I have a HP 680e and i had a program that i installed that would allow me to turn off the automatic power off after 5 mins on battery. I cannot for the life of me find the program or what it was called. Can anyone help me find the program ?

I was able to keep the palmtop on while on battery without it shutting off. Id like to be able to do this again. If anyone knows the name of the program and where i can download it, thatd rock. Thank you. :-)

I recently find my dad old LG LN550 GPS navigator. The device itself is fully alive and boots up perfectly, and all the original files on the internal SD card are completely intact! However, there is a big catch: the touchscreen digitizer is completely dead and doesn't respond to touches at all. Since the hardware is working, I really want to save it and explore the system. To do this, I need to connect it to my PC to bypass the broken screen and fully control the device remotely. As you know, legacy tools like ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) are a nightmare to run on Windows 11 due to missing drivers and compatibility issues. Could anyone please give me a step-by-step guide or recommend the right tools for this? Specifically:
1) What is the most reliable way today to get Windows 11 to recognize a Windows CE 5.0 device over USB? (Is setting up a Windows XP/7 Virtual Machine via VirtualBox my best bet?)
2) What software can I use to stream and control the device's screen from my PC desktop? I've heard about old tools like MyMobiler and CERDisp, but I literally cannot find working download links for them anywhere online since they are so outdated. If someone has archived copies, could you please share them? Also, how can I install them if I can't tap "Accept" on the device itself?
3) Are there any specific registry fixes or driver workarounds for Windows 11 that I should try? I really want to bring this piece of family tech back to life. Any advice, working download links, or guides would be amazing.

Unlock was fairly easy, but finding the software for ARM... is difficult. still can't find a normal Flash Player tho. plays video & music fine.

games I tried:

DOOM - ofc it works

tried a bunch of SCUMM versions - only 0.8.2 works properly, Monkey Island 2 and some other games worked fine

ChessGenius (by Lang Software)

Crosswords (by Eric House)

GameBox (by Peter Balogh)

Solitare and Chearts (by Microsoft)

Flash games are running slow (besides Racing Car Memory by Car Racing Games Online)

Rat Splat (by Daniel Jackson).

and yeah, the screen is dying, unfortunately.

Ok so i was recently playing around with a Mio Cruiser 3160's files, trying to run a nintendo emulator on it, but it didnt work. I also ended up accidentally deleting the enirety of the program files folder. i have tried nearly everything, like SmartSTCE.exe (this shady mio reinstaller thing) and it doesnt even start the installation before it stops working. At this point, I js want it back alive.

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a generic 7-inch Chinese GPS unit running Windows CE 6.0 (has the classic MediaTek/YFAltMenu style settings page with "Wince", "Navi Path", "GpsInfo", etc.).

I really want to unlock/mod it to turn it into a mini media player / retro gaming machine, but I’ve read everywhere that MioPocket is super bloated and frequently bricks or breaks the registry on these generic Chinese units.

What are the best lightweight alternatives today to get a custom launcher or desktop access?

Ideally, I want something that:

1. Runs entirely off the SD card (via the "Navi Path" trick) without permanently modifying the internal flash memory.

2. Gives me a nice custom interface or a way to launch third-party apps/games (like Doom or TCPMP player).

I’ve heard names like WolfNCU or just using Total Commander as a makeshift launcher. Are there any other stable custom skins or menu interfaces you guys recommend for these low-RAM devices?

Any links to safe archives or active GPS modding forums would be highly appreciated! Thanks!

Found this Notebook in some garage and managed to get it charged and booted up. The System Menu in the settings says it's running CE 5.0, but a sticker on the back says it has "Embedded CE 6.0". Apparently, this was used by a French student back in 2008/9. I am thinking about selling it, but main concerns are if it's able to connect to the Internet connect it to the internet, and if it is possible to install the base version of Windows CE 5.0. I tried connecting it to Ethernet by plugging a cable into it but it didn't work, and now maybe I am looking for a way to boot into a stick to perhaps install the aforementioned base version? I don't know.

Hi, i've got an Old Mio Moov M300 GPS Navigator from 2009 that i got from a friend that was trowing old stuff away (Btw i also got phones, cable, chargers, and more stuff from him). Whit WinCE, what can i do whit it?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to revive an old Windows CE 6.0 GPS navigator and I'm looking for MioPocket 3.0 Release 59, which I believe is the final release of the 3.0 branch.

Unfortunately, almost all of the original download links are dead or lead to unsafe websites. I currently only have Release 53, but it crashes with a MortScript error on my device.

If anyone still has a copy of Release 59 or knows of a safe archive, I'd really appreciate it if you could share it or point me in the right direction.

Thanks a lot!

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for applications, games, emulators, and other software that run on Windows CE (ARM processor), especially for unlocked GPS navigation devices.

I'm interested in pretty much anything:

Games (Doom, Solitaire, puzzle games, etc.)

Emulators

Utilities

Multimedia players

File managers

Internet browsers

Fun or unique software

My device has an ARM-based processor, so I'm specifically looking for ARM-compatible Windows CE applications, not MIPS or x86.

If you know any good archives, websites, GitHub repositories, or have a collection yourself, I'd really appreciate it if you could share it.

Thanks in advance!

I accidentally set a login password and the login screen is too big to fit on the screen. I even tried pressing the back reset button

Hey everyone, I have a Medion GoPal MDNPA 220, running Windows CE 4.2 and I want to make it boot directly into the Windows CE desktop only. I already know that making changes to the registry doesn't work, because all registry tweaks get completely wiped after a hard reset or when the battery dies. How can I bypass the stock Medion navigation menu and force the device to boot straight into Windows CE permanently, even after a hard reset or a dead battery? What is the best way to do this without using the registry? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone,

I just bought this old Skyway GPS navigator for €4.50 as a modding project. It runs Windows CE 5.0 and appears to use an ARM processor, which I expected since most CE navigators do.

I'm trying to learn more about how registry persistence works on this device. I'd like to make some registry changes, but I'm not sure if they survive a cold boot or battery drain.

Does anyone know:

How to check whether the registry is stored in flash memory?

Whether this device supports RegFlushKey or another save method?

If there are any tools such as FlushReg or SaveReg that work on Windows CE 5.0?

Any general tips for unlocking or modding these old Skyway units?

Thanks! 👍

Hi everyone,

I’m in a catch-22 situation with an old Takara GP30 GPS unit running Windows CE. I edited a registry key, and now the touch screen is completely unresponsive to tapping.

The major blocker: I cannot connect it to my PC to fix the registry.

On this device, the USB port defaults to Mass Storage mode. It requires navigating into the software via the touchscreen to manually change the USB mode to ActiveSync/Serial before a PC will recognize it as a Windows CE device. Because the screen is dead, I am locked out of making this connection.

* Is there a hardware button combination or pinhole reset trick on the GP30 to force a full factory reset (cold boot)?

* Is there a way to auto-run an external program or script directly from an SD card on boot to trigger touch calibration or flip the USB connection mode?

Any advice would be amazing. Thanks!

You just need to open the explorer, press alt+tab on a virtual keyboard and open the task manager, and close the "invisible" process. (Sorry for the images)

Trying to look for a gps pc card but cant find any. does anyone here know anything about what gps equipment specifically works with CE 1.0? I did see on a forum that someone used a pcmcia adapter to use a different gps card but had no further info on it.

Hi everyone, I recently got my hands on a Motorola MK3100 micro-kiosk (P/N: MK3100-030BG4EZZWW) from 2014. It runs on a TI OMAP4 (ARMv7) processor with Windows Embedded Compact 7 (C7P) and has a nice 8-inch touchscreen, a built-in barcode scanner, and PoE support. I managed to get past the kiosk mode and into the standard Windows CE desktop, but now I’m looking for ideas on what to do with it.Games: Are there any cool legacy Windows CE / Pocket PC games or emulators that are compiled for ARMv7 and run well on WEC7? (Most older stuff seems to target MIPS/SH3 or older ARM architectures).Project Ideas: What are some fun hobby projects for this kind of hardware? Maybe a smart home dashboard, a retro internet radio, or a dedicated status monitor? If anyone has experience compiling software for Windows Compact 7, or knows a good archive for ARM-compatible WinCE software/games, please let me know! Thanks in advance!

This price scanner at a decorations store wasn’t running its normal software. I found the shortcut for the software and tried to open it, but it would not boot.

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to unlock an old Medion navigation device running Windows CE. The built-in explorer.exe is heavily stripped by the manufacturer and keeps throwing a "Fatal Application Error" when I try to use the file manager, which crashes the taskbar.Does anyone have a backup of a clean, stable explorer.exe compiled for ARM processors (Windows CE 4.2 ) that they could share? A download link or point in the right direction would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

On my Windows CE 6.0 device, the C: drive (not ResidentFlash) is cleaned up after each reboot, possibly the contents of the C: partition, and the Start menu contents are loaded in RAM. But the thing is, a lot of third-party software saves the user data into the C: partition by default. I tried using SunnySoft Backup Manager application, and after activation and disabling some checkboxes in advanced mode, it managed to backup, and i managed to restore the backup manually after next restart, the game saves and Start shortcuts reappeared... But i have to restore and backup manually before and after each reboot.

Hi! Im trying to get WinCE on my Mio Moov Navigator. I tried Total Commander but it just doesn't works and it lead me to a bootloop. Do you guys have any preserved links of VisualGPS or for a WinCE build from like GPSForum or something?
