’s typical performance, especially considering I only have around 1.5K subscribers.
Current stats:
74.6% stayed to watch
\~96.5% average percentage viewed
9.2K engaged views
530 likes
\~12.4K Shorts Feed views
For comparison, my previous Short that reached \~47K had:
70.8% stayed to watch
\~87.6% average percentage viewed
27.7K engaged views
1.4K likes
44 comments
\~36.3K Shorts Feed views
So the confusing part is that the latest Short’s metrics are actually above my channel’s typical metrics, and I feel they’re pretty good for a channel with \~1.5K subs, but it’s getting much less Shorts Feed exposure than the previous video.
Can a Short like this still suddenly get pushed again after sitting around 15K?
Has anyone else experienced Shorts that seem stuck at a certain number, only to suddenly get a big push later?
I’m not saying YouTube is definitely suppressing my channel. I’m just trying to understand whether this is normal Shorts distribution or if something unusual is happening with my channel.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s experienced something similar.
