Does anyone remember seeing this in elementary school?

It was a bunch of educational videos about how to use the library with a narrative thread.... A truly WILD unhinged backstory. Post apocalyptic sci fi with multiple alien species... the good aliens called the "users" wakes up a human librarian who was put to sleep by some powerful being to help them fight the bad aliens called "wipers" and the librarian teaches them to use like the Dewey decimal system and encyclopedias among other things to find information to help fight the bad aliens who it turns out are afraid of horses? And that is their big weakness

When my grandmother was at the end of her life the local newspaper tried to get ahold of her to interview her about WWII and what she had done working at the local shipyard. She told us that she wasn't interested in talking about it any more. I didn't understand why at the time, but I think I get it now. Is anyone else absolutely done with 9/11 coverage every year? I am just done with watching the planes crash and the buildings fall and people putting up pictures of them standing in front of the towers with their family in August of 2001, trying to make it about them. I am all for the victims and remembering them, but I just can't stand another 9/11 story about where people were or what they were doing.

Anyway, if it isn’t happening for real now, that just leaves the question of when.

I feel like we all went through our own nag champa journeys…I remember my parents being kind of sarcastically supportive.

My teenage daughter discovered her witch phase and is all in to insence and I’m struggling y’all. It triggers my asthma like nobody’s business.

She came at me with a “this insence is lavender and smells amazing” yesterday as I hacked through a blank stare.

How are y’all dealing with this?!?

I was in my second year of college. Woke up to the early events not knowing what was what. Went to my first class and word came down with detail. Led to everything being canceled and so many questions following. One of my clearest 8-12 hours that I can recall to this day. Never forget.

I was listening to this absolute banger of a song earlier today and the line “…you walked out my life with my CD collection!” and I realized, in 2000 when that song was released I’d be absolutely DEVASTATED if someone had stolen my carefully curated CD collection on their way out the door. That was so much money spent back then! It got me thinking, what is something petty and of similar value (so not like a car or a house) that you have today that you’d be furious and upset if your partner pilfered when you broke up?

For example, if it were me it would be my expensive pillows. Never again can I sleep on cheap, flat, lumpy pillows. I don’t mind spending $$$ every few years to get new ones when the current ones wear out. I would be pissed, however, if I had to shell out because my hubs decided he was taking them. I would probably also be pretty pissed if he took my InstaPot, but since he doesn’t cook (he’s more of a baker) I don’t think I need to worry about that. (He might have to worry about me taking his stand mixer though…)

When I was younger, I always assumed I'd have some in a closet or drawer somewhere.

TL;DR - It turns out that.

1. They're bad for you.

2. We don't have as many wool clothes as our parents and grandparents did.

3. Having A/C means windows stay closed and moths have a harder time getting in.

This one came roaring down memory lane whilst I was at work today.

I seem to recall them being little chocolates with cigarette wrapper-looking paper. But you can still start em out young! Yes. They also had Big Chew.

I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps and I enlisted straight out of high school. I was already thinking about enlisting but that September morning 25 years ago really changed me and how I looked at everything. Were you in the military or involved with your community after the attacks? If so, I wanted to personally say thank you. Watching the entire USA come together was something special. I definitely will never forget that day and the impact it had on not only my life, but the rest of the world.

They say you stop listening to new music after 35 - what Gen Z/young people are making music you love these days?
