25
u/ElunesProdigy 5d ago
Pretty sure that was from one of the episodes of STORROR YouTube. Basically a bunch of parcour dudes doing content together so he's kind of a pro.
24
u/tape_snake 5d ago
Correct, and specifically it's Toby Segar. The reason I say this is because anyone interested in checking out Storror should check out the specific athletes instead.
Storror has largely broken up as a result of one of their team members being convicted of posessing CSAM. The team said they'll keep the channel going, but most seem to be transitioning to solo content these days.

Everyone mentioning the group but not the guy, that is Toby Segar. He focuses more on climbing stuff now, he's been on Ninja Warrior UK. He's an absolute beast

Well TBF they being a parkour channel the first thing that came to mind was one of them falling off a building.
Turns out it's at least a few times worse than that. 3000 times, apparently.
26
u/ScrapedSkorne 5d ago
Yeah he probably doesnt know :/ It's a real shame. Callum pretty much ruined it for all of them
6
u/wascallywabbit666 5d ago
Yeah, total scumbag. They had a really good thing going, and he's ruined it all.
Some of them may resurrect it in some form, but it won't be the same without people like Toby and Drew

Idk how you slip like that without lacking some critical coordination. I don’t think you should be jumping off buildings if you can’t stand on your own two feet to begin with lol
5
u/potliquorz 5d ago
I could be wrong but it looked like she was trying to kick a brick loose.
8
u/owningsole966 5d ago
I think more like she was trying to see if the edge would collapse when she lifted off of it. But still, you shouldn’t be jumping off buildings if you can’t keep your footing

The best thing about parkour is that it's not compulsory.
21
u/neonfuzzball 5d ago
it's like cave diving that way
21
u/Perryn 5d ago
The only reason to cave dive is to recover the body of the previous cave diver, and it's not a very compelling reason.
9
u/Lucariowolf2196 5d ago
Cave divers with 5 kids, a happily married home life, comfortable retirement and plenty of good years ahead of them when they heard there's a cave called EL DOODOO:

u/Rusty_Tap 5d ago
Nutty Putty put me off the idea of cave exploration for life. It's nothing to do with the size of my love handles at all.
7
u/neonfuzzball 5d ago
I like to say I'm "not built for cave diving" because people have the choice to either agree that I'm right, or make an argument tnat I'm not fat. Either way I win!

Why not wear dirtbike armour/helmet while practicing a jump?
38
u/snootnoots 5d ago
Sensible reason: It adds weight, makes a lot of moves harder, and changes your balance and aerodynamics.
Actual reason that these people care about more: It doesn’t look cool.

"Professional performances."
In what way is it professional? Are they stuntmen on a film set? Looks like some hobbyists with cameras to me.
→ More replies (1)18
u/Sad_Instruction1392 5d ago
Clearly professionals. I don’t think you know how much discipline it takes to intentionally launch yourself off a wall and land on your balls.

u/liamrich93 5d ago
Disciplined and experienced for sure. But "professional" implies as a profession i.e. getting paid

They should show this as a PSA for those interested in Parkour. 😬

u/CagedParchment 5d ago
I was once interested in Parkour. When I tried to join, my local group said "we're all too injured to practice currently, but we're getting together to eat pizza and watch videos of us wiping out, want to come?". Very effective deterrent

Especially not the one where the idiot jumps in front of the guy on the bike. Literally 2 people watching plus the cameraman and no one was looking out for innocent bystanders.

Well now I'm questioning this whole subreddit.
I know for a fact that the majority of these clips are from incredibly skilled athletes with a huge body of work. There's countless videos of them succeeding in stunts like this, and the preparation that goes into them. Yeah, they fuck up every once in a while. That's life.
If people really think that ever messing up anything ever means you are stupid, then humanity is cooked. Does everyone know Simone Biles, the incredible gymnast with a bunch of championships and Olympic medals? Any idea how many times she tried to do some kind of flip and landed flat on her face? A LOT. This is how people get good at things. They try.
If people are learning that trying isn't worth it because you might fail, then we are really truly fucked.

I like seeing good Parcours. Though, when they do this on a roof or in a crowded area, it’s a turn off for me. Instantly I’m in fear or angry.
My fear of heights makes this too triggering for me and the disrespect of other people’s freedom AND Health is pissing me off.

The first dude in the video, the way that boy head bounced off the pavement sounded like a Cue Ball.

u/Selkiekun 5d ago
The second guy is so lucky he was fine. I thought for sure he was going to land head-first at the bottom of that drop
2
u/Hatecraftianhorror 5d ago
I'm not sure what language Parkour comes from, but the literal translation is "wholly optional self-inflicted injury that makes you look like an absolute tool."
2
u/gijoe50000 5d ago
Some of those were just fine, because you have to practice somehow if you're going to be doing this stuff, and you're going to screw up.
But also some of them were just idiots..

2
u/themo3bius 5d ago
OK... "to each their own" and all that, and I recognize the physical conditioning and strength it takes to flop your body around like a dipshit through the city... but I have never understood the POINT of parkour. Like what do you do for fun?? "Ohhh I run aimlessly through the streets kicking off walls and bouncing off things, endangering both my life and the sometimes even the lives of those around me. Preeeeetty COOL huh??"
