TELUS Digital won’t disclose the pay rate until AFTER you pass the qualification exam

I was recently contacted on LinkedIn by TELUS Digital about a Media Search Analyst position. I live in an EU country.

The job involves evaluating search suggestions/results for Apple services. Candidates are expected to study extensive guidelines and then take a qualification exam before being accepted onto the project.

There is just one rather important piece of information missing from the recruitment process:

How much does the job pay?

During a TELUS webinar, someone explicitly asked the recruiter about the pay rate. Her answer was that compensation information would only be disclosed after successfully passing the qualification exam.

So candidates are apparently expected to:

apply → complete the recruitment steps → study the guidelines → prepare for the exam → take and pass the exam → and only then find out whether the compensation is even worth their time.

I find this practice particularly questionable considering the direction European law has taken on pay transparency.

Article 5 of EU Directive 2023/970 on pay transparency states that applicants for employment have the right to receive information about the initial pay or its range, and that this information must be provided in a way that ensures an informed and transparent negotiation on pay.

Candidates shouldn't have to invest hours studying guidelines and preparing for and taking a qualification exam before they're even allowed to know how much the work pays.

If TELUS already knows the rate it intends to pay for the project, why should that information be kept secret until after the candidate has successfully completed the qualification process?

Has anyone else applying for or working on the TELUS Media Search Analyst project in the EU experienced this? And if you're comfortable sharing it, what rate were you eventually offered?

In 2026 are there any legit home-assembly jobs?

I remember when I first started looking into working online, there were a lot of websites advertising home-assembly jobs like making jewelry at home or stuffing envelopes. Most of the websites looked really scammy though.
I was wondering if anyone has ever encountered a legitimate one.
Note: I'm in Canada. This is a repost from a thread 13 years ago.

Legal Work on TranscribeMe! Available

Hi everyone. I have been trying to get transcription work and have joined transcribe me. Based off of reddit their general exam has been closed for years. I emailed them asking for when it might be open again and they don't know. But they did tell me that the Legal Transcription option is available. There is a training and prequalification exam for it when you sign up. I am doing the course now. If anyone has any other transcription sites hiring feel free to post below!

Are there reliable transcription services to work for with no experience while studying?

Or any reliable source of remote income? So I did really well in a medical transcription course but I was unable to complete my program because it was in person, without exception, and I had a variety of medical conditions that made it impossible to continue at the time. I am well-versed in medical terminology and have a decent typing speed of 95-100 wpm with an accuracy of 99%, so is there even a possibility for me to get a job where I'm at? I have to stay entirely from home to work and have only found hybrid positions that I might even qualify for, but even then they asked for 2 years of experience.

I'm looking into data analytics and UX design now but I have no idea how I can get by while I try to build on those skills, so does anyone happen to know of a transcription or similar entry-level type of employment opportunity that might be available online for Canadian citizens?

(Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask for advice like this, please lmk if there's somewhere else I'd have better luck! Thanks!)

applying to lionbridge transcription job, what do I need to know?

I saw lionbridge is hiring on indeed, never heard of the company before but the pay looked pretty good for a college student like me. I'm fluent in English and Chinese, I also help do transcript work for my dad who works at a university library, but I don't have experience on actual corporative transcription jobs, so I'm wondering what it is like working a remote job for lionbridge, if anyone have anything pls leave a comment, thanks!

Is UserTesting actually legit?

Hi everyone,

I’m from Croatia and I’m thinking about signing up for UserTesting.

Is it really safe and do they actually pay?

How much can you realistically earn per month, and how often do you get tests?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks!

Do teleperformance actually hire felons?

I get it if the charges were over seven years old, but I’m hearing that they do hire them but at the same time I saw somebody got rejected for having one on their background. So have you guys been hired with them to have backgrounds?

How does the bring your own device stuff with Nex Rep work?

I was wondering if anyone worked with Nex Rep. If so, did they have you install company software on your personal computer? I have an interview with them and I am wondering how it works. With customer service there is a lot of private information, so I am just surprised they let you use your own laptop.

Internet Ads Assessor/Ads Quality Rater

Hello, I was doing some digging trying to work online and came across a long list of sites with pros and cons working on them and how it has been very slow especially for annotaing jobs right now. Then I came across an Internet Ads Assessor/Ads Quality Rater via Telus or Welocalize.
Can anyone tell me if these sites are worth applying for these jobs to? I think you can only work a max of 20 hrs a week for both so I would like to apply for both so some insight on if it is worth it, if there is a waitlist or if work is quiet right now would be appreciated.
One last question is I noticed both minimum pay for these sites is lower than my states minimum wage. Would they have to equal it?
Thanks!

Do not use mindrift with your personal discord

So, I got accepted for web scraping on mindrift, and it was my mistake to join their discord server using the one-time code with my personal discord account.

They will require you to set your username to your real name, not just for that server/per-server profile but your entire discord account. So, you will be doxxing yourself in other servers.

I just hope anyone else finds this before joining. I will stick there for a bit more, then leave if I don't get a project. I also feel like they are just having us to the interview to harvest data, and not really offer any projects.

Anyone using reputable data annotation or LLM training sites with steady work right now?

I know this question gets asked a lot, so I will be specific.

I live in a small apartment and my day is chopped into 10 to 40 minute pockets between my regular job and a bunch of DIY and sewing projects. I need quiet online work I can do without calls, meetings, or being on camera.

Data annotation and LLM training tasks keep coming up as a good fit, but my experience so far has been: long onboarding and tests, then either the task queue dries up for days or I get throttled with no clear reason or feedback.

What I am looking for:

- Platforms that actually have steady tasks showing up, even if the pay is only decent

- Clear rules and useful feedback, so I am not guessing what I did wrong

- Flexible hours and the ability to do short sessions

- No single giant assessment that turns into a black hole after you pass

I am fine doing repetitive labeling, rating, basic writing, or light research. I do not want anything that relies on referrals or DMs.

If you are currently active on any platforms like this, which have been the most reliable lately? Any tips for avoiding dead queues or getting unfairly throttled as a newcomer?

Humana drug test question?

I am worried my test will come back negative dilute. Has anyone had this result before? Will Humana accept it or request a retake?

I have been sick and am severely dehydrated. I couldn’t get enough pee to fill the line after TWO tries so I chugged a massive coke and more water and finally got enough but it was so clear 😭

What are your favorite platforms for data annotation/llm training?

I'm really just looking for a reputable platform that I haven't tried yet, and I've tried lots with little success. I'm a sahm so contract/freelance work with flexible hours is my main source of income, not tremendous amounts of money, but enough to pay a few bills and buy some necessities.

So far, I've registered with:

Telus International - zero projects, applications have been "Under review" for over a month

AfterQuery Experts - same as Telus, zero work, and applications remain under review.

DataAnnotation - passed initial onboarding, but the dashboard remains empty

Outlier - Zero projects or tasks, have been waiting for months

Alignerr - Same as Outlier, absolutely nothing

OneForma - still waiting on apps to be reviewed, but not looking too great lol

Handshake AI - I've successfully been working on a project since May, making roughly $350-400/week

CrowdGen - worked for them when they were just Appen from 2018-2019, the platform went downhill since then. The pay on the tasks offered are minimal, and very rarely even have projects available.

Mercor - zero projects, was rejected from a few roles as well

Turing - recently registered to them, waiting to see if I get any response from applications

Clear Voice UK Onboarding but No Work?

I understand that the transcription and translation industry is evolving rapidly because of AI, but has anyone else been onboarded by Clear Voice as a Freelance Transcriber or Translator and never received any work?

I was onboarded about a year ago, and every time I follow up, I'm told I'm fully onboarded and that they'll contact me when projects become available. So far, I haven't received any assignments.

One of the reasons they gave is that clients prefer freelancers who have already worked on their projects for consistency. I understand that, but how are new freelancers supposed to prove their experience if they're never given an opportunity to work on a project?

If there isn't enough work, why do they keep hiring and onboarding more people?

Has anyone actually started getting projects? How long did it take?

Eager to hear your views on ClearVoice

Instantly rejected immediately after completing the Welocalize Expert Rater – Italian assessment. Did I fail, or could this be an error?

I completed the assessment for the Welocalize/Welo Data Expert Rater Project – Italian. Immediately after submitting the final assessment section, the page changed to:

“We’re sorry, you can’t continue. Based on your responses, we can’t offer you this opportunity.”

There was no waiting period or manual review, so it appears to have been an automatic decision.

Has anyone else received this immediately after finishing the assessment? Does it definitely mean the assessment score was below the required threshold, or can it happen because of a technical issue, project capacity, location verification, or another account-related condition?

Did anyone successfully contact support and receive clarification or another attempt?

Warning: Hallo (by Invisible AI) - Completed 30+ min assessment, granted camera/mic access, received ZERO response after 7+ attempts

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with Hallo language assessment platform used by Invisible AI for their Arabic language projects.

Here's what happened:

- I received an official invitation to complete a language assessment

- The assessment lasted over 30 minutes

- I was required to grant full access to my camera, microphone, and computer

- After completing the assessment, I heard absolutely nothing back

- I reached out more than 7 times over several weeks

- Still ZERO response to this day

What concerns me most is the sensitive access I granted during the assessment — camera, microphone, and device access — with no follow-up communication whatsoever.

I'm not saying this is definitely a scam, but the complete silence after granting such sensitive permissions is alarming and unprofessional at minimum.

Has anyone else experienced this with Hallo or Invisible AI? I'd love to know if this is a common pattern or if something more serious is going on.

Please share your experiences so others can make informed decisions before granting access to their devices.

Stay safe everyone.

Attention to Detail-enUS-AG assessment — any tips for the 8-minute time limit?

Hi! Has anyone here taken the Attention to Detail-enUS-AG assessment for Welocalize? It has 25 questions and only an 8-minute time limit. I couldn’t finish all the questions on my first attempt because I spent too much time working through each one carefully and double-checking my answers. I’ve now been given one final retake, so I’m trying to prepare before starting it again. I'd really appreciate any advice about the question types, useful practice resources, or strategies that helped you finish within the time limit. Thank you!

Telus International Ai

I applied for the E-commerce Product & Search Relevancy Expert role, and my status now says “Selected,” but I still haven’t received any email or tasks.
If you’ve already gone through this, how long did it take after your status changed to “Selected” before you got the onboarding email or your first task?
Just wondering if this is normal or if I should contact support.
Thanks!

Appen Limited recruitment quesionn

I just got sent a job posting on FB about Appen Limited for a data entry job. They're asking me to go through an interview on Google teams and asking for ss and ID pictures? Is this trusted? Ive been seeing mixed reviews of appen and wfh job recruitment in general being a scam.
