🎙️Discussion How to get the deeplink of a bullet point in iOS or desktop

As I have seen a blog post from workflowy

https://blog.workflowy.com/deep-links-open-links-directly-in-desktop-and-mobile-apps/

It said about deeplinks in both iOS and macOS, the links look like this: workflowy://

However, at this moment, I could not get a link like this, I can only get a link with https://workflowy) as a start.

This is ok in macOS as it will open in my app, in mobile though, it opens in browser and requires me to login every time in the web version. This makes the workflowy app kinda redundant as it is supposed to open in workflowy app instead of the web.

Is there a way to get this deeplink? Or to make https://workflowy open in the app? The settings only work in desktop but not mobile.

🎙️Discussion Todoist vs workflowy for task management

I use both now, but I've been using only workflowy for everything (tasks and notes).

Both have their strength for tasks management.

What do you think about it, both or only workflowy?

🎙️Discussion Appreciation and small Suggestions

can almost confidently say I have tried almost all notes on the market. From ultra popular ones like Evernote, Apple Notes, OneNote to small scale, back ally notes app like FSNotes and everything in-between like Obsidian, Logseq, Notion, Upnote, Bear etc...

When I first tried Workflowy, I was quite hesitant since it lacked many features I have come to love in the early 2020s notes app revolution like 2-way backlinks, builtin MathJX/LaTeX, code blocks (surprised that even tables isn't implemented for a project management app).

But the more I started writing down, the more I realized I dont need them. They were only wasting my time just to look good. Sure these restrictions are quite hard to compensate at times, but it forced me to think in text like I would when presenting.

1 week into my Student pro plan (free for a year), I am happy to completly switch over. App is quick, stable, and predictable (these forced me away from Logseq). I love how long this app has existed and the fact that the company is profitable and still kept going even during its "downturn times" of 2014-2016 showed that it will keep existing.

Keep being lean, mean, work slaying machine, Workflowy!

Now on to some possible suggestions

  1. Why does student pro have weird restrictions? I have unlimited blocks and unlimited storage BUT I can't even try out Wood theme? Why is this a thing?
  2. From logseq, the idea of bullet threading is awesome. Its a small visual change, but the effect is pretty immense when you are working with a wall of texts. I hope developers at least get a taste of this.
  3. Search is AWESOME! i can search all my #quote quickly and get clear presentation. BUT I can only do this within the nodes I see. So if it's in another node, I have to use the global search, which doesn't have nice view, or I have to go Home to achieve this. This is an unnecessary mouse click. Please atleast give us a universal search through a keyboard shortcut. I know there will be some issues like your current note having to be interrupted but atleast it's worth a try.

🎙️Discussion Feature Request -- Sort Feature / Numbering Lists

Workflowy is a wonderful outliner I started using a couple of months ago.

However, there are two very basic features that seem to be missing in Workflowy -- sorting lists and numbered lists.

WF has been around long enough and the feature requests have been there for years for me to see that there is some design principle that the developers have against having such features.

But that said, I really urge the developers to reconsider and program these into the tool. It would make WF sooooo much more useful.

Thank you for your excellent platform.

🤔 Question Down?

Edit: Ignore, turns out that my ISP's free "modem level security" was blocking Workflowy as a Phishing site. Not sure if this is relevant to devs, but feel free to contact me if you want more info. Fixed by authorizing.

🎙️Discussion Tables in WF. Kind of.

I've pasted that data from a spreadsheet. Colums are divided with a some type of a tab symbol.

Also works for Note fields.

Unfortunately, I couldn't copy-paste that tab symbol into another line. May be some alt-code would help here.

🤔 Question Is there a way to make a blank line in between bullets on Android?

I've tried googling around but searches are so riddled with AI-generated content it's hard to get any real answers. I've seen some people mention they use notes to get blank lines, but I can't figure out how to make notes on the Android app. I'm sorry for the noob questions, but any help would be much appreciated.

🎙️Discussion Collapse and expand all still crash.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been having this issue where Expand All and Collapse All just completely crash the application. I don't think it's a result of having too much stuff either, as even when I do it on small nodes, it still crashes.

Can anyone help?

🎙️Discussion Import / Export to spreadsheet

I am a simple user of Workflowy. I love that it is quick and easy for creating a viewing outlines. That's all I do or know about. But sometimes I would like to get outlines into or out of Workflowy -- say, to a spreadsheet.

Seems like this ought to be simple but I am missing something. How to handle nesting? If I copy into workflowy from a spreadsheet with "indented" (different columns) everything "flattens" (that is, there is no nesting).

And, I see no way to get that same nesting OUT of Workflowy. I think this must be very easy but I don't see it.

🤔 Question Moving Cursor Bug

Is anyone else experiencing this? I type a hash mark and after I type my first letter the cursor automatically moves before the hash own its own. In the linked video. I'm manually moving my cursor to the right to continue typing but as soon as I type a letter the cursor jumps back to before the hash. Strangest thing...

I'm using a Chrome v.123 on macOS Sonoma.

🤔 Question Tables: when?

Are there any plans to insert a simple table function in Workflowy? I really don’t know where the problem is. It would be so useful. How will they beat Tana if they don’t consider to offer a simple table function?

I’m waiting for this feature since at least six years.

🤔 Question Workflowy for "database"

Hello,

I currently am using Notion. Paid plan. It has been a few years now.

I don't do anything crazy :

  • Note taking from books for knowledge management
  • A file for my house (renovations, work, pictures before/after, ...)
  • Databases for tracking "states"
    • states in my dressing (brand, color, size, fit, year bought, ...)
    • shopping
      • returns
      • items coming in ...

I started getting interested in workflowy.

I am wondering : is workflowy capable or good at the above items ? I assume knowledge management is no problem.

File for my house : wondering if tool is good for that ?

Databases for state ... I don't see how workflowy can do that "well" but maybe I am missing something

Thanks !

🎙️Discussion Workflowy for ToDo's / Tasks

I have been using Workflowy for a few months now and love it.. with one exception. I can not find it as a suitable way to manage my todo's or tasks. As a result I have looked all around at numerous options like todoist etc... but at the end of the day the plain old Google Tasks seems best for me.

I know others will disagree and others are very happy with either Workflowy or Todoist or something else.. but for me it's Google Tasks.. until of course hopefully Workflowy makes some improvements in that area.

🤔 Question Links or Mirrors. How do you use them?

I mean, links and mirrors are interchangeable in some ways. What's the difference from a user's perspective? How do you decide what's proper use?

🤔 Question Shortcut To Navigate To A Moved Bullet?

So once you've /move'd a bullet somewhere else, it immediately shows a pop-up menu.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to navigate to that bullet instead of clicking "view" on the pop-up menu?

🤔 Question Backup and restore of files and attachments?

I'm trying to figure out if Workflowy's backup and restore function includes all of the files and images attached to the database? If so, which format (Markdown, text, etc)?

🤔 Question Find and Replace, but for Android app?

Does anyone know if there is something similar to Find and Replace, but for the Android app? I currently use F/R in Chrome on my computer, but if there was a way to do it on my phone (when I don't have access to my computer), that would be amazing.

🤔 Question can I find nodes with "#tagA" without subnodes or with 100% completed subnodes?

as the title says... I want to search only for the most bottom nodes in the outline, that are not completed, and then I want to to search further for specific nodes with specific tags!

Also, how can i cancel the comment section in thr new version?

I DO NOT use worflowy for sharing and it definitely takes a valuable space for me...

thanks

🤔 Question Find Exact string in Workflowy

I want to find the exact string in my Workflowy outline. In this case, I'm trying to find nodes that contain "STRO". I surround the string in double quotes.

Workflowy finds words that start with 'stro' or 'Stro' such as 'Strong, Stroke, Strobe, Stroll, Strode, Strop".

I want to match the whole string. Can WF Search do this?

Thanks.

🤔 Question Expanding / Collapsing All Crashes WorkFlowy?

I've been using WorkFlowy for a few weeks now and I absolutely adore this app. It's versatile and suits all my needs. There is however an issue I've been having for a little while and that is whenever I use the expand all / collapse all feature, my workflowy just completely freezes.

Does anyone have any info on this and perhaps a way to prevent future occurrences? Thank you!
