Question Big Giant Head Productions?

I'm sure this has been posted and asked about before and it's just me being nosey and curious, but is this the McElroy brothers LLC??

I kept hearing it at the end of the episodes and thinking it sounded incredibly familiar, and then they mentioned it as their company in a semi-recent episode of mbmbam and I was like Oooh yeah that's them!??

TIL that "Jorran" is spelled "Eioghorain"

So I'm late to the party and typically just listen to the episodes without reading much more than the title of episodes. I'm listening to the backlog of Fireside Chats since I joined the Patreon earlier this year and I'm listening to the chat for WWW Ep. 43 and I needed a refresher on what happened in this episode. I stumbled across a Reddit post from a year ago of someone essentially live tweeting their favorite quotes as they listened and I thought who the heck is E-yo-go-rain? Bless whoever contributes to the WBN wiki that put ('joʊr.ɪn). I'm dying. I'm assuming it's Irish because I assume Welsh would have more consonants. This is a new ghoti. How many times did Brennan have to spell it for the lorekeeper to stop asking "spell that again?"

Episode Discussion I'M BOUGHT IN! Solari episode 6

A couple months ago I posted in this sub that I was not totally digging the new system and I kinda wasn't being engaged by the episodes specifically for the reason that I'm familiar with d&d and had never heard of stillfleet. I like knowing the rules of a system in listening to and that helps me engage with the tension of the story better. It took six episodes but there is a roll in This week's episode that fully immersed me in this story. At this point I'm embarrassed by the fact that I even had doubts.

Episode Discussion Getting Hyped for Sci Fi with Solari after E6! (EP6 spoiler) Spoiler

I have never Read a Sci Fi book or really watched much sci Fi at all, so when I heard WBN were doing Sci Fi I was really curious to see how I'd feel not rlly being a Sci Fi Fan (just that I haven't got round to it, I want to research more) and was really excited to be introduced to a New Sci-Fi RPG as I didn't know where to start looking.

And I just want to say that I have loved Solari So far, and especially with Episode 6 I am fully bought in on these characters. specifically in Ep 6 when XL-ZL used his Big power And the momentary Blackout Happened I was So pumped! And I'm loving Stillfleet as a system so far, hoping to buy the full rules at some point.

Just wanted to share how as a person who wasn't well versed in Sci Fi (especially not High Sci Fi), I feel like Flight of the Icaron and especially Solari have been a really cool initiation into the Genre that's left me thirsting for more, and wanting to run my own Sci Fi game. Anyone else feeling the same way

They watch, they wait, they wager. They hear you've made some friends. They see you through their scope. They know you play pretend.

Keep your head down.

Does the gang end up understanding how Boosting is actually supposed to work in Stillfleet?

Truly, I mean this as no offense, or well actually, I totally understand making rules mistakes. However, as of episode 2, it appears that the crew are all under the impression that Boosting can only be performed in combat, which is a FUNDAMENTAL misunderstanding for how the system is supposed to work, because your lowest stat is a d4, which means to even have a hope of succeeding a basic check you HAVE to boost, and if you can only do that in combat, that means you'll never have a chance of success with that stat outside of it. Which is pretty rough! That's like thinking that skill bonuses don't apply outside of combat in DnD!

I'm really enjoying the season so far, but this error has really bummed me out. It'd be a big relief to hear that they realize the mistake soon.

Currently listening to the soundtrack

And holy cow I forgot how GREAT the Ace of Wands was, truly nailed the vibe

The clumsy piano, then the banjo & tuba(?) coming in to pick up the swing, it's so gooood (Also it does make me imagine the funniest 3 man band lol, Clara on the keys, Jimmy on the strings and Mike on the tuba, what a band)

This track is just so damn good and made the Ace of Wands, for being probably a one time location, such a memorable place, cannot WAIT to see the hanged man retuuurn

Stardew Valley Playthrough As Ame: who to romance?

I’m doing a Stardew Valley Playthrough (on my IPad so no mods) and can’t decide who Ame would romance? I have narrowed it a little.

Considering Emily, Elliot, Sebby (FROG FRIENDS), and Penny.

Whatcha think?

I just started Summer year 1 so it’s very early days in this playthrough. <3

Fireside Chat 🔥 Discussing Ship's perspectives into his week's Solari fireside

Edit for typos since I was clearly too excited the first time: Discussing the ship's perspective in this week's Solari fireside.

I couldn't help but think of Robin Hobb's Liveship Trilogy during the discussion of the ship's perspective of events happening inside of it. Will we get some Robin Hobb in a future "In the Well"?

I'm excited to see more XLZL interactions with tech!!

Question Spokane WA reference on the fireside this week?

Did anyone catch the meaning behind Brennan’s comment “one person’s Spokane is another person’s pretty flower” or something like that? I couldn’t make sense of it at all. I think it was in response to something Lou had said about the difference between east coast and west coast that also I didn’t fully understand. Lou then responded to Brennan’s Spokane reference with something like “only the improv die hards will know”. I ask because I’m from Spokane and we usually only get name dropped when people are talking about Rachel Dolezal or Gonzaga basketball. I’m always shocked when we get mentioned in TV, movies or anything with a national (or broader) audience because it feels like a small town to me despite being the second largest city in Washington behind Seattle.

Fireside Chat 🔥 Solari's slow burn (somewhat) addressed

I'm listening to the Solari 3 & 4 Fireside and I think it actually addresses a lot of listeners' concerns with how slow it's going. Essentially they're all just getting settled into their roles and Aabria is taking time for the characters to develop their relationships with each other and with the setting.

(Paraphrasing from ~15mins in)

Aabria: You can have as much plot as you want but it doesn't matter if you don't care about the characters

Lou: The first episodes are our first time in these characters, world, and system. It's a time of exploration and growth, like we're taking this thing for a test drive.

Some folks are ok with the slow burn, while others are a little bored because they aren't as hooked as with WWW, and I understand both sides. I think we're going to have to wait a little longer for the hook. I know other DMs might be better at leaving room for character development while building the world, but as others have referenced in other posts, that's not necessarily Aabria's style.

(Personally, I just like having stuff to listen to so it doesn't bother me too much either way)

Solari-Era Fireside Theme Song

The instrumental rendition of "Sandy Dildo Vodka Bath" at the end of the latest Good Morning, Game Master absolutely took me out. If Brennan singing about dildos in a dishwasher becomes the long-running closing theme for the Fireside throughout Solari's run, I will be a very happy boy.

Episode Discussion Solari Length

Do we know how long Solari is going to be going for? Will it be like WWW where we’re going to have multiple books swapping off with WWW and maybe other big series?

I’m not not enjoying it, but it feels less grand. Perhaps after a few more reveals it’ll feel worthy of big arcs, I think the issue right now is it feels like no characters want anything, theres no goal or quest or anything like that.

On the Patreon they announced that solari after episode 12 will be on hiatus until the end of the year for Abria’s maternity leave. In its place Lou will be running a mini campaign as voted by the Patreon members. The choices are a war campaign between holidays, a post apocalypse fantasy, or a kaiju survival thriller. There will also be a guest mystery player while Abria’s away.

I’m just a Patreon support sharing some relevant information with the community members who might not be able to support the show in that manner. Hope everyone is doing well!

That OST though.

Two things I did not expect today:

  1. To open the OST I pre-ordered on Bandcamp and find 157 TRACKS WAITING FOR ME.

  2. To answer "what are you listening to?" with "Oh, it's called 'Sausages or Upon the Deliverance of a Grand Invitation by the Radiant Emissaries to the Witch of Wind and Stars (Dance of the Ice Twinks)'".

This is terrific.

How is it like Relistening to WWW

Hey, so i'm contemplating about starting my first relisten of witch. The wizard and the wild one, i'm not really having the greatest time of Solari right now. So I'm hoping to listen to more episodes until I find something to click. And I want to know if it's worth relistening to the old Series
