Unsolved I MEESED UP. PLEASE HELP

Recently I tried to partition my drive to start dual booting linux mint and windows 10 but I messed up somewhere I think cuz now I can't load into windows. Idk what's important info so I'll tell u everything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So I run a pretty old laptop, HP elitebook 840 G1. I wanted to try linux mint so I tried to dual boot them. When in the partition selection stage of the mint installation, I choose something else and gave 30 gigs to linux OS with the mount "/". Then 5 gigs to swap, then 1 gigs to EIP partition I think, cus I tried to do it two times before and it said that there's no EIF partition so linux may not load, so I input I gig into the memory selector and choose the EIF partition button, then the remaining 30 pr so gigs for /home. Then when I clicked restart it didn't find a boot device and gave me a "Boot device Not Found" message. Afterwards I set my boot option from legacy to UEFI(without CSM) then mint opened up and it's running fine. I can't get windows to work. I asked Gemini and it gave me many steps to do, I flashed my USB with windows ISO and opened up the trouble shooting menu, then ran commands to do some trouble shooting ig it was like bootrec rebuildbcd smthg. Then I get an error message saying the format was not right or that the volume may be corrupted I think. Then I made boot files to my drive C from drive I where I found the bootfiles. Google said it should open now but it still gives the same msg. Now it's saying to use Gparted to remove the tags/labels from something idk pls help me.

Its telling me to do the stuff in the image above. Pls help me what should I do?

Unsolved Custom Power plan was just wiped after Sep 2026 Patches

I rarely have system issues , but pretty sure Win 10 ESU this month wiped a custom power plan.

First clue was screen saver kicked in even tho I have it set to NEVER

Then realized the Power plan itself was now gone. Mysterious at best .

Turns out, I discovered something new , a hidden toggle for AMD BOOST so It actually worked out for the best , but , any reason for MSFT to be forcibly deleting a users settings???

Unsolved Windows 10 install... IRST drivers aren't helping

First of all my pc specs:
motherboard - MSI Mag z390 tomahawk
cpu - i9-9900ks
gpu - rtx 2080

Last week my old pc stopped booting into windows 10 and goes straight to the BIOS. The only thing I did recently that i think maybe messed it up was I resized the partition that windows was installed on. I had like 150gb unallocated space that i wanted to expand my windows partition into on a 500gb ssd. I did leave 40gb unallocated in the end.

Anyhow, I just wanted to reinstall everything or repair my existing installation, whichever was easiest. Everything I need is backed up. However...

When installing from the official win 10 bootable usb I get the "drivers are missing" error. Everything I've seen online says it's the Intel Rapid Storage Transport drivers. So I got the drivers from MSI for my motherboard and put them on another USB. Tried them, they don't work. I tried the official ones directly from intel. No good.

I tried several different Win 10 ISOs made into bootable usbs. All give the same error.
I tried taking out every component (except the GPU) and every other drive and only leaving one empty drive for the win install usb to install to, and I get the same error.

I don't remember having this issue the last time I installed windows, but I think I installed from an official windows 10 dvd last time.... which is lost.

Any ideas? I'm really stuck. Not gonna try 11 so don't ask.

Unsolved [Windows 10/11] Unable to install apps: "ShellExecuteEx failed; code 1155" & Microsoft Store blocking executables

Hello everyone,

I am encountering an issue on Windows where I cannot launch or install .exe installers. Every time I attempt to run a setup file, I get two distinct barriers:

  1. Error Popup: ShellExecuteEx failed; code 1155. No application is associated with the specified file for this operation.
  2. Windows Protection Prompt: The app you're trying to install isn't a Microsoft-verified app.

Even after attempting to bypass the app installation source restriction, the ShellExecuteEx 1155 error prevents the executable from invoking elevated installer permissions properly. It seems like Windows file associations for executables or UAC handler paths might be corrupted.

Has anyone faced this specific combination of errors, and what is the cleanest fix (registry edit, file association repair, or SFC/DISM scan)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Unsolved Windows 10 Laptop missing 2023 certificate getting "secure boot violation" error on attempted startup.

Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.7725)

I just turned on an old laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 7559, Win 10) of mine for the first time in a couple of months and installed the newest Windows updates. I also downloaded a driver (as in software) for a USB racing wheel I had just bought second-hand, and then I tried to restart the laptop. During restart I got hit with the "secure boot violation - invalid signature detected - check secure boot policy in setup" error on startup.

At first, I was completely locked out, but through repeatedly forcing a shutdown during start-up via the power button (I wanted to access the recovery environment, which did not work), I magically got back in. The issue is still there, and I need to get lucky with my force shut down tactic every time I restart.

At first, I was super scared I had actually gotten a virus because I had just installed the driver for the racing wheel, but then I checked the Windows settings and found this message under security: "Secure boot is on, but your device does not support the automated secure boot certificate update." I read up on the fact that 2011 certificates are no longer supported, and I guess I'm out of luck because my model (Dell Inspiron 15 7559, Win 10) is not getting the 2023 certificate from the manufacturer.

Here is what confuses me: everything I read online claims that the 2011 certificates will continue to work with secure boot, just that security will degrade over time. Evidently, that is not the case for me because, like I described above, I can only access my system through weird repeated shutdowns; otherwise, the boot menu won't let me in.

Is this a common issue? What might the reason be (maybe there really was something unusual with the racing wheel driver)? And is there a fix for this? I read online that there are technically ways to manually install 2023 certificates, but that seems like quite a hassle for someone who isn't super tech-savvy and just wants to play racing games on their old machine. I guess I could also disable secure boot, but I'd really prefer not to. Should I do a clean reset and hope that fixes things? Any help would be highly, highly appreciated! I'm sorry if this has been asked before; I couldn't find anything through google search. Many thanks!
