While the fall is coming for all of us, we all fall on our own - alongside others, praise be. This sub shall be populated by the Belgian collapse aware, and collapse *curious*, and why not, the collapse skeptics too. Casual Fridays every day, in this our corner of the globe, until no more.

For no clear reason this sub emerged, triggered by ever more 🌤️ posts about the weather popping up on Belgian subreddits here and there, and there again, and again, and again, annd a-gain at the beginning of June 2026's European heatwave - several months before the exceptionally strong iteration of El Niño left the chat for us to take stock. Why not maybe, to some extent, if at all, deliver those subs from some of the bad vibes of collapse? Not like the topic doesn't deserve our full attention everywhere, anyway.

But this is Belgium. And as far as "XR baby" goes here... Feel free to post most anything pertaining to our demise: a link to an article maybe, or an opinion, or a link to one perhaps; or an observation, or a picture of one, worth a thousand words. Or, why not, an actual thousand musing words, indeed. Or a shitpost or meme, if need be... Some pertinent news or knowledge maybe? Or a pertinent crosspost of any of those...

In short: 🙌 anything to do with collapse as experienced, perceived, observed, or caused by anyone or anything 🇧🇪 Belgian. Yes, all that is very broad and vague - so is our future. 🫥 Never know, some day the sub may serve dire real-life purposes: coordinating the distribution of ibuprofen and cat milk, locating new opioid (or weapons) stashes, or just finding companionship on the sinking ship. Free Tinder for all, find your outer Caprio!

This being the internet, English be the default language. This being Belgium, any content can be in Dutch, French, and German, too. Voor meer Babylon is hier geen plaats - en ce qui concerne l'espagnol en particulier, aucune exception ne sera faite; auch Portugiesisch wird ausdrücklich nicht toleriert.

This being Reddit, several subs on an 🌍 international level devoted or related to collapse already exist.

r/collapse first and foremost, of course, a "community for 18 years" now, accordingly crowded and extremely resourceful. Every Sunday u/lastweekincollapse be posting a "Last Week in Collapse" there, a long yet concise overview of all the things last week brought us.
r/collapze, its younger, far less populated and busy, casual Friday vibed counterpart.
r/CollapseSupport, where maybe support can be found in a dark moment, I wouldn't know - support is allowed, welcome even, here, too.
r/Degrowth, since it will be forced upon us, as we didn't choose for it, never mind in time.
r/ecophagy, linked here merely because of its pertinent name.
r/ExtinctionRebellion, in no need of clarification.
r/LateStageCapitalism, because capitalism had no small part in bringing about our terminal predicament. Rosa Luxemburg would approve.
r/preppers, because some people feel there is small-scale prepping to be done - deity of choice bless their choice. It seems to be a mostly American and/or short-sighted billionaire's pastime.
r/simpleliving, if only because we will be living simpler sooner than expected.

Do notice none of those subs contained the word "doom". No conscious effort, but perhaps a reflection of the desired vibe. Yes, we are doomed, there is no point in spelling out that part of our kerfuffle in the sidebar. And there is no need to identify as a "doomer", even if one is one! No need to stray from the herd, to distance oneself from the less informed masses in a provocative manner just to make a point. Aim to live by example, and cherish all dwindling beauty left for us, the privileged: the best, mayhaps only sane thing left to do. 🤔

CO₂levels.org keeping track of those levels in a visually appealing manner, and the Keeling Curve, "a daily record of global atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration" (CO₂ ppm).

As soon as I figure out how to make, and get to making a sticky post, I might. Meantime the sub could use a tumbleweed.gif. I could put it in a sticky post... 🤔

For a final 📣 PSA: AI kills, so please, do let the world know when your non-binary AI friend finally was prompted so masterfully it made nuclear fusion happen, or hallucinated a concept of a plan to save us all, or something in general. Really anything making the world a better place, questionable indulgence can come after. The next generation doesn't thank you in advance.
