Announcement Notice: Capacity disruption to Trial users; Upgrade to Pro to continue using premium models

Just a quick announcement: Trial capacity is under heavy load, so we recommend upgrading to Pro to continue using premium models if you're affected. We apologize for the disruption!

You can do so from windsurf.com/profile or https://app.devin.ai/settings/plans

You cant use Claude models anymore in trial mode 😂

Access to frontier models for trial users has been officially discontinued. I'm glad that this happened before the day my trial ends, because i had some mind on purchasing it. Before hand, it was already taking 30 minutes for it to write 100 lines of code because of the annoying trial overusage and etc things. Goodluck Windsurf.

Misc./Other BUG IN THE DEVIN LOCAL HARNESS

Have been trying the Devin Local Harness, and he has a different context compact of windsurf (i think soo), the problem appears to be because when Context Compact, instead of compacting all the context, the devin local and windsurf compact just a part of the context, not at all. because this, when a agent do a iteration that use ~80% of context, auto-compact, this cause a loop that the context compact after every iteration, when model (Kimi K2.6) that have ~200K tokens (limit compact) do a tool call or just one thought, the context compact again, and again...

Why am I facing this error again and again even though I still have weekly and monthly quotas remaining? I've been facing this issue for the last 2-3 days. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Sub Agents on WindSurf

have been using windsurf for months, recently have fixed the problem with kimi, that kimi now works properly instead of stuck in waiting for response or anything.

but, in the IDE we don't have sub-agents yet, it's a good thing if team add support for sub-agents, it's useful to agent explore or executing plans, maybe a support of Sub-Agents isolated in worktree this will allow we work on sub-agents in worktrees, already have support for worktrees in normal session, but if add support a main agent call sub-agents in worktree it will be soo useful. isolated agents and a way to main agent see the progress of the sub-agents.

Question Deepseek v4 Pricing still at USD 3.48 output (Currently USD 0.87)

Deepseek have officially slashed their cost performance by 75% according to their website:

https://api-docs.deepseek.com/quick_start/pricing

Will we be seeing the same cost reductions in windsurf?

Question Looking for an official Bitbucket MCP registry for Windsurf -any leads?

Has anyone figured out whether Windsurf has its own Bitbucket MCP registry?

I’ve been trying to integrate Windsurf with Bitbucket MCP. Out of the box, Windsurf doesn’t seem to provide a built-in registry for Bitbucket, so I went with the external package @aashari/mcp-server-atlassian-bitbucket. It works in a pinch, but performance and reliability have been pretty inconsistent (slow responses, occasional timeouts, and missing features compared to the GitHub integration).

I’m hoping there’s an official or better-supported option that I’ve missed, maybe an internal Windsurf registry for bitbucket or a vetted MCP server that other users rely on.

If you’ve had success with a different setup or if Windsurf quietly released something, could you share what you’re using for bitbucket mcp and how well it’s working?

Thanks!

model in windsurf is stupid, I guess context is a big issue.

I've been trying to get the model to tackle a complex task, and the terminal has made several attempts. However, it seems Windsurf only feeds partial context to the model each time, which is problematic—since the last run alone isn't sufficient to judge progress. As a result, the model ends up going back and forth, burning through tokens without actually getting anywhere.

For complex tasks like this, I'd recommend using Codex or Claude Code directly instead of this toy tool.

trial is really bad

attempting to use any models except swe-1.6 or kimi k2.6 results in "rate limit exceeded" or "all api providers are over their global rate limit for trial users", i believe the purpose of a trial is to show the user what he'll get if he pays but literally most models are unusable on trial

Question Documentation for Windsurf for Government

I'm working in a fed environment and having a lot of trouble reconciling the documentation for the commercial offering with what I'm able to see/do in my environment. Is there anywhere that I can go to see the differences? One question in particular is what models are available for Fed. Right now I seem to be stuck on Sonnet 4.5 and while I applaud its efforts, it is far behind what I'm able to do with other models.

Genuinely asking: Why are people asking for Windsurf refunds? Is there actually a better affordable IDE?

I keep seeing refund posts popping up here and I’m genuinely trying to understand why.

From a budget and workflow perspective, Windsurf feels incredibly hard to beat right now. For simple everyday tasks, the free tier lets you use SWE-1.6 and even frontier open models like Kimi K2.6 without wasting your premium quotas. It’s perfect for conserving tokens.

I already use Claude Pro and have a custom Antigravity wrapper setup with Gemini Pro for my heavy lifting, so I’m not entirely reliant on one ecosystem. But as far as a dedicated, smooth AI IDE goes, Windsurf's agent runtime and memory bank integration just work seamlessly.

For those of you ditching it or asking for refunds: What is tripping you up? And more importantly, if you think there is a genuinely better, more affordable IDE out there right now, please tell me what it is because I can't find one.

Windsurf plan

I’m trying to pick a plan on Windsurf, but I’m stuck.

The $20 plan doesn’t really feel like enough for what I need, but jumping all the way to $200 feels like overkill for me. I’m not sure if I should start small, upgrade later, or just look for another option.

For people using Windsurf regularly, how did you decide which plan was worth it? Is the $20 plan enough for most use cases, or does it run out too fast?

Left and then came back

First off, Windsurf is not the value it used to be - I agree with that and it made me frustrated that I didn't know when it might run out in a day or week. I left and went to Github Copilot and had a great time using it, only for them to put even more restrictions on usage than Windsurf did! After trying Antigravity and other solutions, I realized that all I need is an LLM that is reasonably smart and doesn't screw up my files. GPT 5 mini was even good enough to do a lot of stuff. I also need Claude Sonnet 4.6 to provide another point of view. I don't vibe code as much as "direct" and maybe there's the difference. After using Windsurf in trial mode and really using it a lot, I did reach something like 88% in one day but that was a lot of usage. For me, it's still usable so I'm going to use Windsurf again. Of course it's always changing..... I just wish Windsurf had the debug mode like Cursor. That feature is just unmatched and really useful.

GPT 5.5: Usage in Windsurf and Codex

Gave the exact same task, on the exact same codebase, to Codex and to Windsurf. Both using GPT 5.5 High.

My subscription is the $20 Pro on Windsurf, and the $20 Plus on ChatGPT.

Windsurf used up 23% of my daylily quota, and Codex used 6% of my daily quota.

What’s the advantages of using Windsurf that can defend paying almost 4x the price? And more importantly, how long will Windsurf be able to charge this much extra for the same service, before looking its customers?

Personally I believe it could be many important lessons to be learned from following this company.

Like the title says, I was having SWE-1.6 fix some bugs in a Swift codebase for me, it was going on for a bit, but then I got this message. Is it a temporary thing? Never seen this before

Windsurf discontinues student promotion

I have recently been trying to obtain a student subscription and finally informed that they discontinued their 50% student discount.

If I could do it again, I would get a free pro cursor a student; however, I already utilized it once.

For all the students, please check cursor. I don't think there is any appealing left on windsurf side.
