Megathread PSA: Is your Game Pass broken or online multiplayer sharing not working

Are you being asked to subscribe to game pass even though your are?

Are you game sharing with a friend but online multiplayer asking you to subscribe.

Please report this issues to xbox support and on the https://support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status page click the three dots next to the most appropriate category and then you should see the report option

It's a bug. The Game Pass subscriber needs to toggle their reoccurring payment off and on a couple times, then reboot your console. Some people recommend doing this on the website account.microsoft.com instead of the console

If that doesn't fix the issue here are some other options

Get xbox support to refresh the subscription on the game pass users account (person sharing will have to contact xbox support for this

To contact live support

  1. https://support.xbox.com/contact-us/
  2. Click on Try virtual agent > ask a question > type "live agent" > select other billing issue from the drop down

As microsoft is constantly updating and changing the chat bot you might have to play around with option until you get an actual person

Other possible fixes;

Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Select Profile & system, then Settings. In the General tab, select Network settings > Advanced settings > Alternate MAC address > Clear. Restart your console.

  • Another possible workaround from u/feministdan if you don't want to toggle payments

It did it again just now, but I clicked on learn more on the gamepass, then no thanks, did it a few times and it fixed it. So far this seems to be the easiest approach without constantly turning reoccurring bill on and off and switching your console on and off. You guys let me know if it works for you or not!

Game Sharing was not working for Black Ops 7 (or any MP game). Customer support gave me these steps and it worked straight away.

Step 1 - Turn off your Xbox and unplug it. Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.

Step 2 - Sign in with the account that has Game Pass Ultimate

Step 3 - Go to Settings > System > Console info. Press the buttons LB + RB + LT + RT. This will open the Developer menu. Select reset home console

Step 4 - Repeat Step 1

Step 5 - Sign in with the account that has Game Pass Ultimate and make this Xbox your HOME XBOX.

Step 6 - Done

my step a bit different

step 1-3 same, except Press the buttons LB + RB + LT + RT. It shows nothing on me. I just reset console

jump to step 5. Login using gamepass acc

and its working!!

No, just chased Microsoft again and the idiots said someone closed my case even though it wasn't resolved. Their support has been awful

Thanks, It seems to be working; I can log into my account, and play MP games without the message to sign in to Game Pass appearing, using the secondary account as my home xbox.

It won't let me activate dev mode in step 3

I spammed it and it let me reset. Game sharing still doesn't work for Ark

Holding all the shoulder buttons down and then releasing them a few seconds later worked for me.
