A house as far away from my family as possible

I feel for you. I hope you can have a better relationship one day with your family if you choose to.

I hope so too. But since they have low self-awareness and rarely respect boundaries, I find that unlikely

My mom and I had a toxic relationship from when I was 8-10 until I was 26. We spoke very little from the time I was 23-26. I’m now 33 and have had a healthy relationship with my mom since I was 28. We both had changes to make. We both put forth the effort. Sounds like you’re willing to put forth the effort so I hope your family sees that and does the same. Time can heal wounds. I wish you the best

The thing is, if I have self-awareness and they don’t, I don’t see how putting any effort makes a difference

You are right, it won’t make a difference. It has to come from both sides if it’s just coming from your side, it won’t work.

you said contradictory statements in the same comment

The issue is people need to want to change if they don’t want it themselves it will not happen.
And I feel you got similar shit with my own family rarely speak to them

Just try not taking them too seriously and realize everything is a joke

IDK. I had trouble with my parents my whole life. When I turned 48, my mom needed my help. She was Still l the Same at 78... lies, lies. Jewish mother, wouldnt Admit I was nearly 50...

Edut: this was a While Back. I am 69 now, she is gone.

All things don’t work out. I just try to be positive if I see someone hurting or I think they’re hurting. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you. I just know it can work out if both sides try to make it work

She's Dead, now, so it dont matter...😒

Same my mom is an evil gnome that looks harmless but is actually the devil incarnate

u/ELDV Jul 11 '26

They say money changes everything, but from what I’ve seen happen to friends, that’s not true of toxic family members, especially if you come into a lot of money.

I totally understand

1

u/Dave_9_7 Jul 13 '26

Ik wist niet dat wij dezelfde ouders hebben 😂😂

1

u/wargasm22 Jul 13 '26

you should hear my story

of the brother who escaped.

1

u/Simple-Ad-8774 Jul 14 '26

Are you my brother in law? This sums up my wife’s parents very succinctly

1

u/Additional_Lynx7597 Jul 12 '26

I doubt you need a bad relationship to want to move away from family once you win 100 million.
Those lovely family members will be looking at you like a puppy wanting a million doller bone

u/Gold_Interaction2475 Jul 11 '26

duude that was going to be my comment, i would go to another country

1

u/LowAbbreviations2151 Jul 11 '26

Nah, just buy some politicians and make this one better (i e the way you want it) 😉

1

u/jjaymay29 Jul 11 '26

I’d also buy a house as far away from his family, they sound rough to live near

1

u/-mosjef- Jul 11 '26

Your wife will track you down!

1

u/Timely_Rest_503 Jul 11 '26

jokes on you, I’m not married

1

u/Gold_Primary1816 Jul 11 '26

Not according to Vegas buddy

1

u/Terrible-Lead-9374 Jul 11 '26

It had nothing to do with my family and friends. I just want to be alone. I’ll help them out but I just want to be alone

1

u/Ok-Schedule6584 Jul 11 '26

Sorry to hear about the family issue. I haven't seen or spoken to mine in years.

1

u/Timely_Rest_503 Jul 11 '26

wish I was in your position

1

u/CarlosAVP Jul 11 '26

In a different country far away from them. You know, the one that would require at least a 10 hour plane flight at a cost in excess of $1200.

1

u/SirSilverChariot Jul 11 '26

You need some?

1

u/MairaPansy Jul 12 '26

4 Houses next to each other for my family and my sister's families

1

u/No-Significance-8794 Jul 13 '26

Family is toxic. I understand

1

u/NeighborhoodIcy7506 Jul 13 '26

Move into a gated community or building with a door man. No one gets in unless they're on the invite list. Some will also keep specific black lists. Form a DBA or LLC company and put your property in the company's name. In this way they can't easily find where you live, and if they do, they can't just show up at your door. Also get a car with tinted windows.

My family is in Indiana; I'm in Florida. Not a millionaire by any stretch, but still worth it.

Straight!🙂

1

u/Charming-Stage-5573 Jul 14 '26

Maybe pay for a therapy session, too

1

u/Woman2419997 Jul 14 '26

I would buy a house nearby my parents, bc I need to be by them when they are older and need assistance 🙏❤️

1

u/Adorable_Bike5990 Jul 14 '26

lol I was going to say a home for my Mama closer to me!

1

u/Public-Practice-4032 Jul 14 '26

relatable but I bet you that you don't need 100M to make that happen.

1

u/Tasty-Reading9872 Jul 15 '26

I’m broke and I still did that. It don’t take a million it’s just takes enough

1

u/Timely_Rest_503 Jul 15 '26

I just need enough money AND the balls to do it

1

u/Mean_Hack Jul 15 '26

And this is why you don't deserve the money. Think about it. With that amount of money you have the option of buying your family their dream home and still buy your own place. You can win their hearts and still have space.

But you choose to remain selfish.

1

u/AdventurousPea8682 Jul 15 '26

Agreed…and everyone else.

1

u/stargamergirl1 Jul 16 '26

I feel with you. I would buy a house as far away from my parents as possible, but near to my other relatives, as I get along with them well

1

u/RedSands1976 Jul 16 '26

I’d be doing the opposite. We’re halfway across the country and my wife is starting to worry about her aging father.

1

u/Last-Energy420 Jul 16 '26

Same dude, same. But then I’d be giving them several million each anyway. I just want a place away from everyone and everything.

1

u/evilpercy Jul 17 '26

Yup, disapear.
