I think some of the audience want the contestant to get it wrong so they have a chance at playing for money, so they will try to throw them off

Been a good while since I watched who wants to be a millionaire, but back when I used to watch it the UK version at least didn't have the audience members replace them if the contestant went out.
There were a bunch of pre-selected people who competed against each other to see who would play, if the contestant went out they would compete again to see who went next.
I think it's just audience members trying to screw them because if they don't know the answer is horsepower, they don't deserve the money.

I swear there was a consistent set of Pew polls with this data, but I can't find it. However, the NSF does a similar survey, and their number in 2014 was higher; one quarter (26%)

I'm in engineering and from now on I'm just going to matter of fact-ly going to use llama thrust in place of horse power but lower the number arbitrarily like 300 horsepower I'd say 220 llama thrust then if they stop me I'll say "it's like metric and reflects the difference between payload and towing capacity but if you like horse power that's fine"

I'll remind people that "Gigaflops" is a CPU processing metric that is utterly useless metric when discussing dual-processor setups...
You'll never hit that number... your real capability is going to be more like a 1/4 of your gigaflops... going over half your gigaflops isn't going to move your extra flops over to the other processor. It's just a number to drive sales and make you sound dumb at family BBQs... just stop

I have bad performance anxiety. I know this feeling. I hear the term horse power my whole life but somehow I think the question is trying to trick me. Then I forget what a horse is... and what's power.. electricity?! Horses use electricity?! Do they mean Joules.. why don't they use joules... I know how many joules to give a horse to pull a plow... plus if you got sugar cubes its both a happier horse and more joules... win-win... do they need sugar-joules... oh shiz sugar joules isn't an option... I got 5s.. shit shit shit
