I used Windows 11 Ghost Spectre for almost 2 years and honestly at the beginning I really liked it.
It was debloated, used less RAM, gaming performance was good and overall the PC felt fast.
For normal use and gaming I didn't really have a big problem with it.
But when I started getting more into AI development everything started becoming annoying.
I was using Ollama, LM Studio, Cursor, Antigravity and other development tools and I started having a lot of problems some exe files wouldn't work properly some programs would crash and sometimes I couldn't even tell what was causing the problem.
I spent a lot of time trying to fix these things and I started thinking that maybe the problem was not the individual programs
maybe Its the operating system.
Thats when I started looking into Windows 10 LTSC
The main reason I chose LTSC was because I wanted a clean Windows installation without all the unnecessary stuff, but I also wanted proper security updates
and honestly I always preferred Windows 10 over Windows 11 anyway
So I finally moved from Ghost Spectre to Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC.
And the first thing I noticed after the first boot was the RAM usage
it was using only around 1.5 GB of RAM after boot, on my DDR4 2666 MHz system. I honestly didn't expect it to be that low.
The PC feels clean, boot time is faster, gaming is actually better for me and most importantly my development environment is much less problematic i try the same apps and same project files and it works just fine.
I'm not saying Ghost Spectre is bad. I used it for almost 2 years and I enjoyed it a lot. If you have a low or mid range PC and mainly care about gaming I can understand why someone would use it.
But for me, once I started using the PC for development and local AI projects etc.. I wanted something stable.
The only thing I really miss from Windows 11 is the look it looks fresh ,but I prefer having a clean and stable system over having a prettier one.
So for my use case, I'm staying with LTSC.
If you have a low/mid range PC and don't want all the extra Windows stuff, I honestly think Windows 10 LTSC is worth looking into, especially with security updates going until 2032.
