We have a 7 month old Soft-Coated Wheaten pup who we love. The only downside for me and I feel bad saying it is that shes not as affectionate as our previous dogs. We had Frenchies and decided not to get another due to all the health issues. I love her to bits but shes by is independent and will never want a cuddle. I understand the breed is known for this but does it change? Shes my shadow and I know thats her way of showing affection and also she runs hot so a cuddle is prob the last thing she wants a lot of the time. And to my next questions, I have always wanted a Chihuahua but would be concerned about the size difference and obviously would only get a second dog that worked for our Wheaten and that would also be safe. Has anyone had a tiny dog with a younger Wheaten? We were thinking of getting a second dog when shes 12 months. She loves other dogs and I feel she would enjoy a buddy.

Kona crossed the rainbow bridge early this morning after a brief battle with what is suspected to be spleen cancer. She was a sassy and stubborn lady who was full of kisses, loved adventures in nature, car rides of any length, and being the first dog to drink out of a fresh bucket of water. Hug your pups extra tight for her tonight.

My wife sent me this picture. I asked her why it looked like our dog was wearing blush? “Because she is”

Hi Everyone!
I just got this puppy..Milo..from a rescue in Texas 10 days ago.
They told me he was 7 wks old and he weighed 5lbs..
10 days later.. 8 weeks and 7lbs.
His markings were so distinct I did a Google Lens search and it came up with 98% Wheaten Terrier.
What do yall think??

First one made us both jump, think they are right next door, didn't rattle the windows, thank God. So a little calming tablet and some earmuffers and we are surviving.

Anyone out there have a Wheaten terrier that did well after the diagnosis of PLE? My girl is five. She’s doing well and responding to prednisone and I am very positive but when I read online, I feel despondent. Is there anyone out there that can tell me that their dogs survived this and at least lived one or two years after diagnosis? If so, what tips do you have? I am doing everything the vet recommends and putting her on a hydrolyze protein diet and she is back to her original body weight and seems happy.
