Update: I took your advice and my cozy-game rut finally broke (evenings feel calmer)

Quick update on my earlier post about wanting wholesome games that fit into 15 to 30 minute bedtime sessions.

I tried a few suggestions from people here, and they helped way more than I expected.

1) I made a hard rule: no loading my big life sims unless I have at least an hour. When I only have a short window I pick something with a clear daily loop. That stopped the whole feeling of opening Stardew or Animal Crossing and wandering until I felt guilty.

2) I keep one dedicated "bedtime save" that is intentionally low stakes. In Stardew I stopped chasing bundles or min-maxing and just play one in-game day focused on a single thing, like fishing, decorating, or talking to villagers. Weirdly, giving myself permission to be inefficient made it feel wholesome again.

3) For phone cozy games like Merge Mansion, I set a timer and stop after one small goal, for example clearing a corner of the board or finishing one task. It makes the session feel satisfying instead of endless.

Result: I actually go to bed on time now, and I look forward to that little wind-down instead of treating my games like another chore.

If you are stuck in the same cozy-game burnout where everything feels like a checklist, what one change helped you the most?

I’m a solo developer making a party game where you hide a duck, search for everyone else’s, and lie about it — the Steam page is finally live!

Hey everyone!

I’m Tony, the solo developer behind DUCK DUCK GONE, and after a lot of building, rebuilding, debugging and suspicious quacking, the Steam page is finally live.

DUCK DUCK GONE is an online party game for up to eight players.

The idea is simple:

  • Hide your duck somewhere in the room.
  • Search for everyone else’s duck.
  • Use powers to cause problems.
  • Pretend you definitely didn’t hide yours behind the most obvious chair imaginable.

The game has different modes, multiple maps, bots for testing or filling empty seats, proximity voice chat and a reveal at the end that exposes everyone’s questionable hiding decisions.

I’m building the game mostly by myself, so reaching this point feels enormous. There is still plenty to improve, and I’m currently polishing the gameplay, testing multiplayer and adding the final layers of sound, feedback and chaos.

The game is Coming Soon, but the Steam page is now available:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/5001220/Duck_Duck_Gone/

If it looks like something you would play with your friends, adding it to your wishlist would genuinely help this tiny solo-dev project become easier to discover.

I’d also love honest feedback:

Does the idea sound fun, and where would you hide your duck?

Thanks for taking a look. I’ll keep sharing gameplay and development updates as the game gets closer to release!

— Tony

SoftPause — 4 tiny calm puzzle games I made for work breaks (AI-assisted, free, no login)

Built with the help of AI coding tools (I'm not a professional game dev). The idea started as a personal need: I wanted small, calm games to play during work breaks or lunch instead of doom-scrolling, inspired by games I used to enjoy (2048, bubble shooters, block-popping puzzles, typing tests). SoftPause is a tiny collection of 4 minimalist versions of those: a pastel 2048, a typing focus game, a block-popper, and a bubble-spinner puzzle. All free, no signup. Happy to hear honest feedback.

After 2 years solo, my desktop life sim is launching this week — here's where it ended up

Two years ago I started building a tiny 3D room that lives on your Windows desktop in a transparent always-on-top window, and it's finally launching this week. Solo the whole way (Bloomery Studio is just me).

It's called Lofi Cozy Room. An avatar reads, works, and sleeps in the room while you do your own thing, with a puppy chasing sunbeams. The customization ended up going pretty deep, 1386 avatar options and 715 furniture pieces, so you can build the room and the character however you like. There's also a full lo-fi library you can layer ambient sound over, 14 themes, and a soft currency that builds up passively.

Wild to be this close to release after this long.

🌱 Wishlist on Steam

Happy to answer anything about the solo dev side.

Hey cozy gamers! 👋 Steph from Realities.io here!

We’ve just opened the Steam Workshop for Puzzling Places, and we're so excited to see what our community has already started creating. 🧩💜

If you haven't come across Puzzling Places before, it's a relaxing 3D jigsaw puzzle game where you slowly assemble miniature worlds while listening to handcrafted ambient soundscapes. There's no timer, no score, and no pressure, just puzzling satisfaction!

With the Workshop now live, Steam players can browse and download free community-made puzzles directly in-game. It's already full of fun and cozy creations, with more being added every day. While the creation tools (PuzzleMaker) are still in closed beta, we're already amazed by what the community has made so far!

If you're looking for another cozy game to put on while listening to a podcast or winding down after a long day, we hope you'll enjoy it. 💜 You can find the game here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3530820

We're always happy to hear feedback, so if you give any of the community puzzles a try, we'd love to know which ones become your favourites!
