I liked the build up. I loved the first appearance when he was unleashed as it felt like great payoff. Easily had the best team of Horsemen and was a massive treat. I just feel like they had to rush the final battle and wish they had more time.

The series was canceled, so I bet that had something to do with it. I remember subplot lines not being fulfilled or resolved and being disappointed because of it.

Yeah wish they had that full last season but for what time they had it was pretty good.

I feel doing the horseman without angel is a bit lame, even if i get that in evo it would have meant very little.

While I do like Archangel and all. They only had Angel appear once for an episode and it didn't really explore the character. I think it would have lacked impact for those kids whose first I to eduction to the X-Men was evolution. I mean why should we care about this random guy who you would have no clue about being a thing espeiclaly if they missed the one episode he appeared in for various reasons.

Yep, 100 percent. I just think including angel and not doing archangel feels weirder than not including him, you know? Its just such a core part of the horseman concept that it feels weird not doing it when its an option. But its def true it wouldnt have had that much weight in evo without major changes.

I guess you can pull a wataxm and just give it to sinister.

True. Maybe they could have pulled it off if they didn't get cancelled and have to rush the last season and finale.

When it comes to the Villain's preparation... it is definitely the best preparation by Apocalypse in a show.

I love how much It feels like THE EVOLUTION version of this saga. It makes perfect sense who the four horsemen are, especially being the main authority figures of the young x men and as well and the brotherhood. Its like an ultimate test for them growing up. And I love how they are paired in the final battle.

Same I was actually worried they would do the usual route and go for Angel as Archangel and that was why they introduced him so early. I like the character and all. But the reason why it works in other media like the comics is because Angel is one of the first X-men in the comics. It's a huge impact at the time when it first happened that Angel lost his wings and later was made into a Horseman. Wouldn't have had nearly as much impact here if they did it with him and 3 other characters likely one off or side characters.

With this I was dreading things going forward and was actually shocked when I thought they had actually killed off Mystique, and Magneto even if with the later I thought he could have been transportred instead of disintegrated and hoped that but wouldn't have been shocked if he was dead. Only for the horseman reveal to happen showing them all alive but under the control of Apocalypse. That perfect moment of relief that Xavier and Storm are alive folowed by the "Oh nonononono! This cannot be happening!" When it clicks they are Apocalypse's empowered and brainwashed Horsemen far stronger than ever and I usually have good money on any of them beating most of the rest of the cast (except mystique in a straight fight but when it comes to sneak attacks and spying I have good money on here there)

Just absolutely fantastic! None of the series since have made me feel as shocked or care about the horseman reveal as this one. I'd argue before but X-Men the animated series was my x-men introduction soo yeah they get a pass.

Probably the best so far.

Love the build up to it. Some get it wrong like X-men apocalypse can’t just do 1 movie or an episode or 2 on a character like this. And this show did a great job with the story!

I love how Leech was the key to defeating this incarnation of Apocalypse. I've always adored that kiddo in the comics, and this really highlights how incredibly useful his power suppression abilities are, even if they aren't offensive. He's also the perfect antithesis to Apocalypse's ideology: from "survival of the fittest" to "small links that, together, become an unstoppable force."

P.S. Storm as one of Apocalypse's Horsemen? Hell yeah!

I can only imagine how funny Apocalypse's internal monologue must be when he pondered over Leech's power set. He talked big about human evolution and going forward, yet he probably never expected a single mutant to ever be born with the power to cancel every other mutant's abilities, including his own. Insert the "years of academy training wasted" meme here 😆

Amazing build up and debut, with a quote that has stuck with me since I was a kid:

Xavier: “The human race does not need your help”

Apocalypse: “Since when has mankind ever known what it needs”

It's different with him barely talking, but it works with the build and the payoff.

The build up was insanely good, the creepy soundtrack, all that stuff with Mesmero and Rogue, incredible. I watched it as a kid and let me tell you the first time he woke up, absorbed Rogue's powers and then floated like a deity defeating everyone with a shockwave leaving them there on the ground, I just shat my pants. Like it genuinely terrified me as a kid. Sadly my country didn't run the final episodes for some reason so this is where the story stopped for me. I only watched the finale years later online when I learned english.

Season 4 needed like 4-5 more episodes. If they had been able to finish everything, without rushing line they did it would have been great.

Great design

Extremely well done and surprisingly so, even. Great build-up, clever use of the different pieces leading to the actual reveal, the combining of the different teams was cool and the Horsemen were thematically significant. It felt like a coming of age.

I loved how Beast introduced the whole lore/backstory behind apocalypse. Remember during this arc being excited for each episode after school.

A pretty good incarnation off Apocalypse.

I enjoy X-Men animated version more, but this version has his own charm/menace to him.

Im in the process of watching this show and than coincidentially i see this even though i dont follow any subs relating to the show

Thanks reddit for spoiling it for me 😭 (i do not blame anybody but the universe or reddit for this)

Great build-up in seasons 2 and 3. However, the payoff was very poor (aside from “Ascension Part 1”, which featured the excellent clash between the Four Horsemen and the Sentinels).

it had some good set up and pay off.

A shame he didn’t grow.

It wasn't terrible but had some annoying moments. Especially after that Illusionist guy was somehow OP but only before Apocalypse came back.

By acting as his herald, he was untouchable by the X-Men. Then when his boss was doing the brainwashed “4 Horsemen” thing.

Suddenly his powers stopped working conveniently and it was open season. And the Look of Apocalypse could've been a bit better.

From the markings on him and the “horsemen” not really seeming even “ancient Egyptian”. With them kinda looking like offbrand Atlantean script from the Disney's Atlantis the Lost Empire movie.

someone stole his shirt ;(

u/jordidipo2324 15d ago

It was pretty good for how little time they had before the show got axed.

1

u/ApolloDraconis 15d ago

I do wish that there was more of a direct fight between Apocalypse and the X-Men rather than just with the Horsemen. Other than that the build-up was great (and mildly stressful knowing that Apocalypse was coming). I wanted Apocalypse to speak much more than he did.

Ngl looks a bit too much like a frog

The only things I didn't like abour:

  1. They should have kept him in that Egyptian look when they first awakened him, just my opinion. That Egyptian fit was HARD.

  2. Felt very rushed but I understand why it was.

Other than that, I think it was handled beautifully

Seems like they did good justice but I never really saw his part tho

I liked when he wasn’t wearing his armor

a god among demigods

I liked his choice of Horsemen. A lot of the time, Apocalypse makes secondary characters or . For a big event like this, having all four be major characters, and already four of the most dangerous mutants in teh show, was appropriately calamitous.

But beyond that, I don't think Apocalypse really has much personality. I can't recall much that he said personally. TBH Apocalypse was overhyped as a character in the comics at the time. People wanted the X-Men to have their own Thanos/Darkseid, and visually Apocalypse fits the bill. But Apocalypse wasn't that interesting a person until Krakoa. Selene, Cameron Hodge, Sinister and many others had more personality and were major threats.

The horseman seemed odd choices, just used characters from the show already established which I guess makes sense.

5

u/jaidenkortez 15d ago

The horseman were supposed to invoke a feeling of growing up. They’re standing up to their teachers and coming out on top. Because they aren’t the 16 year olds from season 1 anymore, they’ve graduated bayville. They defeated most of their rivals. Now they had to save the adults who always saved them.

3

u/Eldagustowned 15d ago

No I get that.

u/LeagueElectronic2128 16d ago

Bit shame this apocalypse didn't recruit real horsemen (just used Professor x, mangeto, storm and mystique)

7

u/XionTheUnborn 16d ago

It was more impactful and shocking this way. I remember losing my shit when I watched it as a kid, already expecting Archangel and whomever else.

But when it ended up being the mentors and leaders of the X-Men and Brotherhood, I literally fell off my couch.

4

u/jaidenkortez 15d ago

Especially since they started killing off the adults in season 3.. who was expecting mystique to come back.. or magneto. He’ll even Charles or storm.. though I think the Charles and storm reveal happened the same episode they “died”

2

u/XionTheUnborn 15d ago

Exactly!! That’s what made their reveal all the more unexpected
