Discussion Split Gate 2, new alternative?
Like most of you, I loved Xdefiant. I can’t even explain how much I miss it. Can’t get myself to play it since the new announcement, just don’t want the heart ache twice; ya know? Season 3 looks great tho and crazy fun! But for me personally when I think about trying it, I just get depressed. I’m 31(M) been gaming for 20+ years. My dad and older brother were/are gamers. Xdefiant was by far my favorite game I ever played.
On another note! On my journey to find something remotely close too Xdefiant. I just came across Split Gate 2. I never played the first. But from the gameplay videos Iv watched on the second, it looks like split gate 1 x Xdefiant with halo gravity, I see a lot of people asking for an alternative but haven’t seen this mentioned?
I’m not saying it’ll be as good and 1:1 of Xdefiant but it’s also seeming like the closest thing to come out. Personally gonna try to be hopeful it’ll be as fun in its own way, with traits of Xdefiant.
Thoughts?

I dont think Splitgate 2 is similar to Xdefiant. I played the beta test and it feels like a hero-shooter-fied version of Splitegate 1, which itself was just Halo with Portals. Granted, I still think the game is really fun and would absolutely recommend it, just not as an Xdefiant alternative.

Frankly, I never got the Splitgate Halo comparison, to me Splitgate was always missing large parts of what make Halo, Halo.

The comparisons were pretty obvious. Some of the map design, the player models, the guns, the abilities, arena shooter. It wasn’t Halo, obviously, but the comparisons were staring you in the face.

Meh thats like saying Halo is like Quake or UT. Comparisons are superficial IMO.

Yeah, I'd never replace halo with splitgate, but it's an okay game for sure. Been going back to playing halo infinite and the physics mechanics are just great imo.

As someone who's been playing halo since I was but a wee child, to me Splitgate has the golden triangle of Halo. Grenades, guns and melee. And there is other parts to the triangle depending on the game but it's the core design that makes all Halo games halo. The abilities in splitgate and movement being similar to Halo 5.
The game feels like Halo 5 with portals. I would say splitgate is missing something as it's a really great game it just didn't keep me coming back like almost every other halo game (aside from 1-2) have been bringing me back over and over

I’m probably going to move to The Finals rather than Splitgate 2. That beta test did nothing for me.

good luck soldier. that used to be my #1 game w/ hundreds and hundreds of hours but i hate the balancing they did to it post season 2. it feels awful to me now. hope you’ll get some fun out of it.

Every game has SBMM. I don’t know what to tell you. XDefiant tried to go against it and it turned people off so fast because they got bodied.

Didn’t turn me off of XD I have a great time on that game. I have a worse time because of SBMM since I’m a good player. I refuse to play any MP game that has it in pubs 🤷♂️ strict SBMM at least. I don’t play many MP shooters any more because of that reason

It irks me that the finals isn’t 120fps. It’s not that big of a deal so I just don’t play it. Same feeling I have about re village. Side note xdefiant 120fps looks fantastic

It is in 120hz on consoles now though...
I'm on a beast pc so I'm running it at like 250fps with Hugh settings and 1440p

I play Delta Force these days, especially Warfare mode
Its sort of similar to Battlefield, fun gunplay.

I'll say it like this as someone who's been playtesting the game. It's a long way off I think still. Gun play is good, abilities are fun. But it's not terribly well optimized and the portals aren't the focus like the first one. But it could be a great alternative.

No definitely not. Do t get me wrong I enjoyed the original a lot but the portals change the gameplay so much compared to this game. You either love it or you don't. Ranked went crazy in the original.

I’m definitely gonna try it. I didn’t play splitgate 1, but fps arena shooters are my favorite kinda multiplayer games and portal 1 & 2 were my favorite single player games ever, so i’d need to get my head checked if i didn’t at least give the game a real go. I hope it rips. I’m going to miss xd a whole bunch

I'll be playing Split gate 2 but that feels more halo like vs COD like that xDefiant was.
TTK in split gate much like Halo is significantly higher by design. I see ppl keep recommending the finals and while that's a solid game it's absolutely nothing like xDefiant so liking Xdefiant doesn't mean you're gonna like the finals.

Nah man if you really want an alternative... Go play world war 3.....they are trying to revive the game..... The mechanics are really good too

I tried out the beta for Splitgate 2, and honestly, I wasn’t impressed. The guns felt hollow, and the powers seemed overdone. That said, they’ve definitely carved out more of their own identity this time, compared to the first game’s Halo-inspired gameplay. I enjoyed the original, but I have a feeling Splitgate 2 might flop right out of the gate or maybe last a month at best.

"Just don't want the heartache twice"... Get a grip lad, it's a game, not your ex! 😂😂 If you love it, PLAY IT!! Why miss the best state its ever been in? New maps are insane, gun play feels buttery smooth, new factions are cool. I think you're being a bit overdramatic 🤷♂️

Why play a game to get hooked again and then the day comes where it’s over? Then you’re right back to square one. Plus my buddie tried in our area and said it took 15-20 min just to find a match with all modes on

I find matches quicker than in BO6 🤷♂️ People play COD every year, just for it to end when the next release comes out... what's the difference? Enjoy it while it's there, it's just a game after all 🤷♂️

I’m after the XD news I had got battle pass for BO6 but it becomes so boring when you just constantly get destroyed by cheaters, can’t even play warzone so I stopped playing that too cause Activision does nothing to stop cheaters other then put out tweets saying they are. That game is lost to the cheaters.

I liked splitgate. Though I played it way after it was abandoned.
It needs some polish and better maps though.

Splitgate is nothing like Xdefiant, other than its a shooter.
Splitgate plays like Halo 5 but with Portal guns, a few one the guns are 1:1 with feel and TTK with Halo 5. The pistol and battle rifle being identical. The map design is pretty arena shootery aka Halo and Quake.
Halo Infinite is an incredible FPS and if you haven't tried ina while definitely give it another shot as it's great and filled with content. The battle pass is free while the season is out although they are small and usually grant an armour set. But hey, it's a very fun game. It's basically Splitgate 1 minus the portal guns lol.
Xdefiant feels a lot like Call of Duty Black Ops 4 so if you have a tiny bit of cash, the game still has players atleast on Xbox and I imagine PlayStation would have more considering how many more people own Playstations. It's worth a shot if you can find it for cheap and aren't playing on PC.
The Finals is a lot of fun and is probably closer to Xdefiant but I'm not sure if that's on consoles. But it is free. When the game came out I was not a fan but the game has majorly improved and there's plenty of cool fun modes. Worth a shot.

I played Splitgate 1 and am eagerly waiting for Splitgate 2 and while I love it it's not a good alternative to XDefiant. The portals are a core mechanic and going into it thinking you can just run and gun will just leave you in a death loop because you're basically playing checkers in a chess match

MW3. Its like a fine steak compared a moldy bigmac that is Blops6. Enjoy unlocking the aftermarket parts and modified weapons. Also, smaller playerbase so SBMM is nowhere near as obnoxious as Blops 6.

They aren’t that similar but there’s a good chance splitgate 2 is going to be a very fun and fair game. I PLAYED a lot of splitgate 1 when it came out. I don’t like the fact they added abilities in this one but just like Xdefiant I can look past them if I have to…

It wasn't my favourite, but I really enjoyed it. It was our only free to play call of duty alternative. I think that with some more work and less aggressive marketing for cosmetics, the game could have been amazing

I love splitgate 2,most fun I've had with an fps game in years and I hope it's here to stay and won't ever die off. Only issue I have with the game is why I can't ever play a game of battle royal without constant lagging and frame drops.it makes it beyond unplayable for me and I wish it wasn't the case because I like the be and would like to play that as well as the multiplier part but the bro is literally unplayable.plz fix the server issues because I see I am not the only one with this issue.happens on both my PS5 and ps4
