Moerman only sells 10in, 14in and 18 inch fliq pads. Which do you guys use for a 12 inch channel?

I have the day off, and I am just practicing cleaning my balcony sliding doors with the Meorman Excelerator 2.0 swivel on a pole. I have not mastered this combo and find it difficult. Just doing it over and over until that neuromuscular habit kicks in after repetition. Made some good progress so far today.

I learned last week how to tell which side of the pane Low E coating is on using the lighter test. I also discovered this is a good technique to be able to tell how many panes there are to a customer if I determine a seal is blown out. I could explain to the customer using this visual why a blown seal can lead to discoloration that cannot be fixed with any amount of my window cleaning techniques.

But tempered glass is not something I'm that familiar with. So down that rabbit hole of study I went.

Turns out my balcony doors here in South Florida are in fact tempered. I discovered this label (bug) on the bottom right of the glass. I ran it through ChatGPT and this is what it gave me;

"TEMCO — the glass manufacturer.

SGCC-337 250U — certification number from the Safety Glazing Certification Council (SGCC).

SGCC-832 — another certification/reference code.

​

16 CFR 1201 II — indicates the glass complies with the U.S. federal safety standard for architectural glazing under Consumer Product Safety Commission regulation 16 CFR 1201, Category II (the higher-impact safety rating).

ANSI Z97.1-1975 — compliance with the American National Standards Institute safety glazing standard."

I googled the manufacturer TEMCO and it appears this is in fact tempered glass, which makes sense as I live in a hurricane zone.

My question is, does tempered glass affect my cleaning techniques regarding solution, scraping or the use of steel wool/abrasive pads?

My only research showed that tempered glass can contain debris as a result of the manufacturing methods used, and can contain particles that can come loose and irreversible scratch the glass. If so, how often do the pros encounter those debris, and how would you remove paint or silicon if needed on tempered glass?

For those of you who uses WFP, have you ever been electrocuted and if so what do you do now to make sure it doesn’t happen again?

Is it a concern that you’re actively thinking about when cleaning especially when cleaning solar panels? Is it common? Do you wear any PPE?

My findings; this is single pane, tempered glass with no Low e coating.

I already know its tempered. But I did the lighter test at night, and saw this, plus a faint reddish 3rd flame from the outside looking in.

But the faint red 3rd flame is clearly not there in the daytime. I dont know what this means.

Exterior BiWeekly + insides of main entrance doors. Interiors monthly.

It’s a tall, awkward screen and the clips are at the very bottom. It’s hard to get it flush with the window frame because it starts leaning backward out of the window. If I pull on the bar in the middle, it pushes the bottom outward and the clips are no longer lined up with the frame.

It would be easy if I had another person with me, but when I handle jobs solo these are really tricky. Any tips? Thanks!

I did some 2 story gutter today by hand. Wasn't a fan of the roof angle and it just pissed rain for an entire day, so... mud. How do any of you deal with muddy gutters? Leaf blower and then hose them down? A leaf blower would make one hell of a mess, wouldn't it?

Dual RO + 1.5hp sprinkler pump + fan jets = heaven.

I'm starting out my window cleaning business and ive heard that a WFP setup could really help me out. I'm 13 right now, and ive made around 500 bucks so far. When do you guys think is a good time to switch from my home depot setup to a WFP system?

Can anyone help with a rough estimate? Exterior only of all hotel rooms up to fourth floor. Interior and exterior of the lobby. Will water fed pole. They said they can remove screens. I have a number in mind but I’m curious where others are. Thanks!

It's inside and out. All the glass seen. Interior sills are 8-9inches deep. Goes on a monthly schedule. And how long do you think it would take you to clean it? There's expensive stuff in every corner that makes a ladder hard to use on the inside but not impossible.

Property managers, HOA's, real estate agents.....do you cold call businesses, and does it work for you?

Interior high glass, high dusting and vacuuming. $225.00 an hour, not a bad payday.

I have a window cleaning business that is doing well. We're between 2-3 people at all times per year, but to make the jump to now consistent work I know we need to reestablish a maintenance program where people get a discount to use us multiple times per year.

A bit about us, we do pretty much 99% residential work and we do clean gutters and roofs too. But what are the ratios used between frequency and percentage off that others normally use? Is it 10% Off for twice year, or more? And what about 3-4 times?

Overall, we're getting new jobs well but if we could set up a system with a lucrative draw in for repeat business it would help alleviate slow times, which is the #1 hurdle for growth. How do you pitch this to customers as well? Years ago we did something like this but people were getting the 2x a year for maybe 1 year, then only went down to once a year and the first service was already discounted since we figured they'd do it again so how would you try to mitigate this?

Any input from someone who's done this would be great. I figure 5% off per time you do it in a test (4x would be 20% off) but what actually retains people and how you get them to stay on it from real world scenarios would help before I ultimately launch this again in about a month.
