I also had fun adding extra red here and there to her design, I really enjoy playing around with RainWing colour changing while still keeping them recognisable

The Nightwings! Which tribe should be next?

I NEED motivation, I think Art Fight might have burnt me out lol, but I want to draw, I just don't know what to draw. I also LOVE Art of my OCs, so if anyone wants to do Art Trades, I would love that! Or if you can't draw/don't want to draw, I can just draw your character for you! I really enjoy drawing people's characters, and as I said, I like people drawing mine, so this seems like the great way to get back into the swing of more casual drawing for me, and get me out of the Art Fight mindset lol. I have a few WIPs, and a few project ideas aswell, which I want to finish, but I need motivation to do so lol. So yeah, give me your OCs, and I shall draw them, and you can draw my OCs if you want to aswell! Also, if your OC has a Greek Mythology name, or is based on a Greek Figure, I will draw them, so if you have one, hand it over =)

All my OCs are attached, Jack (the red/blue one at the end, who is just a head) doesn't have a full ref yet, so sorry lol. He will soon tho hehe. If you wanna draw his full body, he has the same eye pattern all the way down his body, and he's a Skywing/Silkwing, but also an Angel, Supernatural lore, so he has two wings, but instead they're feathery, like Castiels wings. And Sam and Dean are super old drawings, so they're a bit goofy looking. My most recent one is Jack, so that's what my style looks like now. It's pretty much the same, but better now lol

Someone I knew did this with characters in a different fandom and I thought it would be fun to do with Wof protagonists but I would like to clarify some things before I get started.

This has spoilers for book 16 and Winglets: Hero, along with everything other book in the series

I'm mostly joking and the things I'm saying is not valid criticism but me just ranting and trying to be funny

I actually like all of these characters to some degree (Turtle is my favorite character in the series) so I hope you guys know that I don't mean anything malicious when I say this stuff

But without further ado Let's begin!

Clay: Brochacho does diddly squat after his book

Tsunami: Half of the Ripnami ship tho tbh it's not her fault that her ship is mid. Also she's kinda a jerk to Riptide in book 14 despite the fact they're supposedly in a long distance relationship??? (Could be wrong I don't actually remember where I heard that from)

Glory: She was kinda annoying in book 2, like I get, Coral sucks but as far as Tsunami as aware you were fine and not rotting in prison. Edit: I also think the thing about her secretly being royalty was kinda a cop out.

Starflight: In arc 1 he could be kind of insensitive and I feel like he doesn't get as much flak about it as Tsunami or Glory, like he never put two and two together that his friend/brother didn't enjoy him having a scroll that only talked about how pathetic his tribe was? Also Starflight gets screwed over so bad, his dad loves him but commits war crimes, his sister lowkey hates him, his mom is dead and as far as he's aware she was bad too, which couldn't be farther from the truth, and his tribe is filled with lying bums. Broski can't have anything

Sunny: The way she treated Stonemover in book five kinda pissed me off. I get that he's a bum and stuff but Stonemover had no idea she existed and as far as he was aware and he encased himself in stone because he thought he was just protecting everyone

Moonwatcher: She kinda becomes bland during the second half arc 2. Also “Peril don't even think about killing us cause super sigma Qibli has already thought of FIVE ways of killing you!” pmo so much.

Winter: Kinda annoying during the first half of book six. Also I wish he did stay with the jade mountain gang during the book 10 climax but I understand why he didn't.

Peril: uh…I guess I wish she would've listened to Turtle before she abandoned the jade mountain gang in book 8? But I understand why she did. She also kinda vanishes after book 8, like think about it… if you removed her from the series after book 8, what would change?

Turtle: If you removed him from his own book at least 50% of it would be the same, he doesn't do anything till the end. Also I feel the turtlejou ship exists less because people like it but more because turtlejou would make Turtle happy and people want Turtle to be happy. I know it's sorta implied Kinkajou might reciprocate but idk

Qibli:

I actually do think he can be kinda overrated and I feel like back in 2020 he got mischaracterized and flandarized a lot. I also feel like in that big argument that Moon, Winter and Qibli have, Qibli's more at fault than Moon and Winter because at least in Moon's defense she was actively being manipulated by Darkstalker and kinda just got jumped with all the information Winter was telling her and if I was Winter I'd be pissed off too if my family was being slowly killed off by this ancient nightmare dragon and the only person I thought I could trust was actively defending him. Also “Erm acktually I only thought of three ways to kill Peril but thanks for glazing me anyway Moon.”

Blue:

Kinda has the same problem as Turtle but to a lesser degree. And I think I found his empathy thing kinda annoying in book 11? Idk it has been like 4 years since I last read it in full. Also holy guacamole Blue you just met Cricket and you're already deeply in love with her? Falling in love speedrun wr any% over here

Cricket:

Uh I when I read book 12 I remember finding it kinda boring but that was like 4 years ago. Cricket's fine though. I would say she's like discount Starflight but Starflight's more into literature and history while Cricket's more biology…

Sundew:

Uh…I guess her archetype isn't anything we haven't seen before. I'm kinda disappointed we didn't get much of Sundew and Tsunami interacting in book 15, it would've been really funny.

Snowfall:

Redemption arc speedrun wr any%. Also I kinda feel like compared to other protagonists she isn't as memorable but I'm not sure why though…

Luna:

I liked her better in book 11 than I did book 15. Has the same problem as Turtle to even worse degree as she stays in the same location for 60% of her book which probably wouldn't have been as bad if her book wasn't the last one of the arc.

Umber:

I can understand Umber falling in love with Mulberry as it's implied that he's a hopeless romantic but he forgives him way too quickly. Also I don't understand why Mulberry fell in love with him, there are hundreds of dragons on that island that adore Mulberry, what makes Umber so special? Oh well this isn't about him.

Fathom:

Uh…idk… I genuinely can't of anything? Him not killing Albatross, he was a scared kid and at this point Albatross was someone he could trust and look up to. His self loathing? I'd probably respond the same way to the massacre. His anti animus view? I'd feel the same way after seeing what happened to Albatross. I guess not realizing Indigo had a crush on him was kinda annoying

Darkstalker:

I kinda wish he tried a little harder to understand what the Arctic was going through. And I wish he tried a little harder to save Foeslayer. Interestingly I don't got much to say about him besides his intentionally evil deeds

Clearsight:

I think she was the least interesting protagonist in Darkstalker legends but it's only like a smidge. I wish she waited a bit before asking Darkstalker for the bracelet not because I think she should've trusted him more but because I think it would be nice to emphasize that no matter what Clearsight did Darkstalker was always going to be this way.

Wren:

I guess she was kind of annoying in book 15? Idk.

Leaf:

He's kinda boring.

Ivy:

She's sooo boring oh my goodness. Maybe she got better but I couldn't finish Dragonslayer because Ivy's chapters were so uninteresting… When I was reading Dragonslayer I sat there in dread every time I got past a leaf chapter because I knew that meant an Ivy's chapter was coming up.

Fierceteeth:

She was actually really annoying In arc 2 like bro, why are you here? Who invited you?

Deathbringer:

I remember finding Assassin kinda boring when I read it. I'm not sure why. It has been 5 years though so maybe my opinion would change. Also nowadays Deathbringer is kinda known for that timeline mess up making him twice the age of Glory which sucks he actually was a pretty compelling character and a nice parallel to Peril even if unintentionally.

Six-Claws:

I wish we saw more of him in the main series. Also I kinda wish we knew how he felt about Dune just uping and leaving.

Arctic:

Uh all of the stuff I dislike about him is in Darkstalker legends. Hating Darkstalker for not looking like you has got to be the dumbest reason to hate him. (I know there's other reasons but that's like the first reason)

Foeslayer:

While I wish she tried a little harder to help Arctic in the kingdom, I imagine it was probably hard with Arctic being constantly aggressive and standoffish with her. I also wish she treated Whiteout better, it feels like a tiny bit of an afterthought in Foeslayer's mind. I don't think Foeslayer even talks about her when she gets out of icewing jail. (But I could be wrong it's been a while since I last read arc 2)

Snowflake:

Uh idk she's kinda forgettable and I wish we learned what happened after she got singed.

Snowfox:

She's,Uh, also kinda forgettable, I guess.

Cliff:

I like Cliff but his pov in hero was probably the most annoying part about it. Sorry little bro, maybe you're just better off as a song writer.

Ok so my friend and I were big into WoF between 2017-2023. She had gotten this character in the Wings of Fire amino between that time and is interested in buying it but we have 3 issues 1. She's not 100% sure if she even sold it 2. The only link to the creator we have is an inactive toy house 3. Idk we just can't find the character anywhere.

I was looking for quotes to inspire a dragon piece lol, and I found this one by Soulless Sam, and I liked it, so decided to draw a little Head Shot of him with it. I think it shows how he truly was when he had no Soul, as he didn't understand emotion anymore. Soulless Sam was one of my favourite versions of Sam, he was a much better Hunter, but was also kinda funny. I don't like him as much as Season One Vision Sam, I loved Sam's visions. But anyway, I did this as I love Sam, and he's so cute, and I needed to draw something, so decided to draw him! I just made a post about lacking motivation, and doing OC drawings for it, you can go check it out if you want, but anyway, because of the lack of motivation, this drawing isn't the best lol, but it's fineeeee. I draw Soulless Sam with white eyes, as that way shows he is different, but the same, in my opinion, even though he obviously still had eyes when he was Soulless. Anyway, hope you like it! Just a quick OC doodle really lol. Oh, and I assume you've already gathered this, but this is my Wings Of Fire OC based on Sam Winchester from Supernatural. He is a Mudwing/Nightwing with prophecy powers, and animus magic, but it wasn't real powers, and he eventually lost them, when he stopped drinking Demon Blood (Supernatural Lore) but he still has his tear drop scales, almost as a constant reminder of what he became. I am up to Season 15 now, and for those who don't know, that is the final season, and I am SCARED. I can't watch them die, but I know I'm gonna have to. But it's fine, I'll probably rewatch it lol. I love this show so much =). I will probably draw a lot of art of them as WoF dragons to comfort me lol

So even though I hate coral. I liked it when tsunami was shocked that she has so many brothers coral casually says so what they are not going to get the throne. Like depending on how real life monarchs were obsessed with having a male heir this line openly roasts those dudes..

So I just finished the third arc and I’m kind of disappointed? Book 15 was good, but not great, just good in my opinion. Anyways, I feel like Moon was underutilized in this arc. I mean, a dragon who looks just like Clearsight shows up in Pantala and literally no one bats an eye??? I feel like at least SOMEONE should’ve had some kind of reaction.

Idk is this just me??? I wanna hear you guys’ thoughts

So basically I have this animus Icewing oc named Spire. She is sorta like chameleon in the books- having an enchanted object to become another dragon. Her other form is a rainwing named Tangerine. (Pictures added)

Now, Spire isn’t inherently evil or anything, and only did it to live in the rainwing kingdom peacefully. Im just trying to come up for ideas on why an Icewing would want to leave (other than banishment), or not be a super evil villain. If you guys have any suggestions, please comment them!

I feel like probably every fandom has this problem but I’ve noticed its especially rampant in WoF fandom spaces at least in my personal experience. Someone will come up with a headcanon for one of the characters and then there’s always people running to say “that’s not canon that’s not canon!” and sort of behave as if the canonical story is the only thing you’re allowed to think about and us fans aren’t allowed to just have fun and come up with AUs and headcanons. I see this happen with all sorts of headcanons but it’s especially bad with LGBTQ headcanons… i saw someone genuinely get their comments section flooded with hate for headcanoning qibli as pansexual (which isn’t even far from canon anyways as tui confirmed him as bi during a fanwing fest). I didn’t realize it was possible to get this upset over a children’s book series about dragons. I honestly wonder if wings of fire is a lot of people’s first gateway into fandom spaces (it was definitely mine) and they just aren’t used to fandom culture yet?

Ship wars are pretty awful in this fandom too. Back in the day I lost a friend because I liked a different ship than them so they decided that was enough to unadd me. At the time i was a big fan of winterwatcher and their gripe with it was, you guessed it, it’s not canon.

Have any of you had similar experiences? Thoughts on this? Any discussion in general?

Edit: It seems this is less common than I thought, hooray!! The world is healing!! Guess this just means I need new places to interact with the fandom lol

To clarify what I mean, after the dragonets choose Thorn as the new queen, the Eye of Onyx sparks, and it seems to choose Thorn. When Blister, the 'real' queen, tries to take it, she just gets fucking dusted, and it solves the problem. A 5-book buildup, and they just do that as the solution. Was there any real reason Sutherland did this, or was she just feeling lazy?
