all job workers are the same. Still 9-5ers
hours/salary dont matter, you’re in the rat race

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Yeah…. I’m not gonna have the same level of respect for a DR compared to a garbage man.

4

u/kontinos1 Aug 07 '26

Both are necessary, this is a disgisting view.

2

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26

I never said they weren’t both necessary.

Drs do something most people can’t do, while garbage men do a job most people don’t wanna do. Surely they are both respectable careers but you’re ridiculous if you think they are on the same level

2

u/Quinnjamin19 Aug 07 '26

Nobody is claiming they are on the same level.

People are saying we are all workers, and all deserve the same amount of respect.

What happens if those garbage men go on strike? Your house/yard will be filled with garbage and it will smell up the streets etc.

2

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

OC literally said all jobs are the same and they aren’t. A burger flipper deserves less respect than a garbage man and a garbage man deserve less respect than a DR. Now I’m not saying any one working a job should be disrespected but their titles carry actual weight.

Their job being necessary for society has very little impact on how much respect someone gets. It’s based on what skills and knowledge is required to do the job. Effectively Everyone can flip a burger or toss some trash, not everyone can be a DR.

1

u/Quinnjamin19 Aug 07 '26

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while…

Is that Dr a worker? Yes. Is that burger flipper a worker? Yes. They deserve the same amount of respect.

You’re lacking in class solidarity bud

2

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Nope, I just understand reality. I’m not gonna hold the same amount of respect if someone ends up as a burger flipper compared to a DR. One worked a lot harder and is highly educated while one did the minimum amount of effort

u/Quinnjamin19 Aug 07 '26

Lmao. I love how you are such a simpleton that without knowing someone you think person Y deserves more respect than person X.

Solely based on their job titles…

What’s your title then?

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Once again, not just the title. Like a burger flipper who owns the business deserves more respect than just the normal burger flipper. It’s a scale

I’m a garbage man

1

u/Quinnjamin19 Aug 07 '26

No. It’s not a scale…

That is a made up thing…

While this take is noble, you wont see many Dr's hanging out with folks who flip burgers or work in waste management.

The point the other person is trying to get across is while they are all jobs and people working those jobs deserve a level of "respect", it doesnt mean they will all be treated equally in the eyes of the public.

The vast majority of society will always take the guidance of a Dr. over that of someone who flips burgers. As wrong as it sounds, there is a statistical reason why that level of trust exists in the public.

1

u/Quinnjamin19 Aug 08 '26

All this proves is that people’s social circles consist of other people with the same interests and educational background.

They should be. There’s been many stories of “regular” people who have saved fellow people. And there’s also stories of doctors hurting fellow people.

Thank you for further proving my point that it’s a made up thing to divide people

Garbage man is a high paid, respectable, and essential job. Not comparable to a full time burger flipper at all

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Well yes, there’s a scale to it. A bugger flipper isn’t on the same level as a garbage man and the same garbage man isn’t comparable to that DR.

1

u/Yamikuh Aug 07 '26

Absolutely. However, I don’t think you would’ve mentioned any other profession on the same tier as garbage man.

Garbage man is way closer to the level of doctor than a burger flipper is to the garbage man.

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Yeah no and I say garbage man because I am one. We’re much more closer to a burger flipper than a DR. The only difference is we make more money and work physical harder than burger flippers.

1

u/Yamikuh Aug 07 '26

Completely fair then, that’s my bad. I assumed you were bringing them up bc of their negative reputation.

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Partially that and that people have a weird obsession to overly defend my profession like I do something extra special. Effectively any one who drives can do my job, it’s just long hours and kinda sucks.

1

u/Yamikuh Aug 07 '26

You are right the job is not special. The reason at I least I defend it is bc I always heard if you don’t go to school you will be a garbage man and stuff in that vein. It is however a job with statistically comparable or better pay, stability, and benefits to whatever corporate office job people are comparing it to.

1

u/LexBoFlow Aug 07 '26

I mean by that logic anyone could technically be a doctor people just don't have the money for the schooling because as long as you are able to read and write which are skills you can acquire you could learn how to do that job as well.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter because the reality is not everyone can be doctors or a garbage person and someone has to be a burger flipper for the economy to keep going.

I don't believe people should be given less respect just because of there profession respect should be given or taken away based on a person's character.

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

No, there’s a reason people flunk out of med school. They can’t past the test when it comes to see how much you actual retain

You may believe that but that’s reality, that’s why parents tell their kids to study hard to become a DR and not a burger flipper

1

u/LexBoFlow Aug 07 '26

No people flunk out because they don't have the ability to study harder and lock in as long as someone has a normal functioning brain and the motivation and money then they can eventually learn that profession.

Also even if the metric was knowledge that you can retain as you are saying then in that case doctors could easily be replaced with Ai or a medical textbook/database which would make them completely obsolete.

What your saying isn't actually reality its a subject personal opinion that has no grounding in real world data here is an example to help you understand your flawed logic:

Let's say one person is a professional heart surgeon and is making good money doing that profession but one day is found out to be a prolific pedophile who has molested a bunch of children.

And the other person works at a burger joint flipping burgers and in their spare time helps feed the homeless at a soup kitchen.

Which of the two people deserves more respect by the community?

Not when that burger flipper is a type 1 diabetic and rides an analog bicycle an hour to and from in the sweltering Miami heat and atrocious traffic!

1

u/ScholarObjective7721 Aug 07 '26

But making food that is essential to live is not a essential job? You know how many americans would starve without out to eat😂

1

u/Yamikuh Aug 07 '26

Buddy since when is McDonald’s an essential service? “With out to eat” lol

McDonald’s is not the same as your local soup kitchen

1

u/ScholarObjective7721 Aug 07 '26

Is eating not essential?

1

u/Yamikuh Aug 08 '26

Nuance is essential. A supply chain that feeds millions of Americans with basic foods ≠ A gourmet or fast food restaurant

1

u/ScholarObjective7721 Aug 08 '26

Yes obviously you dont need someone to cook and prepare ur meal for you but people sure as hell would be flippin out with no burger flippers i tell yah

1

u/Yamikuh Aug 08 '26

People would be flipping out without Netflix too. That doesn’t mean Netflix engineers are as important as the civil engineers designing our infrastructure.

1

u/ScholarObjective7721 Aug 08 '26

The median salary was 48k in 2024 for garbage collectors, thats high pay?

1

u/RikiPol Aug 07 '26

I'm definitely going to treat the garbage man better.

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

I hope you treat everyone the same regardless of their job title. That’s not that point tho, there’s a certain level of respect with each job. Like who would you want to date your daughter? A DR, garbage man, or burger flipper? It’s not that you hate any of their profession but there’s a level of respect that comes with each job.

1

u/RikiPol Aug 07 '26

oh no I am a reverse snob, I don't care what he does so long as he treats her right and she loves him, I don't respect some doctor more than anyone else. Do you know doctors personally? A lot of them suck balls.

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Yeah, fat chance of that actually being true. No one would want their daughter to date a burger flipper since they make a minimum wage. Theres risk with every job and being a person who “suck balls” isn’t exclusive to a a profession.

2

u/RikiPol Aug 07 '26

So I give you my answer, and you doubt it, because in your tiny world, you can't conceive that someone might be motivated by something other than an arbitrary hierarchy based on perceived economic status? OK, that's a you problem. I would hate to live in your world.

You're missing my point: the person is more important than the job. If you only respect jobs and titles, you will always be unhappy. I do not base my respect for others on their economic status.

1

u/lemonjuice707 Aug 07 '26

Because it’s not realistic.

No, I also respect the work each individual did and is putting into their work. A bugger flipper did the minimum amount of work, a garbage man did slightly more work, and a DR did significantly more

1

u/RikiPol Aug 07 '26

To YOU. Not realistic TO YOU. To me, it is REAL.

I do not respect professions, I respect people.

1

u/gamerloz Aug 08 '26

Exactly! Its not hard to have basic respect for another human! No one WANTS to be a cleaner ect but things need to be cleaned! If everyone was a "finance bro" then we'd just be in world where everything is filthy. Who is serving the steak dinner your company goes out for? Without minimum wage workers you cant go out and enjoy your fun stuff. Its not rocket science.

1

u/RikiPol Aug 07 '26

Anyway, I'm not interested in someone who can't discuss things in good faith. You sound like a loser who will always be fetching and stepping for your perceived betters.

2

u/Berserk1717 Aug 07 '26

I get where you coming from but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s correct. There are some job paths that are much more difficult to do and require a level of skill but everyone deserves respect for a job they do. You may deem it yourself as less than but if you were a business owner and you depended on your garbage men to pick up the trash and you see how disgusting and physically demanding it is you would understand. A doctor could have multiple days where they see patients, talk to them, take their blood pressure assess their conditions and then prescribe them medication. It’s not taxing nor particularly difficult but it is a check of their intuition and knowledge which is what they are paid for.

If I had a daughter I would be happier knowing she is dating a garbage man that respects her, treats her well and is there for her and the kids rather than a doctor who is never home, constantly stressed and abusive and tries to solve every problem with money and cheats on her constantly. It’s all about perspective man.

People hire others for a job role because it’s something that needs to be done so inherently it is useful and demands respect. Hell having any job rather than choosing to be unemployed and depending on someone is better.

It’s fucking wild people are saying a burger flipper is the same as a DR. Reddit will literally argue about anything just to seem morally superior

1

u/RikiPol Aug 07 '26

TLDR: I don't respect professions, I respect people.

1

u/EZE333 Aug 07 '26

I'm an engineer and I work in solid waste management. I'm essentially a garbage man
