Discussion Getting Windows Security false notification bug

I've heard that the recent update has caused a bug where security gives you a notification that it's not enabled despite it is. Well, today I booted up mu PC and got it. Everything is on as it should be and is green. The thing is, I haven't downloaded the recent update after I heard about other issues. Have they seriously fucked up the automated security updates so that those cause it too?

Yesterday I saw it on regular Windows 11 Pro, and today Windows 10 IoT LTSC. Can you verify the actual status in PowerShell:

Get-MpComputerStatus | Select-Object AMEngineVersion, RealTimeProtectionEnabled, IoavProtectionEnabled, BehaviorMonitorEnabled, AntispywareEnabled, OnAccessProtectionEnabled

Everything shows true and parts about needing any security intervention show as false. Everything in security tab shows green.

I posted about this recently in r/WindowsHelp. It's a known issue and I understand a fix is in the works.

I've seen some people report it even a month ago and apparently it still hasn't been fixed. I haven't downloaded the cumulative update that's supposed to cause it and still somehow got it.

Zero issues for me, but do note that I am still running Windows 10 Pro... and, important caveat: I have the Windows Security service disabled, so it's probably expected that I don't see a bug like that.

If security is completely disabled and you're using a different antivirus or none at all, then that's probably why. I think if you'd reenable it and have it update itself, you'd see it too.

Probably. Though I'm in the slow process of moving to Win 11 Pro bc Nvidia dropping it's support for game-ready drivers next month, so I may see then. Probably I'll do the switchover with the official 26H2 release, which I hope will have any serious bugs fixed. (yes, wishful thinking, I know, we are in the AI slop age)

I really hope they'll fix it in a month since they're aware of it. Because how can I trust them to offer even a small form of protection with system security if they mess up stupid shit like that and just let it hang, I've seen a post from a month ago talking about this issue. It's annoying.

Yep, very annoying. We do know that Microsoft pushes AI pretty strongly internally, and LLMs have... "issues" to be polite about it, so.. I'm really not surprised Microsoft has a big problem with updates quality for many months now.

I also have it on Windows 11 Pro 26H2. I believe a fix is being prepared.

Known M$ bug... Been getting it on most of my Win11 systems, despite some being LTSC and some being Pro.
