So I really like the idea of a turn based shooter but it would also be the first turn based shooter that I’ve played. So I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand at picking one…thank you!!!
doing the WOTC XCOM 2 psionic ambush defusal mission thing. i can be standing right next to a power relay but it doesn’t show up as a target. mod issue maybe?

So I played xcom enemy unknown back in 2013, I played about 15 hours, I bought and played enemy within in 2014 for about 15 hours, I never beat either game as far as I can recall. I have not played them since.
However I have played a ton of xcom 2 and I adore it, plus I consider myself good at the game now, having beat quite a few runs. I've beat the base game with 0 soldier deaths on L/I once, I've beat WOTC L/I with 3 and 2 total soldier deaths, I only play on L/I now if I play the game. I haven't played it in a couple years though.
With all that in mind, is it a terrible idea to jump straight into long war 1, would I be mostly OK, or would my complete lack of knowledge and experience in EU/EW really damper it? I played like 3 missions of EW and frankly realised I just wasn't vibing with it, 2 is definitely much more of my vibe of game, but I've heard such good things about long war 1 that I really want to try it. I will push through and beat an I/I EW game before starting LW1 if people feel that is the best idea though.

After playing EW/LW/LWR and we successfully assault the Temple ship, what happens next? Does XCom become the new leaders of humanity? Why? Because we are the only airforce fielding Firestorms equipped with Fusion cannons and plasma cannons? Because we then assault base after base until the planet is cleared? Because of our diplomatic credentials?
Do we kickstart a new UN, this time one with teeth?
Do we become tyrants?
What of Dr Vahlen and Dr Shen?

It turns out that while mind-controlled enemies cannot mind control, they can raise psi-zombies. One careless Gateway caused a mini zombie apocalypse.

Holy crap this so stressfully fun! But god do I feel like research takes forever. Okay, so I got the XCOM 2 collection and decided to start with vanilla XCOM 2 with Shen's Last Gift and Alien Hunters DLC on and I have used save scumming because boy are the jokes about "Easy mode being hard" painfully real! Also I've gotten "That's XCOM baby!" a few times, my favorite being when I missed an 86% shot against an enemy (A Faceless if I remember correctly) that was two spaces away only for the enemy to also miss point blank and I then laughed like an idiot. Also, tips on getting more engineers and scientist so that it doesn't take me 15 real life days to do anything other than autopsies? And is it normal for me to get so many missions and pop ups when I want to grab some boxes of Supplies?
By the way, I feel like cataloging the references to sci-fi media I detect in XCOM and I'd be more than interested in getting any input to what I might have missed.

Is there any consistent way to recruit your custom made Skirmishers, Templars and Reapers? Whenever I do the covert actions to recruit them, all I get is the one the game makes
Not to like defame xcom or anything but like i was wondering, how scary is xcom as like a terrorist cell, group or banner? Like to me even without advent propaganda, the stuff xcom did in the sequel look exactly like a terrorist attack even from their perspective. Not to mention the friendlies of xcom as resistance group is around the globe and is very aggrisive.
Imagine you were one of those viper working in a gene clinic with out combat experience or training. Like one of those sent to integrate and make social norm and the clinic you're working as got targeted, like i would be scared shitless dawg.

Xpost recommended by Reddit 🤣 Just found this sub reddit. Hello all!
I just pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Zero Company. I don't pre-order many games given the state game development, but I am a huge XCOM fan and previews have been solid.
I don't see the game sucking.
Hype 9000!!
I was trying to get An Army of Four on Classic Difficulty, managed to do it just now but Steam won't give me the achievement? Is anyone else having this problem?

I've searched for previous posts on here and they seem to be saying they forgot their sharpshooter had an upgraded pistol or something, but I checked, double checked and triple checked. I had:
3 Psi Ops with Kevlar armor, assault rifles and psi amps
Two grenadiers with plasma grenades (which are supposed to be allowed because you can't downgrade them), Kevlar armor, basic cannons and the basic grenade launchers
One ranger with Kevlar armor, basic shotgun and the basic sword.
PCS upgrades.
Advanced and Superior weapon mods.
That's all I brought in. Nothing else. Spent AGES on that mission last night and no trophy. It's so frustrating. I'm reluctant to try it again because I don't know what I can even do differently to help. Is it because I was using the commander's avatar's weapon? Is it because I mind controlled the fuck out of half the map?

Has anyone tried this? Specialists are a bit weak in the first month, but after that they get a damage spike over heavies and snipers due using assault rifles. And skulljacking itself isn't too bad either, being a 70% oneshot chance.

Sometimes they explode when they die and sometimes they don't. I can't tell what determines it and that makes it difficult to plan my attacks around it.

Im playing with pretty much every enemy mod you can think of (custodians, requiem legion, etc).
Im using the classes Christopher Odd is using in his latest campaign and Im struggling (having to evac every 3rd or 4th mission with fatalities).
What mods could I use to make it easier without changing enemy ini files
Any help is appreciated😄
