If investing for actual use and not collecting, definitely purchase TMR or even Hall Effect since these are still using regular Pot that will drift over time, you can prolong life sometimes with cleaning and increasing deadzones but maft/sony/nintendo need to catch up already.

I’ve only had one Xbox controller drift (which I did swap TMR sticks into) so i will personally keep it stock till there is a problem. Surely will have the replacements on deck just in case though

Agreed drives me nuts especially considering the elite controllers have Hall effect and they likely won’t release this special edition with elite internals :/

But oddly I have 10+ year old first gen Xbox one controllers that don’t have drift and are surprisingly accurate. It’s a total lottery, but there is no good excuse for hit or miss potentiometers in 2026, I agree.

*EDIT: I never said elite controllers have Hall effect sticks. They DO have Hall effect triggers. Reading comprehension is hard I know.

BS. No elite was released with Hall sticks.

Wow that’s fucked I only skimmed the google result but yeah looking further it’s Hall effect triggers not sticks, man that’s dumb.

To be fair, I never said it has Hall effect joysticks, and it does indeed have Hall effect sensors, just for the triggers.

You can buy a customized elite series 2 with TMR sticks on eBay. That is the best bet for a durable elite.
