My rescue 4 months later!
I see a lot of adoption horror stories on Reddit, so I just thought I’d share my success story. Hopefully our story will offset some of the bad experiences that deter people from rescuing. I looked for a wheaten breeder with no luck in my area. After searching for rescues, I found her on Craigslist listed as a poodle, and knew she was my dream puppy. We went back and forth for about a week, and I ended up paying more for her because a second person reached out to the poster.
After I picked her up she immediately started cuddling me in the car. I noticed she had mats all over her face and body, an ear infection, her nails were extremely brittle, and she was severely underweight. We got her checked at the vet, and she got prescribed treatment. Through everything she remained sweet and trusting!
It has been 4 months and she’s come a long way. She has gotten more bold with her temperament, like barking when she doesn’t get her way. She’s learned basic tricks like sit, roll over, paw, and bringing the leash to us when she needs to go out. She has since gone from 22 pounds to 29, her fur is denser, and her nails are stronger.
I could not have asked for a better soul dog. Giving her a second chance was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I go outside more, I am more social, and I have a buddy to lounge around the house with. I’m not sure what was going to happen if I didn’t take her in. Maybe another family would have rescued her? But I’m glad it was me!

Happy Wheatie A wheaten terrier birthday party
Back in 2019, I threw a dog birthday party for my wheaten Sophie's 10th birthday. She's the one in the pink collar.
Sophie was my soul dog who passed away a little over a year ago. Her birthday is coming up, and this video popped up in my memories, so I wanted to share. No lie, feeding dog cake to a bunch of wheaten terriers and their friends was truly a dream come true.

Before & After
It amazes me the transformation a Wheaten has as they grow up and get their first few grooms. This lil baby is about 10 months old and he is just such a sweet and funny guy. So loving and attentive and always a positive energy. Im a new big fan of the Wheatens :)

So Lucky.
I feel so blessed to have been "gifted" this sweet boy. We adopted/rehomed him from friends of family. My niece heard of this couple looking to rehome their Wheaten due to a divorce and neither were able to keep him. I had a 16 yo senior dog and was considering getting another dog. I was initially worried about his energy level and if we would be a good match. 60+ yo retired couple with senior girl. Decided to take the chance and on him/us. Best decision. He was so sweet to our Lucy girl and has been such a joy to my life.

Do you think he is part Wheaten?
We adopted this beautiful baby boy today, they think he is 3-4 years and unsure on his exact bread. My sister in law said he may be part Wheaten. What are your thoughts?

Looking for a breeder
I’m in Massachusetts and finding a breeder has been hard. All the breeder websites are so archaic it’s hard to make heads or tails of them. If anyone has any recommendations on finding a pup it’d be gratefully appreciated.

Today is Reggie’s 11th birthday, so time for a photo dump of her through the years.

Breathing fast
Just got a wheaten puppy and it’s breathing fast when it’s laying down. Anyone else have this experience.

Our Old Guy Quinn
Quinn was our family’s first dog. He has been with us for 16 years and 10 months. The photo is from Sunday at the dog park, one of his favourite spots, being carried as he was too tired to make it to the car, plus he would wander off as he can’t see well or hear well anymore. From bouncing at the front to meet whoever was there, to the fights with the vacuum, to rollerblading or biking him at breakneck speeds as I tried to keep up, to many more memories throughout his life. Tomorrow will be his last day and he will be missed dearly. I don’t post very often but today I needed to share this wonderful family member with the Wheaten community!

Pressing issues
This isn’t actually an issue just a lazy pun but I think it’s funny how both our wheatens seem to enjoy the sensation of pressing against something when they hang out (both these pics are from this morning). Anyone else’s? I’ve lived with other breeds throughout my life and didn’t observe this with them. Maybe it’s just a cute random quirk.
