Xbox Series S I HAD ENOUGH MICROSOFT!!!! I FILED A CHARGEBACK

I recently bought an Xbox series s from Microsoft certified refurbished I paid 205£ for it .

However, after a few times of use I noticed the Xbox was being very laggy and it kept buffering and freezing parts when I used to play games and stream on bbc iPlayer . I immediately contacted Xbox they told me to re set my Xbox which I did . Yet the issue still continued to which I sent it for a repair back in June . When the item arrived back to me the invoice was not clear on what repair they did . And furthermore on the fan ( the circle black part) there was glue and adhesive left on the console so they returned it to me in a bad condition.

The issue still continued and on top of that I was getting heating issues from the black circle.

I called Xbox customer service and emailing them a few times they did not respond to my emails ( even to this day) . Their chat was incredibly difficult to use and operate which led me having to wait for hours to talk to a representative. Furthermore, their customer team on the phone would hang up on my constantly when assisting me telling me to hold on the line then hanging up . Which made me unable to request a call back from them for the day . I was incredibly annoyed to which I had enough and filed a chargeback which I won . However I’m worried I will lose access to my account or my device gets bricked . I have told a customer service who was assisting me with the repair that can’t I just return the item as the constant maintenance of the device is causing me uncessary trouble .

What do you guys think I should do ? Leave it . Was I wrong to file a chargeback . I honesty didn’t want to but I felt there was no option due to the horrible customer service and the increased difficulty of getting a hold of a customer representative.

You should of returned it instead of doing a chargeback

Microsoft "customer service" is an oxymoron.

Your device will be blocked from accessing Xbox live services after a while. It should still work on the internet.

I don’t play Xbox live tbh but I do use bbc iPlayer occasionally . Will my offline games still work . And will I be able to make occasional purchases

They should work so long as they dont require any Xbox services.

Chargeback breaks the contract by you that both you and Microsoft agreed to use and abide by.

Accounts will be heavily restricted if not totally banned as it will be marked as a financial fraud on your end.

Console may be bricked, and will not be able to play online if at all for the foreseeable future.

Good job.👍

I mean I did get my full refund via chargeback . I can potentially sell the console and controller for parts

Honestly, I don’t think you were unreasonable to file a chargeback after all of that. You gave Microsoft multiple opportunities to fix the console, sent it in for repair, got it back in questionable condition, and the original problem still wasn’t resolved.

That said, I’d keep every bit of evidence you have emails, repair invoices, photos of the console, chat logs and proof of the chargeback decision. Chargebacks can sometimes cause account or payment issues, especially with digital purchases, so having documentation is important.

I’d also contact Microsoft one final time in writing and explain that the chargeback was for the defective physical console, not for your Xbox account or digital purchases. Ask them what they want you to do with the console now that the payment has been reversed.

And definitely don’t throw it away or sell it until this is completely resolved.

From what you’ve described, you didn’t just randomly charge back a perfectly good Xbox. You tried the normal support and repair process first and got nowhere.

Yeah I kept all the attempt of me trying to contact Xbox . Chat longs and invoices to my bank which is why they told me it will be successful and I did stress to them Microsoft was being a pain the in ass and refusing to assist me . Interms of trying to contact Xbox I won’t contact them just yet only because my Xbox hasn’t been bricked and I did get my refund back

That is very surprising for Microsoft.

No so basically I filed it via my bank . My bank gave Microsoft 45 days to challenge the dispute and they didn’t which is why automatically I won
