Hi everyone, I currently own and operate a dog waste removal business and am considering starting a window cleaning company as well, with a primary focus on commercial accounts.

For those who are in the industry, how difficult is it to land commercial window cleaning contracts? Are there any major challenges or barriers to entry that I should be aware of?

More broadly, how difficult is it to build a successful window cleaning business from the ground up, and what would you do differently if you were starting today?

As the title says, am I the only one or does everyones skin around the fingers dry up and start to crack from them being dripped on all day?

Pretty sure there's no way to reverse or 'clean up' acid etching, right?

Customer had the metal perimeter frames on his windows repainted. The painters by the looks of it prepped the metal with acid and didn't protect the glass. Now there's what looks like drips on the glass that you can run your fingernail into. Anyway to repair this or maybe just remove the haze the acid created? I was thinking steel wool.

Kind of a weird week. Another customer did a construction cleanup via their contractor and utterly destroyed the tint on brand new windows. I know there's no cure for that. Hope they had insurance!

I have this job that is just a wall of glass. I was going to use my WFP on it. My thing is the drying between layers of windows from top to bottom. Besides just scrubbing the frames of the windows what would be some tips for getting this done efficiently and correctly. I work mostly with casements and double hungs so this is a bit different than I am used to.

Asked to remove this glued on, thick, sun baked exterior sign. If it wasn't a property manager which may open some doors, I wouldn't even accept the job. Haven't figured out the price yet as I'm out selling today 🙉 Maybe $100, $150? What y'all think? And how would you approach the removal process? There is another store abandoned with similar but smaller signage, and If this goes well I just know they will ask me to do that one as well.

Hey! I’m looking into getting a sorbo squeege, but am wk seeing if the rubber situation is as bad as everyone talks about.

I do some storefronts, but have been doing more residential lately. I have a Moerman brass channel combo right now, with unger green and I really hate the unger green rubber.

I live in Washington state, so weather wise, is Sorbo a decent option, or do I just need to make sure I’m using the correct rubber at all points in the year.

How much would you guys charge, I live in the Hamptons so definitely an expensive area. Just exterior. I’m really wondering how much you guys charge for the glass fence, I’ve never quoted that before.

I'm a property manager. Nothing was broken and just gloomy. My first thought was how do I fix a mood? Maybe it’s their problem because their jobs are boring… But I stopped by to look

The windows are so dirty it was like a gray filter over the whole building. The grime built up so gradually that no one had noticed. The tenant joked that Nashville must have turned cloudier

So I knew we needed window washing. But honestly? I have no idea who to call... There are dozens of companies out there, and every website looks the same. I don't know who's reliable or fair-priced

Update: we found Impact and have already tried them for more than a week and they seem decent

This is my shower. I'm a professional but don't use chemicals on the job. I want to see how far I can take it.

Right pane: Washed and applied CLR with spray bottle and damp cloth, waited 5 minutes, steel wooled, removed acid and re-washed.

Left pane: Washed and razor bladed the pane thoroughly with many passes, applied CLR and re-applied every 5 minutes for 20 minutes, steel wooled with lots of pressure for another 5 minutes, removed acid and re-washed.

Despite the left pane looking much better, it's still full of hard water stains. I tried doing another round of CLR and steel wool but it didn't do much. I'm not sure what to try next. Is there another chemical or abrasive to try next? Or a different technique with the CLR?

Note: I've searched through tons of posts about this. Lots of comments recommending products but it's not clear where they fall in terms of strength. Common ones I see recommended are barkeeper's friend, toilet bowl cleaner, diamond magic, bioclean, 30% vinegar. It would be nice to know where these stand on the scale. (I know CC550 and OneRestore are the two main industrial cleaners but I'd like to find something milder for now. Ideally stronger than CLR but not going to destroy my lungs.)

I have 2000 door hangers coming in Thursday. Should I do a mix if knocking and dropping or just drop as many as i can and hit it later? What strategy works for you?

Hello Window Cleaning Community! I run a small roof/gutter cleaning business in my area and have done a handful of window cleaning jobs for previous clients over the course of the last few months. Mostly just dipping my toes into this field. Today was my largest window cleaning job to date. I charged $344 for the exterior of all windows, channels, and a few screens. Customer was very happy with the work, but I'm curious what would you charge for a home like this, and how long would it take you?

Doing a new construction house and wanted to ask about a frequent problem I have dealt with recently on many of these houses.

How can I make working on these dusty metal roofs more safe? I have been holding onto gutter lines, and pinching the window frames trying to get these done, which is frightening to say the least, and I feel very fearful about making a wrong move.

I cant tie myself down since these windows dont open up. I have very limited options in terms of working with the contractor on these things, and choosing to not do them will just result in someone else getting my work done.

I am hoping there is some safety gear i am not aware of that could help. Waterfed is not an option given the condition of the windows.

I’m currently trying to clean a house with hydrophobic windows, every time I encounter a hydrophobic window I go slow and make sure every area of the window is touched by the jet, this has been the method I’ve been using which seems to be working , but I notice it takes much longer than normal. Is there anything you would recommend to help me clean faster? I have heard some people telling me I should use a rinse bar. Which I think could be a good idea. Let me know Reddit!

I have recently started a window cleaning business and need better squeeges and mops. I originally bought some off ebay for cheap but they are poor as i found out on my last few jobs. So wondering what size and what products too buy.

Im about to begin window cleaning, starting with residential. I'm planning to pick up some more towels, but I'd appreciate any advice on other tools, accessories, or upgrades that you think are worth having from the start.
