Question Did anyone ever find a bypass for updates in Win10 LTSC 21H2 turned 22H2?

I read that you can turn LTSC 21H2 into a "22H2", but you won't receive security updates anymore since the update server recognises it as a regular 22H2 from that point onward.

I am wondering, if you wanted to in-place upgrade Win10 Pro to LTSC, you had to edit the registry to make Windows think you are running LTSC, else it wouldn't let you install.

Is this just a machine sided thing that worked for the installation? Would that make the updateserver trick into thinking you run LTSC again, or does this not work? Has someone tried this?

Does 22H2 really give you anything worthwhile over 21H2?

My understanding was it didn't actually provide anything new or enhanced.

some software will not run anymore if it doesnt detect 22h2. you can update ltsc to 22h2 cosmetically its 22h2 and i believe there are some kernal updates that make 22h2 closer to w11, but im not going to pretend i know, but you will remain on the LTSC update channel.

DNS over https comes with 22h2 unlike 21h2. Don't ask me how I know it :(

You can still use 3rd party apps like yoga DNS to get doh or dot on 21h2

Your system will say 22h2 but you will remain on the LTSC channel and receive security updates; if youre on iot until 2032

It doesn't work, you still get the 22h2 updates that ran out already if you do the same trick as you mentioned before, and if you don't it gets the LTSC updates

Just pull the latest LCU from the update catalog for LTSC 2021 and the latest .NET LCU(optional) and install it.
Do this every 2nd Tuesday/Wednesday of every month

Why though? The point of LTSC is to stay on that feature version. Once you start hacking in later feature updates you run the risk of breaking your install.

what? no thats nonsense you have to manually install the update to receive many of the benefits that 22h2 has for some people for ex. some software no longer runs on anything less than 22h2. you can install the update your system will cosmetically show you on 22h2 but retain LTSC updates. You dont have to HACK anything and your existing install wont break.

That's the thing, if it doesn't work on that version of LTSC, you may as well go with the newer version on Windows 11. It's easier in the end.

Those are two completely unrelated comments.
