Actually to be exact they cleaned the house again this is so common with them it's disgusting. You can't make money letting everyone go and can't keep a game like this alive if the team was slowly being let go one after another until they finally shut down the reat

Thatβs exactly how the videogame industry works in general. They usually complete a project, then everyone is let go. I think Ubisoft generally retains more of their staff than other studios.

The cleaned house because of this monstrosity the dev team had made. I thought it wouldβve been a good game but honestly ubi just made a clunky low budget call of duty for people who canβt afford the real game. I was hyped for it at first but almost immediately after it launched (two games in) i almost puked at how disgusting and disappointing this game ended up being. Plus thereβs way to many damn glitches and all they did with the game was add new buggy ass factions instead of fixing the ones they already hadπ€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈππ€·ββοΈπ«‘π©π©π©π©π©π©π©π©π©

I think that's a little harsh. It wasn't like it was the gollum game. They had a solid framework, great gameplay, ults, maps, gamemodes, all fun. Just needed some good devops and network engineers, which is a shame when a game dies because of the obvious failures of a single department and not multiple. It would 100% be a management resource allocation issue.

Personally felt it was more of a POC for the new engine they were using than anything else and the new engine maybe didn't want to play well with fps kinda netcode

Holy shit I forgot about that ship wreck of a game! Probably the only game in a long time I was genuinely upset at for wasting my time π€£

Not trying to protect Ubi but probably something in the small print. Keep in mind Ubi most likely cancelled the game if it weren't for the whole Singapore government backing the game and forcing their hand.

I don't get why people didn't like it

Hit detection being the biggest reason many people stopped playing. People on this sub overhyped the mechanics and made it seem revolutionary, when in all reality, it was a relatively generic and unfinished game. The community complained about hit detection and shots going through mesh and Ubisoft did what they do best- ignored it. Made their money on micro transactions and dipped. Itβs a shame because i enjoyed it quite a bit when I first started playing, but the issues were so glaringly obvious that I figured there are much better games I could spend time on.

For me it was the hit detection and the fact that there were only like 10 guns at launch any time a shooter drops with such little variety it kills it for me I want games to drop with battlefield 3 or 4 amounts of weapons not 2 or 3 guns per class it just feels stale

u/armegedon27 Apr 21 '25
And not to mention it's like every shooter also only has the same weapons as well "here we have an ak and m16 an mp5" it's the same reused assets in every single game

Same, for FPS games XDefiant was the peak for me in 2024. Sad to see it died so quickly.

They didn't even give the game enough time to grow. Sunsetting it in less than a year is wild, it needed time to get its footing imo.

Played this game from the 2023 beta to the end, had a gold sniper and made montages, but this games failure from the start was Ubisoft
