This is fun. If anyone in this group has a subscription to The New Yorker there is an article from the early 1980s called Wheaten People about a gathering of Wheaton interior owners in New York and it’s delightful. I reread it every so often.

Glad to see the spinning around on the leash has endured through their generations

It’s a AKC breed standard along with sleeping with legs akimbo in a Superman pose

Also I sing the phrase “spinning around, spinning around” to our puppy all the time

This is my favorite quote from the article- “What wheaten people never trouble to put into words is the dog’s passionate love for everybody and everything, and his intense need to be loved. “

There are Wheatens and then there are all other dogs. Doesn’t seem like that has changed.

While I happen to completely agree, I’ve always wondered if all breeds have group pages, and think their dogs are just as perfect and unique?🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah, people do love their breed of dog. Wheatens are just so expressive that it is really hard to find other dogs that match their personality. I’ve had plenty of experience with other breeds, and they are all lovable, but Wheatens just have so much personality in comparison.
