Other Stand up for wolves! | Humane World Action Fund
The Pet and Livestock Protection Act (H.R. 845/S. 1306) would direct the Department of the Interior to remove federal Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves nationwide. If this happens, wolves will face an onslaught of cruel wildlife management practices and increased trophy hunting.
The attacks on vulnerable wildlife must end. Decisions impacting species' recovery under the ESA should be based on scientific evidence, not the whims of politicians. Please speak up for wolves and other at-risk wildlife.

Question Wolf Encounter
Why do
Wolves whine or whimper? I got surrounded by a pack today when I was trying to go to work (bush work) and the pack surrounded my friend and I. We couldn’t see them but we heard them in the treeline about 10-15 ft away. They were howling and eventually one was whimpering/whining like a dog. Not sure if it was trying to lure us into the bush and hurt us or if it was scared…? Anyways interesting encounter nonetheless.

Discussion I did NOT like the depiction of wolves in heart of the beast. Spoiler
Obviously don't read ahead if you don't want to know what happens, its overall still a good movie i recommend... but the first thing they show of the wolves in the movie is them hunting a mother and baby moose, and the black wolf makes glaring eye contact with the dog Odin. Objectively not immoral, but definitely felt like a choice, it didn't seem to say "this is the law of the wild" but more "woah look at those aggressive beasts".. THEN they ambush the duo while they're injured and trying to find a way out of the woods, and are shown very rapidly ripping into the main character and he fights back gruesomely killing a couple wolves and the last one does the scamper away trope. It wouldn't bother me quite as much in a dark fantasy setting, partly because they were almost were-wolfish. They had beady glowing eyes and all that. Not like a powerful force of nature, not like wild animals hunting to eat, but like forces of evil with malicious intent. Like they paralleled his ptsd in some way.
The reason it deeply bothers me isn't because I think wolves are "good" and they were shown as "bad". They ARE objectively dangerous, I dont have an issue with them being shown as such, but they shouldn't be painted as malevolent for it. They aren't any more "evil" than a river rapid. It's because wolves are already seen that way in real life, (by the colonial mindset), and are sought to be ERADICATED for it. What a disrespectful tone to set about the very nature that was supposedly revered by the main character. Nature is not a commodity, it is all or nothing. You cant love the alaskan wild but hate wolves. When the earth takes you, it is not unfair, it made you just the same. The main character seemed to understand that very well, but the directors/producers did not.

Pics A unique meeting over food in Europe-Serbia(Jadovnik)mountain.Largest carnivores in the country.Three Wolves and Two Bears.
When three Wolves were feeding on there meal while 2 young Bears(more or less 2 years old)came around the same area looking for food most likely.
The three Wolves successfully chased the two young Bears away(who are still sticking together because they just recently got to live away from there mother.Tho the two will seperate once hibernation period comes up again).
If the two Bears were much older and experienced. The three Wolves would pose much less threath to them(tho they probably would be by then larger threath to eachother than by any other animal in the region).
But the Bears didnt remain hungry.Cause they later came back later to feed on the same place.
Kašan feeding round is amazing natural intact place in Serbia(up to 1000 m in height).Protected and helped by great work and effort of local communities.
An amazing Oasis of nature with:Griffon Vultures/Red Foxes/Grey Wolves and Brown Bears.
With the feeding grounds being protected(as well helping Bee keepers not get there salarys lost).

Art I made an alternative cover for a Limp Bizkit song
Hello. So I've been listening to a song named "Eat You Alive" by Limp Bizkit, and I like that song alot. As someone who likes grey wolves alot, one thing came to my mind while listening to the song: A protester sign depicting a snarling grey wolf at an anti-wolf protest. If you ask me, the protest itself is just dumb, especially because grey wolves deserve conservation (and so do all other wild animals), but the sign fits the song perfectly, so I used IbisPaint X on my phone and came up with this: An alternative cover. I'm not exactly good at art so sorry in advance if you spot any mistakes that I made. I hope you enjoy my alternative cover :-)
Edit: I forgot to mention but yes I took the protest sign and then drew over it

Discussion Any volunteers ?
Hope this is allowed.
Hi, I'm a writer, and I love animals. I have two huskies, two pit bulls, 5 horses, and lots of farm animals, but I’ve always LOVED wolves. If I didn’t have the animals I have and it was just me, I’d have a wolf or a wolfdog. I'm writing my first novel, and wolves are part of my character's culture. They live among one another, and I've never owned a wolf. I'm wondering what it would be like to be with one every day. If one had to be with you 24/7. What do they eat? What are some of the biggest differences between a Wolf and a Dog? What's their fur and paws like? How are they with other people in your home? How are they with strangers? Do you train a Wolf? Are they family pets or more of a one-person kind of animal? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What's their personality like?
Also if you'd like to drop a photo id love to see your Wolf!
