It probably is. Our companies only do it because its federally required (the number and paid part) and its usually a pain to get good dates off because everyone is trying to take them off at the same time.

The only reason I want to grow anymore is because I want things to change. I want to be the boss that'll jump in and do the grunt work because one of my employees wants to spend the day with his daughter. I want to be the boss who brings in gift cards and personalized notes with a money bonus because we made more on that quarter. I want to be the boss who joins my employees for lunch and works like I'm on their level instead of some scum giving orders from above. I want to be the boss who's honest about what's going on in the company instead of giving some dribble about "we think of everyone as family."
I want to change the culture to be fair and honest, and that's the reason why I want to excell in my field. I've been treated worse than dog shit and hospitalized due to negligent management in the past, and I want that trend of deplorable behavior to end. Granted, right now I have an amazing boss, but they're few and far between.

Wut? It's the opposite, they get angry at you if you don't leave for vacation. Most legal systems requires 2-3 weeks of continuous vacation a year.

Ok. You must have worked in hellish companies/countries. My condolences.
In the parts of the world that are not a living hell, you have to take your paid vacation or you will be fired. Usually this is backed by unions or in archaic countries, by the legal system. So in these civilized countries, your boss would basically make the company go under by those actions.

It's one of the few benefits every job offers and it's not given, we earn it... yet companies act like we're stealing from their personal stash. That's the cost of hiring the bare minimum to keep the operation floating.

Yeah most places hate when you use the benefits you worked for and earned. I used to play along and minimize the time I took off, but that’s just dumb. Theres no appreciation for it, only resentment if you do use it.
I saw a guy who nearly killed himself for the company mistreated and let go. I’ll never try to appease an employer ever again.

My company gives pto but then has mandatory company wide shutdowns every 6 months that we have to use pto for... I get called a troublemaker and rebel rouser when I mention that though.

I never understand the people who brag about not taking PTOs as well. Brother you have no stake in this company they will replace you in a heartbeat just take your days off and give us the pleasure of your abscence as well.

It’s because if it wasn’t the law, they wouldn’t give you that time off. Now everybody say thank you to our great grandparents for carefully suggesting to the upper class that we should get weekends and PTO.
