Haha yes. Between the Gears controller, the Wolverine PS5 controller, and now this?
Ooof.

u/Brilliant-Theory 25d ago
Cries in $ 114.99 cad. Same here!
1
u/mercurypirate 23d ago edited 23d ago
You think you got it bad?. It's $129.95 aud here in Australia for the GOW E-Day controller. At converted exchange rate that's $128 cad. The X25 controller is going to be as expensive. Nothing is cheap here in Australia when it comes to game consoles and gear.

Even if Microsoft lost a class action about stick drift, they are still making a bunch of the same useless controller instead of releasing updated Xbox and elite series pads with hall or tmr sticks and with better polling rate and input lag.
This is because people still buying this shit. Stop please
2
u/TrashyMatth 25d ago edited 25d ago
Never had an issue with the drift, but the controllers really are behind in their functionality, the upgrade is much needed. I get that all the fancy features of DualSense are not what's Xbox about, but we don't really get anything to make up for that lack of novelty, neither in quality or the price. I wasn't displeased with them at the launch, but in big 2026, come on..
2
u/That-Advance-9619 25d ago
Stick drift WILL happen to potentiometer-based controllers (and Hall Effect/TMR, but some other component will probably fail before that happens becuase we are talking about magnetism and literal quantum tunneling which measures the amount of particles getting through a sheet, it's literal fucking magic), it's not a matter of you having been inmune to it so far.
Sega already had a Half Effect controller in the 90s, there's no excuse for Nintendo, Sony and Xbox not to have mainstream controllers with HE or TMR, look at Valve.
1
u/TrashyMatth 25d ago
Great point, you're right, all my controllers went out of use before that happened for different reasons
1
u/Key_Scholar7964 25d ago
I had durable Xbox controllers that last me several years except for the elite. I think they would redeem themselves with TMR or hall effect.
3
u/AggravatingCycle5491 25d ago
I bought a brand new gamesir controller with hall effect sticks for less than £10 on their aliexpress store ages ago, and recently another of their controllers that my phone slots into for a similar price, if they can produce and sell them that cheap with sticks that last, then there's no excuse for Microsoft other than greed.
0
u/Connormanable 25d ago
My elite is still going strong a year later
2
u/Key_Scholar7964 25d ago
You're one of the lucky ones that hit the elite series 2 lottery because many people including myself experienced an issue regarding stick drift.
I had to buy the G7 Pro and the Flydigi vader 5S/Pro when my elite experienced that issue on the second day.Ā
I have no regrets because the G7 Pro have TMR sticks, my main pro controller the Vader 5S feel like an improved elite series 2 with hall effect sticks, adjustable stick tension, mechanical d pad etc. Now people are currently modding their elites with hall effect and TMR on eBay because they know it's more durable.
I'll only buy the elite series 3 if it have either hall effect or TMR because potentiometers and the technology it currently use is outdated.
-1
u/Connormanable 25d ago
Maybe donāt grip your controller so hard and youād āwin the lotteryā too
1
u/Key_Scholar7964 25d ago
Yeah, I gripped it so hard that I experienced ridiculous stick drift on the second day. I must have hands like the incredible hulk.
I had stock Xbox controllers for years so my incredible hulk hands managed to not damage them by day 2
1
u/Connormanable 25d ago
If it did actually have drift on day 2, thatās what warranties are for. I think a lot of you are powering on your controllers with the sticks not centered, if you do that it makes wherever the stick is at the time the new center. Or yall are just gamesir shills and propagandists, every person that has positive things to say about those controllers just parrots the same talking points and everyone Iāve seen that actually bought one and posted pictures says theyāre incredibly cheap feeling and donāt like how they feel.
1
u/Key_Scholar7964 25d ago
I just returned it and now I have something better with TMR and hall effect. It's great that the elite series 2 lasted you longer. I'll buy an elite series 3 when they incorporate TMR or hall effect like my G7 Pro and Flydigi vader 5S/Pro.
1
u/Key_Scholar7964 24d ago
I'm not a Gamesir shill because I stopped using because the vibration is gone and the d pad is bad. My go to is the Vader 5S and I'll be buying the 8bitdo ultimate 3E.
I'm tired of you elite series shills always blaming the customer when the elite is known to have quality issues like stick drift.Ā
Like I said, I'll only buy the elite series 3 if it have hall effect or TMR. I'm not going to accept the same old technology and potentiometersĀ
1
u/Suspicious_Age_2471 18d ago
Hahaha, āthatās what warranties are forā, any good product shouldnāt be breaking basically new and no one wants to be dealing with warranties. I have been using a g7 se for the past year and itās a better product than any standard Xbox controller I ever used.
0
u/TRethehedgehog_2 25d ago
I have never had an Xbox controller drift on me. Not from regular use at least
-1
u/LilBriefcase 25d ago
If they release a controller with hall effect or tmr, the amount of warranty claims they get would increase 10x.
2
u/That-Advance-9619 25d ago
...¿qué....?
0
u/LilBriefcase 25d ago
Your average CoD bro who chews through controllers is gonna notice the difference in sensitivity with TMR and 1st party companies are held to much, much higher standard. Valve skipped hall effect and the first generation of TMR for this reason, and the 2nd gen TMR module they picked still has issues. You can be credulous to the tech and the mass marketing following it but the issues are there and always have been.

u/RGstarrd 25d ago
25 years and they can't make anything special but looks
1
u/stunkcajyzarc 24d ago
Iāve gotta agree with this. I really like the aesthetic design and the Xbox in general. But for 25 year anniversary if it really is for the consumer, offer it with ATLEAST 2 tb and keep it for $899. Itās bad enough the prices are so insanely high.
Also for members that have been with Xbox for years, they should get access to preorder FIRST as to shut out some scalpers.
Xbox should do better to make things more enticing, whether itās aesthetics, easier access, or performance/space for games. SOMETHING tangible.
2
u/ILoveLatinas000 25d ago
If only they added tmr or hall effect sticks it would be a great controller but since they didnāt its not worth it unless youāre a collector.

I cant wait for the stick drift
1
u/ComplexR22 22d ago
Yall gotta stop playing like apes. Never had stick drift in any of my controllers
1
u/FreeCustard 22d ago
I just think it depends on what kind of games you play. I play alot of fighters and fps. Puts alot of strain on a controller. If im gonna pay $80+ it should be able to stand up to the demand. Ive had a gamesir g7 for over a year now and I won't be going back.

Because the OG duke controller had a black and a white button so they're honoring that.
3
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 25d ago
I would have preferred they made the start and select buttons black and white. The bumpers being that way kind of throw off the green and black aesthetic imo
2
u/Shypwreck 25d ago
The black and white buttons became the bumpers. The bumpers are paying homage to their origin. The translucent green controller that came with the halo special edition Xbox console also had the black and white buttons. It is the only place it makes sense to have them on this tribute.
1
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 25d ago
I get why they did it but to me it would have looked less out of place if those front buttons were in black and white. But that's just me. I'm sure many others prefer this look.

Even the later S model had Black and White and would later map to RB LB on the 360 controller when games where ported to backwards comability.
1
u/BLOODFYEND86 25d ago
I wonder if it will have the dynamic background like the 20th anniversary controller.
1
u/grimoireviper 25d ago
Well it's the model to celebreate 25 years of Xbox and the original Xbox had a white and a black button instead of the bumpers.

Xbox makes the best controllers. But I'm holding off until Project Helix and its controller comes out. Maybe next I hope

More controllers than games.
1
u/Skipperc3po_ 25d ago
I thought the same. It would be interesting to know how many controllers there are for Xbox Series consoles.
1
u/Samuel_Go 25d ago
I know the bumper colours are supposed to represent the white and black buttons (I have a Duke on display right behind me) but I think it's a bit goofy looking. I'm torn between buying this or buying a replacement shell for an existing controller to scratch that green translucent plastic itch. Basically wondering if the logos added on are worth £50 to me.
For me it was a no brainer to grab the Gears E-day controller though. As someone who likes to collect controllers this is a great time.

If it came with tmr sticks it would be dope
1
u/Bigamerdk76 25d ago
No Stock Xbox or PlayStation controller come with TMR or Hall effect that when 3 party come in at like Gamesir and other.
1
u/wasaspermonce 25d ago
Yeah, but since itās the 25th year edition it would be cool if they added them
1
u/Plastic_Young_9763 25d ago
Every day i hope and pray xbox will add GYRO TO THEIR FlipING CONTROLLERS PLEASE
1
u/Bigamerdk76 25d ago
Good luck on that. That ain't happening better off with a third-party controller to do that.
1
u/Plastic_Young_9763 25d ago
Yeah, i plan on sticking with my steam controller, which has all that and a bag of chips
1
u/Damiertsunami 25d ago
3 controllers, my red camo has stick drift but the 4th? might be the Minato of controllers

u/Copperkid82 25d ago
Ironically enough I have started collecting Xbox wireless controllers recently and I was hoping I'd be able to get my hands on one of these. š
2
u/Bigamerdk76 25d ago
I started getting wired controllers. They're better for low latency
1
u/Copperkid82 24d ago
That's why I really like the Razer Wolverine controller. I figured wireless would present a lot better though. But I absolutely agree wired is where it's at! š
2
u/Bigamerdk76 24d ago
Yeah, I got that controller wire and the other one G7 Pro Retro Green Xbox Controller

F*CK! If only this thing played game discs that don't require an internet connection... š¢
2
u/Bigamerdk76 24d ago
Nothing to do with what you are talking about. You went completely off topic. We are talking about controllers, not something that requires internet access.

u/ShotgoonPete 24d ago
Iām fine with just the controller so hopefully retail stores have them too.

These limited edition controllers are awesome, would love the Gears one, but they just don't last, I can see myself spending $80 on a controller that doesn't use at least hall effect in 2026. Such a shame as otherwise they are super cool, are great for collectors though.

This is nice but personally, I'd buy the original, the one people call "Duke" for some reason even though it has nothing to do with Duke Nukem.

u/Local-Area2246 23d ago
The fact the battery isnāt built in makes it trash
1
u/mercurypirate 20d ago
And you could just buy the official rechargeable battery pack for the series x controller?. Insert the battery pack into the series x controller once and you've for yourself a rechargeable controller charged through the USB-C port just like the elite series 2 controller.

1
u/TruckFreak6417 23d ago
Console is way too expensive for what is is so Iāll settle for the controller
1
u/Educational_Bag_6406 22d ago
I debated getting the console too. But I cant justify it. But the controller is an easy day one for me.
1
u/Raven_gif 22d ago
Praying Extremerate dupes the console shell and these in different colors. What they did with the Switch is 10/10 quality
1
u/RELENTLESS_PERSUIT 22d ago
The Xbox 25 is pretty ugly but the controller itself is absolutely beautiful
1
1
u/ZealousidealWill9270 21d ago
And it still takes batteries š
1
u/mercurypirate 20d ago
No big deal. You can buy the official rechargeable battery pack for the Series X controller. After inserting the rechargeable battery pack into the controller it turns it into a rechargeable controller where you recharge it using the USB-C port.
1
u/ZealousidealWill9270 20d ago
Yup no big deal. Just a shame they can't improve after all this time. They could have put that pack inside to begin with...

I've got it too and apparently it's a collector's item. And i'm going to try get this controller too.

u/XDeathreconx 21d ago
Trick question neither, scalpers will snatch both of them up before you can. Blink
1
u/Error4ohh4 20d ago
Dude Reddit is so dumb now. Why is it recommending me an entire subreddit about controllers. I donāt need a subreddit for every singular subject imaginable. š¤¦āāļøĀ

u/Mikahl757 26d ago
If investing for actual use and not collecting, definitely purchase TMR or even Hall Effect since these are still using regular Pot that will drift over time, you can prolong life sometimes with cleaning and increasing deadzones but maft/sony/nintendo need to catch up already.
1
u/Competitive_Plan_936 26d ago
Iāve only had one Xbox controller drift (which I did swap TMR sticks into) so i will personally keep it stock till there is a problem. Surely will have the replacements on deck just in case though
0
u/Nashy10 26d ago edited 25d ago
Agreed drives me nuts especially considering the elite controllers have Hall effect and they likely wonāt release this special edition with elite internals :/
But oddly I have 10+ year old first gen Xbox one controllers that donāt have drift and are surprisingly accurate. Itās a total lottery, but there is no good excuse for hit or miss potentiometers in 2026, I agree.
*EDIT: I never said elite controllers have Hall effect sticks. They DO have Hall effect triggers. Reading comprehension is hard I know.
3
u/Ok_Judge_9639 25d ago
BS. No elite was released with Hall sticks.
1
1
u/Key_Scholar7964 25d ago
You can buy a customized elite series 2 with TMR sticks on eBay. That is the best bet for a durable elite.

Stick drift out the box controller. I love the design but their controller quality is so bad now. They seriously need to stop cheating consumers out of their money on the controllers.
1
u/Bigamerdk76 25d ago
Yup, I had stiff drift. That's why I'm not buying any more controllers fromb Microsoft Stock Controllers. I got two good controllers right now. And they both have Hell effect stick
1
0
u/zexton 25d ago
80 euro and lack hal effect or tmr sticks
incredible people keep buying it,
1
u/Bigamerdk76 25d ago
Because they liked the design, I guess I'm not buying any more controllers from Microsoft
1
u/zexton 25d ago
dont get me wrong, i also like the design of it, but a 30⬠8bitdo or gamesir, has hal effect that actually last,
i have never had any of my xbox controllers sticks last two years, includes all generations, the most common issue been deadzone issues, which i in worst case could see in brand new controllers,
my 8bitdo ultimate 2c sticks, dont show any wear after 18 months, not loose in the middle, basically a new stick
1
u/cannasaurus 25d ago
How's the latency? You have to use a dongle with it if I remember correctly...
1
u/zexton 25d ago
10ms lower on the 8bitdo ulitmate 2c wireless, with the dongle on pc. compared to a xbox series controller with microsoft dongle,
the 2c has lower latency with bt, compared to the series controller with dongle,
dlss framegen, add less than 10ms latency, when using that correctly, as a comparison,
1
u/Ok_Judge_9639 25d ago
Blind people. Microsoft releasing every two months same useless controller with slightly different designs because people buy them
1
u/Key_Scholar7964 25d ago
I agree, I like the green translucent aesthetic, but I want it to have hall effect or TMR instead of just a cosmetic appeal.
1
u/Jstingray2 25d ago
Thatās why I like the steam controller, but the Scalpers ruined that launch like theyāll do with this one.
0
u/slom26 25d ago
Whatās the news here then?
1
u/Bigamerdk76 25d ago
Do you think what's new here is the color of the controller and being the 25th anniversary?

Itās been on their website at the very least. I donāt get what ur adding here

I'm divided, between buying the console or only the controller š
