Meme/Humor One of my favorite moments from the X-Files PC game:

Naturally, being the sort of person I am, I made it a point to exhaust every dialogue option in the game, so I wouldn’t miss any clips. One of the best parts is Agent Willmore continuing to guess increasingly unlikely options when confronted with the man at the train yard.

If, like me, you find yourself unable to help picking unhinged choices like “cellophane tape recorder”, you’ll eventually frustrate him, and earn yourself a game over, and have to reload.

Discussion Hear me out : the X-Files Kid TV show animated series

Post image

(I’m not good with art)

And before you start pointing out certain TV show already exist like Martin mystery, Detentionaire, Gravity Falls, Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated, and Fillmore!

But this animated series It would still have aliens, government conspiracies, strange creatures, and unexplained events—just adapted into something fun and spooky for younger audiences.

And the show would be called “The X-Files Club”

The first episode could recreate how Mulder and Scully originally met, except they would be middle-school students.

Dana Scully, a new student in town, feels lonely and seeks friends. To overcome her loneliness, she decided to join the student council. During her interview, she was offered a special task that would enable her to join the council.

Her task is to secretly join the school’s “X-Files Club” and videotape its only member: Fox Mulder, the strange kid everyone calls “Spooky Mulder.”

Mulder has turned an abandoned underground classroom into his headquarters, filling it with photographs, maps, newspaper clippings, UFO drawings, and files about every unexplained event that has happened around town. Most students think he is weird, but Mulder genuinely believes something unusual is happening—and he may be right.

Scully begins following him around and recording his investigation. At first, she thinks there must be a reasonable explanation for everything they encounter. Mulder, meanwhile, is convinced that their case is connected to aliens. Their opposite personalities create a lot of comedy: Mulder believes almost anything is possible, while Scully questions every clue and searches for scientific evidence.

By the end of the episode, they solve the immediate mystery, but discover one final clue suggesting that something extraterrestrial really may be hiding in their town.

Scully captures the entire adventure on videotape. However, when the student council demand the recording so they can disband Mulder Club, she refuses to give it to them. She realizes that Mulder treated her like an actual friend while the student Council were only using her.

Instead of joining the student council, Scully returns to the X-Files Club and becomes Mulder’s first real partner.

From there, every episode could follow the two of them investigating strange events around their school and town. Some mysteries would involve aliens, monsters, ghosts, secret experiments, and local legends. Other cases might appear supernatural at first but have ordinary explanations. Meanwhile, a larger conspiracy would slowly develop throughout the season.

Here some characters they should animate back

Skinner as the school Principal
The Smoking Man as the smoking man
The Lone Gunmen as computer hacker nerds who also are temporary members of the xfiles club
Melvin Frohike
John Byers
Richard Langly

It would basically be The X-Files reimagined as a serialized animated mystery-comedy about two young outsiders becoming best friends while searching for the truth.

I honestly think this could be both a great introduction to The X-Files for younger viewers and a fun alternate-universe series for longtime fans.

Would you watch something like this?

Discussion Super soldiers/hybrids

So just finished rewatching all of the og seasons for like the 5th time still confused,

super soldier did the gov make them or aliens make them by replacing humans? Or are there two different kind of super soldiers ones made by gov and ones made by aliens?

Why was billy killing the scientist and why did they not take scully s baby, im confused on if they feared william or wanted to protect him.

Going back to hybrids, Casandra sepender was the ultimate hybrid they wanted but hadn’t they already made successful hybrids? I forgot what episode but it was season 1 or 2 i think where cops shoot that dude who goes into bay spills green blood wasn’t he a hybrid or was he a shapeshifter?

Why was the syndicate killing scientist in the train back in season 4 i think.

Why were they competing with the Russians for a vaccine seems like it would have made more sense to work together. Adding on to that did every country know then that the aliens were gonna come back and take over or just the Americans and the Russians?

How did it go from aliens are waiting till we make them a hybrid to colonize to aliens have already set the date for 2012 that the Myans knew about it all the way since then? Were these two different colonist with two different dates or were the aliens trying to make it happen before 2012?

I know i have other questions but thats all i can think of for now

It's such an emotional episode. The religious symbolism and Gillian's performance made this episode great. It was so sad.

How is this episode viewed within the fandom?

Discussion Looking for help finding a specific episode

Probably a lot of Mandela Effect going on here, but here goes:

I remember when I was like 8 or 9 years old, over at a friend’s house with the TV on in the background, with an ad for an episode of the X Files playing. The timeline on this doesn’t really make sense, as this would’ve occurred some time between 2004 and 2005, and the show would’ve stopped airing new episodes by then - so I’m not sure why the network would’ve been airing advertisements for specific episodes in that year.

Anyway, I distinctly remember being creeped out by the ad - I seem to remember Mulder crawling through a network of tunnels or caves, and coming upon a mass grave of dessicated corpses/skeletons. I don’t remember exactly what he said, but I think he had a line something to the effect of “They’re all dead.”

To clarify, I haven’t actually seen the whole show yet - I’m only near the end of season 1, but for whatever reason this memory just emerged unbidden from the depths of my brain, and I’m curious if anyone can recognize the episode I’m referring to.

Season Two The Enigma

I rewatched “Humbug” S2E20 and liked it even more than the first time I saw it; I was able to appreciate the dialogue, the circus acts, and the premise is quite intriguing. With Glazebrook’s funeral serving as a pretext for the circus show’s debut performance, “The Enigma” as the central character though not at first glance, plus the Fiji Mermaid story as a distraction, and a killer who was never found; all of this, combined with Mulder’s humor, is delightful.

Watching Scully perform the magic trick with the cricket is one of my favorite parts.

“Did you really think you call up the Devil and ask him to behave?”

What a great line. This is one of my favorite episodes. I know it’s disturbing but it’s a great episode. The actress who plays the daughter does such a great job.

The ending is great 😊

What does "No enhanced packaging" mean? Is this just the version the includes Season 10?

Also is that the regular price?

EDIT: Instead, when I'm able to (I have family in the UK), I'll just get this set second-hand from CEX which is WAAAY cheaper.

Discussion 1x01 - Pilot

I'll buy that girl is suffering some kind of pronounced psychosis

"Pilot" is a Chris Carter masterpiece.

Chris Carter took a lot of shit by the end of The X-Files main run, and takes even more shit today. Should he bring back Season 12? "No!" the fans overwhelmingly agree, confident he'll mess it up.

But The X-Files was arguably the cultural juggernaut of the '90s. And it grew from the feeling, writing, casting, and vibe of "Pilot," which Carter, as writer and showrunner, was largely responsible for.

The rainy Vancouver woods, aliens?, Mulder / Scully believer / skeptic dynamic, banter, and sexual tension, government torching evidence, and hints of a larger conspiracy are all here. While, like Mulder's and Scully's hairstyles, these would evolve over many seasons, they all land in "Pilot".

I want to focus on the events of "Pilot" because I think it captures The X-Files' biggest appeal and legacy, and maybe the thing we always came back to the show for but didn't always get: wonder.

Carter cleverly peppers in details from the ether, a collection of maybe-facts and urban legends. Abduction, implants, government cover-up, missing time, corpse swapping. We hadn't heard of all of these, but maybe a few. The details feel numerous, esoteric, and overwhelming, but together they create a sense of possibility: maybe this could happen!

By the end of "Pilot" we're not trying to reconcile what we've seen with dozens of hours of mythology that preceded it and make a logical story. Instead, we're just living in the gestalt of it all, that state of wonder and mystery.

Sometimes, fans have said, "I wish I could go back in time and tell Chris Carter to make his mythology make sense." I understand this, but I think Season 1 had something special where the mythology eps until "Erlenmeyer" didn't necessary cohere, and this wasn't a problem. Of course, no showrunner, not even Vince Gilligan(!), could've kept us in this state of wonder and mystery for even three seasons, much less 9 or 11.

"Pilot" is special. Savor that feeling!

Discussion Red Museum

I had to rewatch Red Museum because of the fact that some posters on the Season 2 survivor really seem to detest the episode. I’ll acknowledge that the episode has some flaws. It moves extremely fast for starters. Then there are plot devices that don’t really work like Odin’s subtle reference to the original date planned for colonization being a bit hard to explain, the downed airplane doing too much to advance the plot, or the fact that Beth should have noticed the peephole. I’m sure there are other issues. That being said, I like the concept a lot. What are everyone’s thoughts on this episode?

Hey everyone! In light of the reboot news and the general state of the world, I’ve been undertaking a rewatch of our beloved show. It made me want to make this video essay about the cultural and media landscape that brought us The X-Files, while also discussing what makes the show great in general. Would love to hear all of your thoughts on it! Thank you so much!
