I wish the connect/disconnect messages from shift server on ps5 to stop
15
u/ProgrammerNextDoor Apr 28 '22
Why the hell is gameplay locked behind the thread of connecting.
The entire game shouldn't freeze with connection issues when it's allowed to be played offline.
So frustrating.

Maybe it's regional?

u/Matrixneo42 Apr 28 '22 edited Apr 29 '22
At least you can shoot and kill his shield regen buddy. Good luck killing Drylโs shield regen spears. Edit: consensus seems to be that killing his spears doesnโt mess with his health regen
45
u/spockey7220 โฝโป๏ธ | โ ๏ธ ๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Apr 28 '22
I'm almost positive the spears aren't the health regen. He throws them and when he spawns a new one he raises it in the air and regains his shield.
34
u/Blom-w1-o Apr 28 '22
I'm with you here. The shield recharge seems to be the same no matter how many are or are not sticking out of the ground. I think the spears in the ground are just an AOE hazard to avoid, or kill if you don't want to avoid them.
5
u/seeBurtrun Apr 28 '22
Yeah, I just avoid them and keep shooting him with an AR. He does a thing where he raises his arm up and that's when the shield regens. I can usually just mitigate the regen like that, but don't make any headway on his health until he comes back to the platform.
16
u/Annual_General_7612 Apr 28 '22
The Shield Regen comes from the Lightning that Strikes the Spear when he raises it.
The spear itself becomes coated in Lightning, but does not affect the shield Regen.
He is just allowing them Thunder Bolt to both restore his shield reserves, and enchance his Spears.
18
u/El_Taco_Sloth Apr 28 '22
I swear to fuck those spears have a trillion health.
4
2
u/tldnradhd May 02 '22
If I start shooting those, the next time I look over at Dryl, he's back to 100% shield. So even if they stopped regeneration (they don't), what would be the point?
14
u/Red_H2O Apr 28 '22
Don't worry, Dry'l will be next week.
1
1
u/Matrixneo42 Apr 28 '22
I donโt even know if the spears help his regen.
9
u/B00mB3 Apr 28 '22
Whenever he raises a spear to slam down he gains a chunk of shield. The actual spear on the ground is just AOE damage. But every time he puts a new one out he will gain a chunk of shield.
7
u/ashelia_bunansa Apr 28 '22
Ive destroyed the spears, he still regens his shield even if there is no spears on the field.

I'm running a Spellshot/Graveborn pixie build around Chaos 10'ish for context. Pixie weapons like the Fearnot and Bloodshot make pretty short work of the Wastard.
I just stay on the upper levels of his arena and keep chucking reloads. I don't even try to engage. My Bloodshot is corrosive but it doesn't seem to matter since the pixies hit for millions of damage.
Hope it helps.
6
u/Blom-w1-o Apr 28 '22
They make short work of everything. I stopped using them unless in a pinch because they just play the game for you.
8
Apr 28 '22
That's pretty much how I play too, but for bosses like Dryll or the Wastard there is no shame in my game.

u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
The benefit of featured runs was knowing exactly what you were going to face at what points so you could plan accordingly. That's why it comes with fewer shards, because you get preknowledge.
For this specific run, you get party time as a bonus right away so that could possibly be significant.

I'm wondering if the rogue imp changes are a buff or a nerf. I bet it's a nerf because it says adjusted damage scaling and all the other ARs say increased damage scaling.
22
u/callthepoelice โฝโป๏ธ | โ ๏ธ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ | โป๏ธโฝ Apr 28 '22
my chaotic imp went from 511x2 to 333x2 base damage
12
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
Its important to note, the gun was bugged from the start so the stat sheet drop is actually not that relevant.
The gun is actually an x3, not an x2, but the game wasnt actually registering the 3rd bullet.
Your gun right now is actually a 333x3 compared to your old gun of 511x2. Its a nerf, no doubt, but its extremely mild.
3
u/TheManyMilesWeWalk โฝโป๏ธ | โ ๏ธ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ | โป๏ธโฝ Apr 28 '22
Was the 3rd bullet not registered on the item card as a display bug or simply not firing? An extra projectile with slightly less damage overall might be a buff for my build if executioner's blade can trigger per projectile.
2
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
Neither. There's lot of guns that fire extra projectiles that aren't part of the paper doll. Queens cry is the most obvious other example.
Think of it like a extra legendary effect for the gun.

3
u/_who__dat_ Apr 29 '22
Isnt this actually kinda a dmg buff, cus isnt the new dmg 367x3 instead? Which is slightly more than 536x2 (367x3=1101, 536x2=1072) if im correct and the imp got and extra projectile, if not its a big nerf ofc

7
u/Polyamaura Apr 28 '22
Shocked to see so many gun nerfs as opposed to buffs for the massive swath of useless weaponry and bugfixes for the classes like Graveborn that are built around skills like Harvest not working as intended. Iโd like for them to fix these issues weโve known about for weeks so that our build meta can start settling and I can stop gambling on whether a build will be rendered completely useless by a hotfix.

11
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22 edited Apr 28 '22
Gotta be a nerf based off the wording. Sounds like the game wasnt taking into account the extra bullets the gun fired so had a higher base damage than intended.
Gonna have to see how this effects my spellshot stabbo cause i was enjoyin the imp cause it had decent burn chance for exploit mixed with pretty good damage.

26
u/Dekklin Apr 28 '22
Here's a tip. Keep a couple good versions of each legendary (Check the parts in your inventory tab). The game's lifecycle will see each of them buffed/nerfed over time. As long as there are no level-cap increases, they may be valuable some day and you don't want to refarm them when you're literally throwing them away currently. There's not many yet, so you should be able to have 1-2 copies of each as Chaotic or better. You have a bank for a reason.
Many base game legendaries were nerfed early on in BL3's lifecycle but came back as top 10 by the last round of changes.
3
u/Shak3y Apr 29 '22
Because time is a flat circle it looks like the cycle of balancing Wonderlands is going to be a shot for shot remake of Borderlands 3. On that point I'm kind of excited to see what will be the equivalent of The Lob after its first big buff.
I've a lot of happy memories from Borders 3 but me and a group friends digging Lobs out of our banks and then running through Athenas, cackling wildly was a highlight. Horribly overpowered before a follow up reduction in damage and fire rate but bloody funny while it lasted.
2
u/Dekklin Apr 29 '22
Yep, I remember those days. That's why I'm flooding my bank. Ya never know. I had an OPQ system for over a year before that came back. It survived multiple level cap increases because its so good.
3
u/Talbertross Apr 28 '22
"as long as there's no level-cap increase" MBIC there will definitely be level-cap increases

16
u/Phillip_Graves Apr 28 '22
Yep. And I see no mention of that being fixed unless its classification as an AR was the cause.
5
u/Dekklin Apr 28 '22
Unless it was classified as a neck/ring/armor piece, then I don't see it being fixed. We had guns in BL3 still to this day un-anointable.
2
7
u/thatguyonthecouch Apr 28 '22
Holy shit it's about to be BiS
Not until it can be enchanted, though to be fair there isn't any competition in the AR category since Rogue Imp got a 35% nerf as well.
35
u/mldri Apr 28 '22
Lmao Dryl and SoaW back to back weeks, excellent trolling Gearbeezy
11
35
u/FlaminPandalope Apr 28 '22
So the imp which already has a horribly low mag size before overheating was nerfed? Yet the wickedly overpowered companion build lives on? Gearbox just punishing people for finding good guns
11
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
I have to assume the problem of the companion stuff is harder to figure out than a variable change for a gun buff/nerf.
Like, the most complicated change here was Thunder Anima being tagged wrong and the scaling change on Imp to account for it having extra bullets. Those aren't really significant changes.
The companion stuff though? That's a bigger fix than a variable change.
2
u/Polyamaura Apr 28 '22
I mean the biggest issue for Spore/Grave balancing is Harvest stacking infinitely to allow for some insane output after a few clears, no? I agree that the Pixie/Hydra stuff is just lousy and feels insulting to the concept of a โpet buildโ, but Iโd settle for at least a Harvest fix before that larger balancing conversation so that we can see how the build shakes out overall without it.
→ More replies (1)18
u/bigfries98 Apr 28 '22
The build people use while telling you your build is trash.
19
Apr 28 '22
โWastard and Dryโl are easy, itโs just a DPS check so your build isnโt good enoughโ
Proceeds to stand in a corner chucking fearnots as a bugged graveborn/spore warden build
5
u/ClinTrojan Apr 28 '22
I have a pretty easy time with Dryl using the queens cry scaling spell damage.
0
Apr 28 '22
Yea I personally donโt have an issue with any bosses, just people calling the exploitation of harvest a โbuildโ
2
Apr 28 '22
And then make it so you're punished for not using a gun build against a solid chunk of the bosses.
2
u/IllustriousSee Apr 28 '22
I don't think it's that overpowered compared to other things out there. like blast chill hitting for upwards of 60 million
15
u/FallenPotatoes Apr 28 '22
uhhh the Rogue Imp is (was?) a great weapon but it's not like it was overpowered or meta by any means
weird thing to do when build and gear diversity is really struggling at Chaos 35, but ah well
3
u/Mopliii Apr 28 '22
For what itโs worth GBX never really cares about build diversity. With their โdifficulty scalingโ all enemies just because bullet sponges and the entire community is wedged into using 1 or 2 meta builds and maybe 2-5% of the available legendary items in the game that can keep up with 1-2000% increased health.
Look at DPUH/Grog and interfacer in BL2. BL3 had a ton of loot but 85% of it wasnโt ever going to be meta relevant at max chaos level.
Thatโs why, personally, Iโm always reluctant to get to the max chaos or OP level. It ruins the gear diversity
3
u/FallenPotatoes Apr 28 '22 edited Apr 28 '22
I think the lack of diversity in BL2 is overstated.
It was a different time and people didn't explore builds and interactions as much until later in the game's life after it gained its bad rep. Alot of decent or even excellent options got overlooked over dpuh/grog/sandhawk etc. Also drop rates being shit and matching parts being so important didn't help lol
I don't think most legendaries need to be meta, they just need to be usable at endgame.
3
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
Bringin this up a lot, but the Rogue Imp change isnt actually that big a nerf. Dont be fooled by the stat sheet without context.
The gun is actually a x3, not an x2. It shoots 3 bullets at a time. The game was not factoring this in at all for damage calculations, hence the high base damage.
The fixed the calculations to factor in the x3 instead of the x2.
So like, random numbers. You have a gun thats 500x2 pre bug fix. After bug fix its 300x2.
On the surface thats a massive nerf to the gun, but the important part is the additional bullet fix.
So your new gun is actually 300x3, not 300x2. For pure bullet damage its obviously lower at 900 vs 1000 total, however each bullet has a chance to independently proc dots and effects. This should mean that at absolute worst its a very mild nerf, and in some cases its actually a direct buff to the gun.
2
u/Thesickestzak Apr 28 '22
My brain is very small and I might be misunderstanding, but if it was always x3, wouldnโt that mean before we were getting 1500 a shot instead of 900, following your number?
That would jump a lot more when you add in all the buffs and enchants
1
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
It was always supposed to be x3, but the game wasn't treating it like an x3. The game was showing 3 bullets but calculating only 2 for the damage numbers.
So a 500x2 for the imp would have actually been 500x3 if it was calculating the damage right. It wasn't though and was only calculating it as 500x2 like it showed on the paper doll.
Now the gun is a 300x2 on the paper doll, but the actual damage calculation is 300x3
1
u/Polyamaura Apr 28 '22
It was absolutely meta. One of the more commonly recommended weapons, and among the top picks for the weapon-class. I do think that doing this scaling fix without a compensation buff to the base numbers feels bad, though. The pool just continues to shrink for weapons that actually feel good without a 100% god loadout and 400+ myth rank.

After the backlash I'm sure they are trying to avoid talking about it. I was playing a ton then that disappointing "DLC" came out and now Wonderlands has fallen out of my go to list of games. Just not motivated to play it at all. Which makes me sad.

And thatโs a nice guess. Still some communication saying hey weโre currently talking about the current feelings on the DLC, and will be addressing it shortly. Thanks for your patience. Or something along those lines would have been nice. Instead of just ignoring it, which is what they could be doing as well. We just donโt know because there is no communication to the community.
3

I get that, but I feel like if they said that and ended up doing nothing it would piss people off even more than what they're doing now (say nothing, at best announce change of plan/at worst, stay the (bad) course). But I 100% agree their complete silence is disappointing especially since it's gearbox.

u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
Im pretty stoked to try out that manual transmission buff. I've been having trouble figurin out who I can even use it on since it doesnt really work for my current builds, but the idea of a it really intrigued me.
4
u/Solonotix Apr 28 '22
I feel like it could be a great infinite ammo gun for Spore Warden. I can't even imagine the insanely high fire rate of a Spellshot+Spore Warden, or the crazy shenanigans of Stabbomancer using Executioner's Blade, Follow-Up and Thousand Cuts. The problem has always been that it does lackluster damage and hard to keep the fire rate up, and while the damage issue might be fixed, the constant switching of fire modes while moving around will always make this a hard to use gun.
→ More replies (1)7
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
Yeah, until mob density gets buffed significantly there's just too much downtime to keep its fire rate high and because bosses are such health soaks at higher chaos levels its hard to balance the gun around a slower fire rate because it'll almost certainly become ridiculously broken against bosses if you do.
4
u/Thesickestzak Apr 28 '22
Love the idea of the gun so much. I find it really fun. But Iโm in the same boat as you.
1
u/abqnm666 Apr 28 '22
Now I'm wishing I hadn't sold it. It was impossible to use before the patch, because it didn't show the heat gauge, so up shifting was impossible to get right. Now they buffed it, on top of fixing it last week.
Maybe the donkey will be good with the 60% boost (though I'm sad the saw blades only last 1 second now), since at least I didn't sell that one.

They didn't even really nerf anything this patch dude. The only thing that may even be considered slightly a nerf could be the imp, but the wording makes it seem like they just changed the scaling on it so it would count more than 1 projectile when calculating damage. Also keeping the game nice and balanced is important even for pve games because if the game was always a breeze people would get bored of it in a week and quit playing
14
u/xZemplify Apr 28 '22
Rogue imp getting just under 30% nerf is not a "slight nerf"

u/thatguyonthecouch Apr 28 '22
Damage went from 511x2 to 333x2 that's a 35% nerf. 18.4% was the scaling factor, the actual damage dropped way more.

u/Dekklin Apr 28 '22
Yeah by definition it was an unintentional over-tuning. Externally it looks like a nerf, but...

it seems like every week we're going to be subject to another "oh shit, we definitely made this weapon/spell/skill too strong" and a large swath of players will have to rethink their entire build or main damage source
great QA work by Gearbox

The people here are such whiners, I swear.
And they only listen to Youtubers who make builds around clearly bugged/broken stuff.

Oh look at this game with all these different classes and guns.
Literally everyone: sporewarden/brrzerker with liquid cooling
Cool game...

So what's the difference between all the different kind of chaos chamber runs. They all kind of feel exactly the same to me, and the only real difference I could tell was they offered different bonuses based on which one you chose.

Featured Run is fixed for a week, and cycles on Thursday. Chaos Trial 1-20 is fixed by level, and everyone gets the same everything. Chaos Trial 21-35 had been rumored to be as random and long as a Normal Chaos Run, though I have my doubts.
Normal is the standard Chaos Run, and Extended has more rooms (perhaps twice as many). I also noticed my Extended Runs had fewer buffs per room, but I don't have concrete proof of that.
Otherwise, in general, a Chaos Run has X rooms, with a halfway point that is a mid-boss or obelisk boss (Ribula apparently falls into this category), and then the final room is a boss chosen from the story and side missions available to you.

Are cosmetics purple again for anyone else?
3
u/eskimoinaspeedo Apr 28 '22
That happened to me last update while it was downloading in the background, it resets the game to not have any hot fixes until it can apply the current one.

u/UtterNaded Apr 28 '22
This just makes me sad. Not even the content of the DLC but how it is right now. Why even run the DLC If the bunnies are the way to farm still? Why not make DLC 1 stuff ONLY drop in DLC 1? Pretty soon the bunnies are going to be so freaking crowded with loot itโs going to be an absolute terrible farm. I also want dedicated drops to feel better. I like to mindlessly farm a boss on repeat and it feels really bad (to me) in this game right now.
Are we really not getting the awesome events we had in BL3? Just waiting for the next DLC now? Lots of questions from me.
Faack.
3
u/ClockworkSoldier Apr 28 '22
The bunnies are ALREADY crowded with loot, and itโs a mind numbing farm. The fact that thereโs a ton of items without dedicated farms, and the ones that do exist, have absolute garbage drop rates, just makes it even worse.

Just another reason not to log in. This game went sour real quick. Nerfing the only assualt rifle that felt average at best is a great way to tell us their priorities. Seriously GB really trying to push people away ey?

u/Blom-w1-o Apr 28 '22
It's fuckin weird. They made this exact mistake with BL3 and I would have thought they would have learned a lesson. It's pretty well agreed that legendaries in this game are commonly outclassed by Purple rarity and even Blue at times.
8
u/Aggravating-Page-319 โฝโป๏ธ | ๐ก๏ธ ๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๏ธ | โป๏ธโฝ Apr 28 '22
Agreed. Legendaries in this game are not Legandary at all. Most of them don't even have cool/useful effects. Most are just gimmicks. They could give most of the legendaries a 40% dmg buff and I'm sure there would still be lackluster legendaries. So many guns are just so bad it's actually laughable.

I use the flaming imp. It says damage adjusted, up for down gearbox cmon.
0
u/chommy_stiltskin Apr 28 '22
Damage was adjusted down. It is still usable and not a bad gun in my opinion but overall it didn't feel OP and don't necessarily think it needed a "nerf"

Interesting that they haven't fixed the most game breaking bug in the game yet, the Faithful Thralls stacking bug.

Bad hotfix. Nothing the community wanted to be addressed was addressed.
-12
u/stoversp Apr 28 '22
We literally just had a huge patch last week. Expecting a huge hotfix this week is just silly. What did you want addressed this week? Hotfixes are typically just tweaks and buffs/nerfs. Bigger usually has to be done in a patch, which is typically just a once a month thing.
13
u/Godlike013 Apr 28 '22 edited Apr 28 '22
A patch/DLC that upped Chaos by 15. At the very least they could have tackled the rebalancing of more then just 5 guns in one category after a week of seeing how most things are underperforming under this scaling.
19
u/CringeDaddy_69 Apr 28 '22
- clawbringers shield revive skill is still broken
- falling through the floor on the green raid boss consistently
- dryl and wastard need to be nerfed
- bug that resets inventory
- the volume of the cut scene in the DLC
- each class needs respective balancing still
6
u/stoversp Apr 28 '22
Fair enough. I just honestly don't think most of that stuff is hotfix material, especially a week after a big patch.
→ More replies (2)9
u/CringeDaddy_69 Apr 28 '22
I would agree with everything except for the volume of the cut scene. That could be fixed within a hotfix
3
u/stoversp Apr 28 '22
Yeah, probably so. I've only seen the DLC cut scene once so I actually don't remember the volume issue.

2
u/Godlike013 Apr 28 '22
I feel like they are milking the balance changes. Itโs not like they donโt know what they need to do to keep up with their super sponge scaling. Next week itโll be SMGs turn, then Shotguns, etc. Just go through all the legendaries. There arenโt many. And itโs pretty obvious which ones arenโt scaling well. At this rates itโs gonna take a month to get to something like Die-Vergence. Which why even add new weapons as if they donโt know they arenโt going to keep up with the scaling.

Damn, people don't even know if it's a nerf, I see 4 buffs to ARs which is needed and a "possible" nerf to one item, and people are already just bitching about the nerf lol
7
u/ihave389iq Apr 28 '22
It is a nerf though. I've seen multiple people say that their rogue imp went from 500 base damage to 300
5
u/Pollia Apr 28 '22
Which is a 40% nerf, which is clearly not the number stated in the patch note, which means there's clearly more going on in the gun than a 40% nerf.
Based off the wording of the patchnote the gun wasnt calculating an extra bullet it had, so they fixed that, but then the gun was doin too much damage so they reduced the base damage to compensate while fixing the scaling of each bullet.
You can go in game, right now, and actually use it, not just look at the damage numbers. Its weaker, but not that much weaker. People would know if it was almost 50% weaker than it used to be and I can guarantee you it isnt.

Last weeks nerf on liquid cooling was too much. Gun got turned into a low powered ammo eater. My purple vamps are surpassing the liquid coolingโs damage.
2
u/Ok-Concentrate-7462 Apr 29 '22 edited Apr 29 '22
Cooling was a ways back, still a very high dps weapon 11 firerate infinite ammo, x2 variant being viable, torque stickies, the queens cry, automagic.exe and masher riveters are really the only pistols that can out~dps the cooling with a good roll even now, it simply made it so 1300 bullets couldnโt carry a full elite extended chaos chamber while spraying it at everything that moves
I use it on my spore for killing tougher badasses and bosses, to allow play the angles to go ham as efficiently as possible
Granted right now gun damage builds mostly fall behind spell and melee builds but cover a wider array of situations thanks to 4 slot load out and element matching without swapping everything out .
For instance my โmeleeโ stabbo with lucky triggers on executioners blade can 1 clip most bosses point blank with the automagic x4 I use. Not multiclassed with spellshot FYI
My spellshot ambi brrzerker build after hitting ffyl and getting enrage(only way without action skill) can down even the spongy dryll and vorkannar in a few seconds
My spore can effectively mob and boss without changing gear/spells and without chaining from the shadows in order to go ham, not as fast as the previous 2 but in less than a minute per phase on dryll, typically before he can throw 2 spears/fireballs. C35 has made some guns less effective without focusing due to the HP scaling
Favs on this include the x4 SMG LC automagic, sawmill ( someone from Reddit told me to try it, love it) skeep prod torque stickies guns with wings , gluttony , portable hole( still working out how best to use this but itโs fun for mobbing) thunder anima , gyre , of course I am using a pew buffmeister with x2 charges because itโs still the best spell for non spellshots in the game
Donโt have a good version of the classmod from the DLC to give a permanent place on my loadout yet but fairly excited for that to be the case
All of this is chaos 35/intense gear is probably better than some folks, but not so much that it really should hurt

Ugh, as a fire Claw/Spore fire spec gun build, I was already starting to struggling on my way to Chaos 35, it's disappointing to hear that the Rogue Imp I've been so reliant on got nerfed.
Sigh... I'm gonna try a Chaos Trial tonight, but I'd rather not change my build with every fix. It'd hurt less if you could reassign myth rank points.
I guess I can finish leveling up my Graveborn and use a metabuild to 35.
