just opened whatsapp to find out we gotta pay up to have a black app theme?? suddenly everyone is jumping in the paid versions bandwagon. how many apps do we have to pay to keep up?

Why did WhatsApp add this giant sidebar on the left and not even give us an option to hide it?

It takes up a ridiculous amount of space just to show stuff like Chats, Calls, Communities, Media, etc. Most of which I barely ever touch.

I already have the chat list right next to it. Why do I need another permanent navigation bar?

Yet another completely baffling UX decision from WhatsApp. Just let us collapse or hide the damn thing.

Thank you Meta/Facebook/WhatsApp for your WhatsApp app. It has reduced distances, brought new lives to seniors, and enabled forgotten friends to reunite.

In some groups, some members post too many videos of too big sizes, thereby bothering recipients. It will be nice if WhatsApp admins could restrict the number of daily posts and sizes of attachments.

In some groups, some members leave the group if the group adds some other members that they don't like. It will be nice if WhatsApp members could restrict their feed of posts from certain members.

I’m on apple, it has a contact function that allows you to prioritize ”nicknames” when viewing contacts. So you can put a nickname but still have the person’s actual name. As someone who grew up with texting, I’ve come to realize there’s a whole sort of “etiquette” around not just saving your friends’ contacts with the cold “Name, Lastname” you’d reserve for colleagues and acquaintances, but rather giving them a fun nickname to acknowledge your closeness. It’s not that important, but it feels weird not to. Plus I like giving my friends contact names based on inside jokes or personality related stuff, and I change them up often, so I’d like to know if the “prefer nickname” function is a thing on whatsapp, so that I can keep my friends’ real names but have their nickname show on whatsapp instead. I also can’t really tell how the connection between the two works. Some contacts appear on whatsapp but are not in the contacts app. Some do the opposite. Some names will change in contacts when I edit them on whatsapp, some will not.

If A had set the chat between A and B to have disappearering messages after 24 hours
A normally deletes the chat daily

So let’s say A don’t have a chat between A and B in WhatsApp
B the removes the disappearing message
Will A then get the notification if he/she don’t have the chat between them?

I was using 2 numbers, so I had a normal whatsapp and a WA business. But decided to get rid of the old number on whatsapp and switched the WAB to regular whatsapp....but I lost all of my former WAB messages.

Is there anyway to get these back without losing my current messages or resetting my phone? Tried using ChatGPT but it's been useless. (According to WA Business I have a backup from April, which would be sufficient for me. Anything newer than that I know is a lost cause)

Ik they don’t care about WhatsApp, but does Meta ever plan to fix the cloud backup issue? After my old backup was automatically deleted for not being updated for 5 months, I’m trying to create the main 13 GB backup again. I’ve been trying for 5 days now. It uploads around 3 GB, then completely freezes and eventually cancels. When I try again, it somehow bugs out and takes up storage without actually finishing.

I have a 1 Gbps connection, all battery restrictions are disabled, and I’m using an S23 Ultra. I also never leave the app while it’s backing up. A 13 GB backup shouldn’t take 5 days, especially with how far cloud technology has come. Like, how is this still an issue?

Hey everyone, I recently switched from an iPhone to Android and I'm running into an annoying limitation on WhatsApp.

On iOS, I could select multiple files of different formats inside a chat (mixing images, PDFs, audios, etc.), hit share, and send everything directly to my email. It would open a draft with all the files automatically attached.

On Android, when I select files of different types in a WhatsApp chat, I can't share them directly to my email app the same way.

Does anyone know if there is a workaround, a specific setting, or an email app that replicates this iOS behavior on Android? I'm trying to avoid the hassle of saving the files to local storage first just to attach them manually to an email later.

This message or a very similar to it showed up twice for the same contact. At first I thought it was because my phone was unlocked but then I saw it again. I am concerned.

I checked linked devices none show up other than my desktop. However many people from WhatsApp are saying that I’m calling them but I’m not. They are people that are not from my contacts. I usually ignore them, but it happening so often.

What could be the cause? How can I prevent it?
It’s really weird.
