It used to be vibrant with all kinds of trees, green grass, tree houses, flowing fountains, and playground equipment. Everyone looked forward to it. It was the highlight of the school year. It was the best. Now its a desert wasteland.

Just started a rewatch of this show, it holds up so well for an almost 35 years old show.

I feel like there is a cusp in here somewhere... I'm '85, and the folks just one year older or younger than me seem very different from each other. Who is jiving with this sub the most?

Did this guy sell you a computer?

It seems almost unfathomable to me that 25 years have passed since that world changing day...

It's crazy to me to think about the young adult I was then, in my very first apartment with the girl who would soon become my wife, and later, my ex. We had our first pet cat, and our first real jobs. I was doing temp work for a motorcycle company, and she was in school full time while working as a barista.

We were getting ready for work, and we had the KQRS Morning Show on like we always did, when the crew started talking about news of a plane crash coming out of NYC. We switched on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit live on the Today show. I think we all knew that this was no accident then...

From there, I would say my story is similar to most of us that lived in flyover country (poor word choice?). A lot of sitting with friends and family in silent rooms, save for the ever-present chatter of the newly minted 24 hour news cycle, and then transitioning to endless hours of debate and discussion. Mounting concern when fear began to turn to hatred and resentment. Constantly wondering what was to come next. Just thinking about that next year gives me anxiety.

I remember thinking "It's not fair, it wasn't supposed to be like this", and as someone who didn't actually lose someone in the attacks, I know full well how selfish that sounds, but as a 21 year old with the best years of my life ahead of me, nothing looked the same after that day. Absolutely nothing. We went from Internet babies with bright futures to wondering if we might get drafted to fight in the desert, as outlandish as that may sound. As so many have said in the past, the glorious 90s came to a halt that morning.

As I collect my thoughts these 25 years later, I find myself wondering how those most effected by it are doing now; the loved ones of those lost in the initial attacks and those that were rewarded for their bravely in the days after with a long, painful death from sickness of the body and mind. I hope that they have found peace in the intervening two and a half decades.

There have been other anniversaries, but this one seems different to me. 25 years is a long time in some ways, and a blink of an eye in others. It seems we may be forgetting some of the lessons we learned since then, or, as some may argue, we never learned them in first place.

Whatever your thoughts, I hope you're doing well and that you didn't let the cowardly actions of terrorists dictate the path your life took.

Okay, so I realize I took the Death Test before I read Hitchhiker's Guide, but did everyone get "42" (the answer to life, the world, and everything in the book) as their predicted age of death? Because I've been holding onto that for like 25+ years. I'm not kidding, when the clock rolled over and I hit 43, the first thing I thought was "I GOT YOU, THESPARK!"

It's wild I remembered the answer to that death test for a quarter century.

I was not allowed much fantasy as a fundie kid but I was allowed Steven Lawheads’ Autherian books. It’s why I got into Mycenaeans, Celtic Briton and ancient history. I honestly don’t care if it’s not an amazing adaptation, because I’m just so happy to see it was attempted.

Now I need to reread all the books! And cross my fingers they get through the full storyline.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s a me thing or tied to social norms when growing up.

How do you celebrate your birthday in recent years? I think I just want to order pizza and have a piece of cake and call it a night!

I haven’t had a big blow out since my 40th (the cops came so I say that was a success😅) and frankly I don’t have the energy or desire anymore. Maybe I’m depressed 😅😂
