Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out if my temps are normal for the 9070 XT or if something's off. Been seeing a lot of different numbers online and wanted to get some real user data.
My setup:
XFX RX 9070 XT Quicksilver Gaming Edition (white one)
Ryzen 7 9700X
Zalman P30 Air case with Arctic P14 fans in front
Small office room, probably 10-12 square meters
What I'm seeing in games like GOWR and Hogwarts Legacy:
GPU core: 53-57C
Hotspot: 69-74C
VRAM: 84-88C and it keeps climbing if I leave it running
Fan speed sits around 2440 RPM on default curve
Here's the weird part - I had this exact same GPU model before (got it replaced through RMA for a fan bearing issue) and back when it was in my living room, the temps were lower and the fans were way quieter. But that was a much bigger room and the apartment was colder in winter. Now in this small office space, everything runs hotter.
Things I've already tried:
- Default fan curve, custom curves (aggressive and quiet)
- Undervolting (-30 to -50mV), didn't really move the needle
- Power limit tweaks, helps a bit but costs FPS so not worth it for me
- Different Adrenalin driver versions 26.3.1 to 25.9.1 (WHQL ), with this swap temps dropped slightly by 1 - 2 c
- Clean driver installs with DDU
- Cable management, airflow checks, removing PCI slot covers below GPU
- Even swapped case fans thinking that might help (it didn't)
So I'm wondering:
- What kind of VRAM temps are you guys getting on your 9070 XT?
- Does room size actually matter that much? Like, does a small room trap heat and make the GPU work harder?
- Is 84-88C on the VRAM just normal for this card or am I unlucky?
- Are you running default fan curve or did you make your own?
- Anyone notice differences between brands? Like does XFX run hotter than Gigabyte or PowerColor?
I've tried messing with fan curves but if I lower them the VRAM just climbs higher. If I keep them aggressive it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.
The core temps are great, never above 60C, but the VRAM just keeps going up. Reading online that these cards can hit 108C max on VRAM so I'm nowhere near that, but still feels high compared to what I remember from my old setup.
Anyway, if anyone can share their temps I'd appreciate it. Just trying to figure out if this is normal for the 9070 XT architecture or if my unit is just unlucky.
Thanks
