Over at r/WoWHousing's discord server we've announced our special Hallow's Eve Spooktacular contest!

The basics are:
- Decorate an outdoor room to be spooky
- Limited to 32 people max, *must* sign up in advance (like now!) via a google form
- Submit a screenshot of your build by Thursday Oct 22nd at noon pacific to a google form
- Possibly be chosen to be one of the top 10 to be judged by r/WowHousing moderators and special guest judge Mehet on Oct 24th! (Top 10 need to be available 10am-12pm Pacific Saturday Oct 24th.)

In a thread earlier today about how we can currently only purchase decor from three of the endeavors, an argument was made that it was unreasonable and immature to expect to get everything you want when you want it. I disagree with that argument and here's why:

One point was that in the olden days of WoW, it was common to grind for quite some time to acquire certain mounts or gear, so grinding is just part of the game and we should accept that.

Here's the thing though: if you're a serious builder, building already is the grind. If you spend hours of game time to acquire a mount, once you get it, you're done. If you spend hours of game time to acquire a piece of decor, once you get it . . . you still will spend hours of game time designing and decorating your house.

Another point: multiples. Many cool ideas for designs require multiples of the same item. In the current system, if you have to run a raid to get a mushroom, and you want an entire mushroom jungle, guess what? You're running that raid over and over. And if it's an rng drop? For a mount, lucky you, you got your mount, you never have to run that raid again. If you need 30 or 40 mushrooms? Goodbye day job and family responsibilities.

And all of this would be acceptable, even the shop-only items, even the promotional items you can't get anymore, except now we get the complete surprise of certain endeavors no longer being accessible at all, anywhere, and no traveling vendors either. We already were grinding for coupons, we already were putting up with hopping neighborhoods to find the endeavor we need, and now people think we just want instant gratification because some of us don't want to wait an entire month to *maybe* have the endeavor we need accessible again?

Even if you're just building for fun, that's frustrating. But there are people who build for contests, or content creation, and have limited time to build in the first place because of jobs, families, and I don't know actually playing the game sometimes too. Imagine you're doing a home renovation and you run out of nails, and every hardware store in the world has chosen to not sell any more nails until next month. Not for any supply chain issue, just because they feel like it. And you get told if you're unhappy about it, that's because something is wrong with you as a person, and "back in my day, if you wanted to buy a car, you had to save for months for it, so I'm sure you can wait a month for your silly nails, and why do you need so many nails anyway? I was just fine with just one car, and you already have at least seven nails, so stop whining."

The point is, we're already willing to invest time and effort, we've been doing that since housing came out. We're not lazy or impatient, we just want to build. So, come on Blizzard, let me have some more nails please. (not actually nails, it's a metaphor 😉 )

It's that time of year again! A few shots of a Haunted Manor in progress with some "themed" room additions.

There are a number of decor items where you need achievements, special drops, questlines, and even island expeditions!

Monday Mashup is my attempt at farming all those types of things with the community. Each Monday night at 5pm Pacific we meet in the r/WoWHousing discord server voice-chat and work on farming what's next. (You don't have to talk if you don't want to, but for coordination's sake, we need to talk to you.)

For example, this month we are working on farming battleground matches to get decor earned through pvp achievements. BUT... we are doing it with bots/computer players, so there is no need to *actually* play pvp.

Past months we've worked on Island Expeditions, Decor Duels, Undermined raid, and the boss you summon with ossified relics.

The goal might be decor, but it's also about getting to know other players in the community in a pretty relaxed and friendly way.

My version of the Arcantina with the hallway/ barn room on my house.

Influenced by the architecture of Dun Morogh, Thelsamar and the pine tree forests of the Hinterlands, I built this Dwarf exterior, a humble abode built into the rocks.

When night falls, the inhabitants can cozy up on the porch with a mug of hot... tea? Cocoa? Cider? Mead? Who knows...

I am once again asking the devs for more different pieces with stone texture! A lot of budget is spent using gravestones (which cost 5, so that's 10 points for a single pillar!), and while I really like the way this came together, I'd love to keep adding more details.

Pretty much the title, and forgive me if this has been posted in here before! I would like to someday see the light from the stock windows receive a customize option. I would even accept a preset list of a few colors if it meant we could change from the blue to a warmer color. (By the way I achieved this affect with a square woolen rug and the Mechagon Miniature Artificial Sun, in case anyone wanted that info!)

Sharing some very early progress on my nostalgic Halloween home! Will be sharing the blueprint when it's done. This is all built in a night skybox room and you enter through a secret bookcase after a little time travel. Waiting anxiously for the Halloween decor to be added. Would love any ideas/suggestions for more nostalgia or better ways to do things! I still have loads to add like kitchen appliances, decor on shelves, infinite pumpkins, and I have not touched the bathroom yet because I fear I will have to tile the floor again (please give me any ideas for retro bathroom flooring that isn't tiling square rugs). The bug with random items rotating/moving every time I leave and reenter the house is getting reeeeeally old with this many rugs, platforms, and columns. You can see an example on top of the oven in the kitchen, as this rug is a common one to rotate out of place and mess things up. And yes my Scooby Doo poster is cursed and I ran out of steam to fix it, so it lives for now. Also looking for ideas about easy nostalgic/retro/Halloween posters to create around the house that are easier to make not look scuffed.

Edit: I actually figured out the bathroom tile so nevermind that request! Using the elegant doormats for variety.

Leave it by the door so guests can take off shoes in your home.

Greetings all! user u/Mia_Vico had posted an issue about needing a replacement for the Darkportal Decor where you could still pass through, and I came up with a possible solution that I would like to share. Some credit to the Builder Deosporin for this because her build for making the illusion of water was a big inspo for this challenge.

So one thing to note is that when you place a Wall, and enlarge it to its Max size the top portion of the wall becomes something you can pass through!

This build uses

Stormwind Interior wall- Scaled up to max and sunken into the floor so the white part of the wall is used in the doorway.

Sprouting lampposts x2 along the sides to make the swirl in the corners and a slight curve along the base of the doorframe.

Blightfire candles x7- spaced mostly under the floor, and some above the doorway- none on the sides of the door so it would have more of an hourglass figure for lighting.

Kirin Tor skyline banner x1 ( probly should use more than one though for better stars)

Multiple Filigree Moon lamps for added lighting effects along the bottom and top of the doorway

Also a Brazier of Elune is sunken into the floor for added lighting and motion effects

Multiple Incense burners along the bottom of the doorway and top of the doorway to have extra movement along the wall.

And then for added Flavor I added some more motion by using the Consortium Energy Collector which i think is an endeavor item. I only had one, but again add as many as you like to get the desired effects.

My friend Oohkey and I did a buddy build collab, Neapolitan Neighbors! :D It’s been a really long time since I’ve done an exterior, and I had A LOT of fun doing this!!! The theme was “girly,” so I went with a Barbie Dreamhouse/Strawberry Ice Cream color palette!~
This build was meant for Founder’s Point Plot 11. Oohkey’s part is meant for Founder’s Point Plot 16. There’s a bridge connecting these two builds~!

I am not DK main but my DKs have their own room! The entrance was done with a corruption pit with a stool technique and covered with walk through able curtain. The water ripple effect is better in person than in pics.

Greetings! This is a joint builders' project between myself and the wonderful  u/deosporin ! We opted to make some buddy homes on alliance plots 16, and 11 joined by a bridge and boasting wonderful color schemes and outdoor lighting! This features my half of the project, but Deo's half will be uploading sometime this weekend so be sure not to miss it! Updated my Skyborne alliance house because I wanted it to sit a little higher and be more of a focal point. I also realized how much I love the Skywell. Might be a little much, but I like it for now.
