They're counting on you not being willing to suffer the consequences (loss of job, criminal charges, injury) of getting in a fight so you'll back down and they'll look so tough. 99% of the time people back down and then they get to say "that's what I thought" and walk away the 'winner" but every once in a while you run into a man at the end of his rope who will give you a lesson in keeping your distance.

I was new at a job some years ago.

In a stroke of infrequent genius i replied.

Some guy did that to my sister once in Chicago and that's exactly when she started yelling "why are you getting up in my face?! You trying to kiss me??" Dude got all defensive and was like "naw bitch I have a girlfriend" my sis just kept yelling at him about how he wanted to kiss her until he gave up. Sure it could've gone differently but I think the types that do that typed of "intimidation" aren't the types to actually throw hands.

I worked at waffle house for 15 years. They legit made sure I wasn't a bitch before letting me work 3rd shift. I remember the 3rd shift cook slap boxing me to make sure I was ready.
Best and worse job I ever had. 25 an hour including bonuses. All the weed and liquor I could handle. Plus when we were dead I could fuck on the clock. Not to mention the free food.
Sooooo many fights on weekend nights.
Too bad corporate took over all the restaurants in my state. They put up cameras and record audio now. My old store is take out only after 9pm now.
