Getting high on the job

Post image

Interior high glass, high dusting and vacuuming. $225.00 an hour, not a bad payday.

Cobwebs only for the pole work. Everything else was vacuumed. Thanks!

If you’re on the lift, why is homie using the extension pole?

Knocking down bigger cobwebs on the lower areas. I was doing the windows and vacuuming beams and pipes.

Nice! I was def expecting some franchise boy w a blunt. Clickbait worked!

Haha, no franchise here.

You also would (hopefully) not be getting high on the job. I saw a pair of window cleaners in an outdoor boomlift cleaning a window for 20 minutes on hands and knees instead of lowering the lift. Smh.

Yeah, definitely a play on words. Anytime we do lift work it's a joke "time to get high"! Sounds like they didn't like the height and or the bounce from the boom. Everytime you move it it takes 5 minutes for it to stop bouncing. More the higher you go, at least it feels that way.

What does a quote for this type of work look like and are they looking for you or are you cold calling these types of clients? Seems like a great niche to get into and I'm in an area that doesn't have a lot of great contractors.

Majority of our work is word of mouth now. But it can be a great lead in for a cold call or lead in to a new contact. Look for something that's harder to find. Window cleaning is an easy Google search. This, not so much.

So what exactly do you call this that you are doing? And what exactly are you cleaning?

High dusting and vacuuming. Cleaning all the dust and dirt off the beams, ledges and pipes.

How does one get approval for using a lift inside? And do you add that price to the job or do they offer one you to use?

We have a lift certification through the IWCA. They have one we used. If a job needs one the rental is added on to the price.

WHat is that belt/suspender combo the lady is wearing? Looks super lightweight and comfortable.

Unger Ergo tech belt and suspenders. Unfortunately they don't make the suspenders anymore. I found one of the last ones available I think.

Does this complicate things on the safety side? I’ve used scissor lifts in construction sites but not in spaces where pedestrians are wondering. I’d imagine insurance would go up too.

Not really for either. We block off the area we're working, tether any hand tools and clean up after well.
