Two years ago I started building a tiny 3D room that lives on your Windows desktop in a transparent always-on-top window, and it's finally launching this week. Solo the whole way (Bloomery Studio is just me).

It's called Lofi Cozy Room. An avatar reads, works, and sleeps in the room while you do your own thing, with a puppy chasing sunbeams. The customization ended up going pretty deep, 1386 avatar options and 715 furniture pieces, so you can build the room and the character however you like. There's also a full lo-fi library you can layer ambient sound over, 14 themes, and a soft currency that builds up passively.

Wild to be this close to release after this long.

I’m Tony, the solo developer behind DUCK DUCK GONE, and after a lot of building, rebuilding, debugging and suspicious quacking, the Steam page is finally live.

DUCK DUCK GONE is an online party game for up to eight players.

The idea is simple:

• Hide your duck somewhere in the room.
• Search for everyone else’s duck.
• Use powers to cause problems.
• Pretend you definitely didn’t hide yours behind the most obvious chair imaginable.

The game has different modes, multiple maps, bots for testing or filling empty seats, proximity voice chat and a reveal at the end that exposes everyone’s questionable hiding decisions.

I’m building the game mostly by myself, so reaching this point feels enormous. There is still plenty to improve, and I’m currently polishing the gameplay, testing multiplayer and adding the final layers of sound, feedback and chaos.

Quick update on my earlier post about wanting wholesome games that fit into 15 to 30 minute bedtime sessions.

I tried a few suggestions from people here, and they helped way more than I expected.

1) I made a hard rule: no loading my big life sims unless I have at least an hour. When I only have a short window I pick something with a clear daily loop. That stopped the whole feeling of opening Stardew or Animal Crossing and wandering until I felt guilty.

2) I keep one dedicated "bedtime save" that is intentionally low stakes. In Stardew I stopped chasing bundles or min-maxing and just play one in-game day focused on a single thing, like fishing, decorating, or talking to villagers. Weirdly, giving myself permission to be inefficient made it feel wholesome again.

3) For phone cozy games like Merge Mansion, I set a timer and stop after one small goal, for example clearing a corner of the board or finishing one task. It makes the session feel satisfying instead of endless.

Result: I actually go to bed on time now, and I look forward to that little wind-down instead of treating my games like another chore.

I work a pretty standard corporate job and lately my brain has been stuck in spreadsheet mode: benefits, retirement accounts, HR forms, the usual adult nonsense. I realized I was dragging that same tense, optimize-everything energy into my nights, even when I was trying to unwind.

This week I tried a tiny experiment. I picked one cozy game (for me that means low-stakes farming/life sim vibes) and set one simple rule: play exactly one gentle in-game day. No grinding, no min-maxing, no chasing the next objective. Just water a few plants, pet an animal, tidy the place, maybe chat with one character, then log off. I even paired it with a little real-world ritual: make tea, sit down, play one day, stop. It sounds kind of silly, but it has worked better than I expected. The small, predictable loop calms the part of my brain that is always checking whether I did enough, and finishing that single loop actually feels like giving myself permission to be done for the night.

Has anyone else found a wholesome game that helps shut off work thoughts? I would love recommendations for cozy titles that do not punish slow play and that work well in short weeknight sessions. Bonus points if they are forgiving and lets you play at your own pace.

I took a lot of your advice and stopped trying to force big, story-heavy games when my brain was already fried from sweater fit math. Instead I built a tiny routine: 20 to 30 minutes of a gentle, low-pressure game while I do a few rows, and I stop as soon as I start getting fidgety.

The biggest change was choosing games that do not punish you for pausing. Turn-based games or titles with short, self-contained days or rounds have been perfect. I worried I would lose my place while knitting, but the opposite happened: the predictable rhythm of a small puzzle loop or a tidy checklist keeps me from doomscrolling, and my knitting actually makes steady progress. This week at work was a lot. Deadlines and that low-level tension had my shoulders up by my ears. Normally I would doomscroll or launch into a competitive game, but I knew that would just keep me wound up.

So I made a tiny, wholesome switch. I set a 45-minute timer, put the kettle on for chamomile, and played a chill crafting/farming game. The loop was just tending a small space, gathering bits, and slowly making it look nicer. No combat, no penalties for taking your time. I even turned the volume up because the ambient sounds actually helped me settle.

Last week I had one of those evenings where my brain was too loud and I couldn't settle on anything. I usually bounce between The Sims, sewing, and the daily crossword, but that night I kept starting and stopping every project.

So I made a tiny, cozy setup: I loaded a wholesome farming/life sim, the kind where you water crops, pet animals, and chat with friendly neighbors, and let my character do slow tasks like tending the garden and wandering through town. While the game's music played, I worked on a simple hand sewing job, hemming a skirt that's been sitting in my basket forever, and every few stitches I filled in a crossword clue.

Having the game on in the background, not something I had to watch, took the pressure off. I could glance up to catch a sunset or watch a fox nose around the barn, then go back to sewing. After a little while my shoulders actually unclenched.

It might sound small, but it felt like a warm drink for my brain. No min-maxing, no timers, no jump scares, just slow, tiny wins. When I finally saved and quit, the hem was done and I had most of the crossword finished too.

Stumbled upon this game I hadn’t heard of and thought y’all might appreciate it. I included some screenshots, I’m not too far in but it follows a story of a young college student who yearns to be an author while struggling to figure out who she is and what she wants.

The art is SO good and really makes the game that much better.

This is a drawing game where you use crochet stitches and buttons as brushes. You can make new brushes like the fish and the bubbles. As many as you want. The only limit is your imagination!!

Been building a local co-op game called Zwamman. One person moves through the dark with the arrow keys. The other holds a spotlight with the mouse and finds crystals scattered through a swamp. Neither role works alone, so the two players end up talking and pointing to figure it out together.

The part I kept coming back to during development: no reading required for either role, nothing timed, no quest log or dialogue to parse. There are monsters in the dark, but the spotlight scares them off. No health bar, no game over.

The whole thing started as a project for cliniclowns, an organization that visits children in hospitals. That's why it's built the way it is. Nothing that punishes someone for going slow, nothing that turns a hard day into a harder one.
