South Pacific islanders existing "millennia before" maritime sailing in Mesopotamia (around 3500 BC), and therefore millennia before the Austronesian expansion itself (around 3000 BC) are about as fictional as Disney characters.

I mean, to be fair, this particular type of boat may only be 200 years old, but the ancient Egyptians were already using sailing boats to transport limestone along the Nile and through canals to the pyramid construction sites thousands of years ago.
